1When Athaliahוַֽעֲתַלְיָה֙va.'a.tal.YahH6271the motherאֵ֣ם'emH517of Ahaziahאֲחַזְיָ֔הוּ'a.chaz.Ya.huH274sawרָאֲתָ֖הra.'a.tahH7200that her sonבְּנָ֑הּbe.NahH1121was deadמֵ֣תmetH4191,she aroseוַתָּ֙קָם֙va.Ta.komH6965and eliminatedוַתְּאַבֵּ֔דva.te.'a.BedH6allכָּל־kol-H3605the royalהַמַּמְלָכָֽה׃ha.mam.la.KhahH4467childrenזֶ֥רַעZe.ra'H2233.
2But Jehoshebaיְהוֹשֶׁ֣בַעye.ho.She.va'H3089,the daughterבַּת־bat-H1323of Kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ־ha.Me.lekh-H4428Joramי֠וֹרָםYo.romH3141,sisterאֲח֨וֹת'a.ChotH269of Ahaziahאֲחַזְיָ֜הוּ'a.chaz.Ya.huH274,tookוַתִּקַּ֣חva.ti.KachH3947JoashH3060the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Ahaziahאֲחַזְיָ֗ה'a.chaz.YahH274and abductedוַתִּגְנֹ֤בva.tig.NoH1589him from amongמִתּ֤וֹךְmi.TokhH8432the king’sהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428sonsבְּנֵֽי־be.nei-H1121who were being putהַמּ֣וּמָתִ֔יםha.ma.mo.timH4191toH4191deathהוּמָֽת׃hu.MatH4191, and puthim and his nurseמֵינִקְתּ֖וֹmei.nik.ToH3243in the bedroomבַּחֲדַ֣ר הַמִּטּ֑וֹתba.cha.Dar ha.mi.TotH2315H4296.So they hidוַיַּסְתִּ֧רוּvai.yas.Ti.ruH5641him from Athaliahעֲתַלְיָ֖הוּ'a.tal.Ya.huH6271,and he was not putH4191toH4191deathH4191.
4Now in the seventhהַ֠שְּׁבִיעִיתHa.she.vi.'itH7637yearוּבַשָּׁנָ֣הu.va.sha.NahH8141Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֜עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077sentשָׁלַ֨חsha.LachH7971ordersand broughtוַיִּקַּ֣ח׀vai.yi.KachH3947the captainsשָׂרֵ֣יsa.ReiH8269of hundredsהַמֵּא֗וֹתha.me.yotH3967ofthe Caritesלַכָּרִי֙la.ka.RiH3746and of theguardsוְלָ֣רָצִ֔יםve.La.ra.TzimH7323,and broughtוַיָּבֵ֥אvai.ya.Ve'H935them to himself at the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068.Then he madeוַיִּכְרֹת֩vai.yikh.RotH3772a covenantבְּרִ֜יתbe.RitH1285with them and putH7650them underH7650oathוַיַּשְׁבַּ֤עvai.yash.Ba'H7650at the houseבְּבֵ֣יתbe.VeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,and showedוַיַּ֥רְאvai.Yar'H7200them the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428sonבֶּן־ben-H1121.
5And he commandedוַיְצַוֵּ֣םvay.tza.VemH6680them, sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Thisזֶ֥הzehH2088is the thingהַדָּבָ֖רha.da.VarH1697that you shall doתַּעֲשׂ֑וּןta.'a.SunH6213:a thirdהַשְּׁלִשִׁ֤יתha.she.li.ShitH7992of you, who comeבָּאֵ֣יba.'EiH935inH935on the Sabbathהַשַּׁבָּ֔תha.sha.BatH7676and keepוְשֹׁ֣מְרֵ֔יve.Sho.me.ReiH8104watchמִשְׁמֶ֖רֶתmish.Me.retH4931over the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004
6(a thirdוְהַשְּׁלִשִׁית֙ve.ha.she.li.ShitH7992also shall beat the gateבְּשַׁ֣עַרbe.Sha.'arH8179Surס֔וּרSurH5495,and a thirdוְהַשְּׁלִשִׁ֥יתve.ha.she.li.ShitH7992at the gateבַּשַּׁ֖עַרba.Sha.'arH8179behindאַחַ֣ר'a.CharH310theguardsהָרָצִ֑יםha.ra.TzimH7323),shall keepוּשְׁמַרְתֶּ֛םu.she.mar.TemH8104watchמִשְׁמֶ֥רֶתmish.Me.retH4931over the houseהַבַּ֖יִתha.Ba.yitH1004for defenseמַסָּֽח׃ma.SachH4535.
7And twoוּשְׁתֵּ֤יu.she.TeiH8147partsהַיָּדוֹת֙hai.ya.dOtH3027of you, allכֹּ֖לkolH3605who goיֹצְאֵ֣יyo.tze.'EiH3318outH3318on the Sabbathהַשַּׁבָּ֑תha.sha.BatH7676,shall also keepוְשָֽׁמְר֛וּve.sha.me.RuH8104watchמִשְׁמֶ֥רֶתmish.Me.retH4931over the houseבֵּית־beit-H1004of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068for the kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ha.Me.lekhH4428.
8Then you shall surroundוְהִקַּפְתֶּ֨ם עַל־ סָבִ֗יבve.hi.kaf.Tem 'al- sa.VivH5362H5439H5921the kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428,eachאִ֚ישׁ'ishH376with his weaponsוְכֵלָ֣יוve.khe.LavH3627in his handבְּיָד֔וֹbe.ya.DoH3027;and whoever comesH935withinאֶל־'el-H413the ranksהַשְּׂדֵר֖וֹתha.se.de.RotH7713shall be putיוּמָ֑תyu.MatH4191toH4191deathH4191. Andyou are to be with the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428when he goesH3318outH3318and when he comesH935inH935.”
9So the captainsשָׂרֵ֣יsa.ReiH8269of hundredsהַמֵּא֗וֹתha.me.yotH3967actedוַֽיַּעֲשׂ֞וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213in accordance with everythingכְּכֹ֣לke.KholH3605that Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֣עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077the priestהַכֹּהֵן֒ha.ko.HenH3548commandedצִוָּה֮tzi.VahH6680.And eachH376oneH376of them tookוַיִּקְחוּ֙vai.yik.ChuH3947his menH376who were to comeH935inH935on the Sabbathהַשַּׁבָּ֔תha.sha.BatH7676,alongH5973withH5973those who were to goH3318outH3318on the Sabbathהַשַּׁבָּ֑תha.sha.BatH7676,and they cameH935to Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֥עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077the priestהַכֹּהֵֽן׃ha.ko.HenH3548.
10Thenthe priestהַכֹּהֵ֜ןha.ko.HenH3548gaveוַיִּתֵּ֨ןvai.yi.TenH5414the captainsלְשָׂרֵ֣יle.sa.ReiH8269of hundredsהַמֵּא֗וֹתha.me.yotH3967the spearsהַחֲנִית֙ha.cha.NitH2595and shieldsהַשְּׁלָטִ֔יםha.she.la.TimH7982that had beenKingלַמֶּ֣לֶךְla.Me.lekhH4428David’sדָּוִ֑דda.VidH1732,whichH834werein the houseבְּבֵ֥יתbe.VeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.
11Theguardsהָרָצִ֜יםha.ra.TzimH7323stoodוַיַּעַמְד֨וּvai.ya.'am.DuH5975,eachאִ֣ישׁ׀'ishH376with his weaponsוְכֵלָ֣יוve.khe.LavH3627in his handבְּיָד֗וֹbe.ya.DoH3027,from the rightהַיְמָנִית֙hay.ma.NitH3233sideמִכֶּ֨תֶףmi.Ke.tefH3802of the houseהַבַּ֤יִתha.Ba.yitH1004to the leftהַשְּׂמָאלִ֔יתha.se.ma.LitH8042sideכֶּ֤תֶףKe.tefH3802of the houseהַבַּ֙יִת֙ha.Ba.yitH1004,by the altarלַמִּזְבֵּ֖חַla.miz.Be.achH4196and by the houseוְלַבָּ֑יִתve.la.Ba.yitH1004,aroundסָבִֽיב׃sa.VivH5439the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428.
12Then he broughtH3318the king’sהַמֶּ֗לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428sonבֶּן־ben-H1121outH3318, andputוַיִּתֵּ֤ןvai.yi.TenH5414the crownהַנֵּ֙זֶר֙ha.Ne.zerH5145on him and gave himthe testimonyהָ֣עֵד֔וּתha.'e.DutH5715;and they madeH4427him kingוַיַּמְלִ֥כוּvai.yam.Li.khuH4427and anointedוַיִּמְשָׁחֻ֑הוּvai.yim.sha.Chu.huH4886him, and they clappedוַיַּכּוּ־vai.ya.ku-H5221their handsכָ֔ףKhafH3709and saidוַיֹּאמְר֖וּvai.yo.me.RuH559, “Longliveיְחִ֥יye.ChiH2421the kingהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ סha.Me.lekhH4428!”
14And she lookedוַתֵּ֡רֶאva.Te.re'H7200,and beholdוְהִנֵּ֣הve.hi.NehH2009,the kingהַמֶּלֶךְ֩ha.me.leKhH4428was standingעֹמֵ֨ד'o.MedH5975by the pillarהָעַמּ֜וּדha.'a.MudH5982according to the customכַּמִּשְׁפָּ֗טka.mish.PatH4941,with the captainsוְהַשָּׂרִ֤יםve.ha.sa.RimH8269and thetrumpetersוְהַחֲצֹֽצְרוֹת֙ve.ha.cha.tzo.tze.rOtH2689besideאֶל־'el-H413the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428; andallוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the peopleעַ֤ם'amH5971of the landהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ha.'A.retzH776were joyfulשָׂמֵ֔חַsa.Me.achH8056and were blowingוְתֹקֵ֖עַve.to.Ke.a'H8628trumpetsבַּחֲצֹֽצְר֑וֹתba.cha.tzo.tze.RotH2689.Then Athaliahעֲתַלְיָה֙'a.tal.YahH6271toreוַתִּקְרַ֤עva.tik.Ra'H7167her clothesבְּגָדֶ֔יהָbe.ga.Dei.haH899and criedH7121outH7121, “Conspiracyקֶ֥שֶׁרKe.sherH7195!Conspiracyקָֽשֶׁר׃ סKa.sherH7195!”
15And Jehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֨עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077the priestהַכֹּהֵ֜ןha.ko.HenH3548commandedוַיְצַו֩vay.TzavH6680the captainsשָׂרֵ֥יsa.ReiH8269of hundredsהַמֵּא֣וֹתha.mei.'otH3967who were appointedפְּקֻדֵ֣יpe.ku.DeiH6485over the armyהַחַ֗יִלha.Cha.yilH2428and saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Bringהוֹצִ֤יאוּho.Tzi.'uH3318her outH3318betweenמִבֵּ֣יתmi.BeitH413H4480H1004the ranksלַשְּׂדֵרֹ֔תla.se.de.RotH7713,and whoever followsוְהַבָּ֥א אַחֲרֶ֖יהָve.ha.Ba' 'a.cha.Rei.haH935H310her, putהָמֵ֣תha.MetH4191toH4191deathתּוּמַ֖תtu.MatH4191with the swordבֶּחָ֑רֶבbe.Cha.revH2719!”For the priestהַכֹּהֵ֔ןha.ko.HenH3548saidאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559, “She is not to be putH4191toH4191deathH4191at the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.”
16So theyseizedוַיָּשִׂ֤מוּ יָדַ֔יִםvai.ya.Si.mu ya.Da.yimH7760H3027her, and whenthey broughtוַתָּב֛וֹאva.ta.Vo'H935her to the horses’הַסּוּסִ֖יםha.su.SimH5483entranceמְב֥וֹאme.Vo'H3996of the king’sהַמֶּ֑לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004, she wasputוַתּוּמַ֖תva.tu.MatH4191toH4191deathH4191thereשָֽׁם׃ סShamH8033.
17ThenJehoiadaיְהוֹיָדָ֜עye.ho.ya.Da'H3077madeוַיִּכְרֹ֨תvai.yikh.RotH3772a covenantהַבְּרִ֗יתha.be.RitH1285betweenH996the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068,the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428,and the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971,that they would be the Lord’sלַֽיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068peopleלְעָ֖םle.'AmH5971, andbetweenH996the kingהַמֶּ֖לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428and the peopleהָעָֽם׃ha.'AmH5971.
18And allכָל־khol-H3605the peopleעַם֩'amH5971of the landהָאָ֨רֶץha.'A.retzH776cameוַיָּבֹ֣אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935tothe houseבֵּית־beit-H1004of Baalהַבַּ֜עַלha.Ba.'alH1168and toreH5422it downוַֽיִּתְּצֻ֗הוּvai.yi.te.Tzu.huH5422;they thoroughlyהֵיטֵ֔בhei.TevH3190smashedH7665his altarsמִזְבְּחֹתָ֤יוmiz.be.cho.tovH4196and his imagesצְלָמָיו֙tze.la.MavH6754inH7665piecesH7665, and theykilledהָרְג֖וּha.re.GuH2026Mattanמַתָּן֙ma.TanH4977the priestכֹּהֵ֣ןko.HenH3548of Baalהַבַּ֔עַלha.Ba.'alH1168beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the altarsהַֽמִּזְבְּח֑וֹתha.miz.be.ChotH4196.Then the priestהַכֹּהֵ֛ןha.ko.HenH3548appointedוַיָּ֧שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760sentriesפְּקֻדּ֖וֹתpe.ku.DotH6486overעַל־'al-H5921the houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.
19And he tookוַיִּקַּ֣חvai.yi.KachH3947the captainsשָׂרֵ֣יsa.ReiH8269of hundredsהַ֠מֵּאוֹתHa.me.'otH3967and theCaritesהַכָּרִ֨יha.ka.RiH3746, and theguardsהָרָצִ֜יםha.ra.TzimH7323and allכָּל־kol-H3605the peopleעַ֣ם'amH5971of the landהָאָ֗רֶץha.'A.retzH776;and they broughtH3381the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428downוַיֹּרִ֤ידוּvai.yo.Ri.duH3381from the houseמִבֵּ֣יתmi.BeitH1004of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,and cameוַיָּב֛וֹאוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935by wayדֶּֽרֶך־de.rekh-H1870ofthe gateשַׁ֥עַרSha.'arH8179of theguardsהָרָצִ֖יםha.ra.TzimH7323to the king’sהַמֶּ֑לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004.And he satוַיֵּ֖שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427on the throneכִּסֵּ֥אki.Se'H3678of the kingsהַמְּלָכִֽים׃ha.me.la.KhimH4428.
20Soallכָּל־kol-H3605the peopleעַם־'am-H5971of the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776rejoicedוַיִּשְׂמַ֥חvai.yis.MachH8055and the cityוְהָעִ֣ירve.ha.'IrH5892wasH8252peacefulH8252.For they had putהֵמִ֥יתוּhe.Mi.tuH4191Athaliahעֲתַלְיָ֛הוּ'a.tal.Ya.huH6271toH4191deathH4191with the swordבַחֶ֖רֶבva.Che.revH2719at the king’sהַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ סha.Me.lekhH4428houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004.
