5The inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵ֤יyo.she.VeiH3427of Jebusיְבוּס֙ye.VusH2982saidוַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּvai.Yo.me.RuH559to Davidלְדָוִ֔ידle.da.VidH1732, “You shall not enterתָב֖וֹאta.Vo'H935hereהֵ֑נָּהHe.nahH2008.”Nevertheless Davidדָּוִיד֙da.VidH1732tookוַיִּלְכֹּ֤דvai.yil.KodH3920the mountainH4686strongholdמְצֻדַ֣תme.tzu.DatH4686of Zionצִיּ֔וֹןtzi.YonH6726(that is, the cityעִ֥יר'irH5892of Davidדָּוִֽיד׃da.VidH1732).

16Davidוְדָוִ֖ידve.da.VidH1732was thenאָ֣ז'azH227in the strongholdבַּמְּצוּדָ֑הba.me.tzu.DahH4686, whilethe garrisonוּנְצִ֣יבu.ne.TzivH5333of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430wasthenאָ֖ז'azH227in BethlehemH1035.

17And Davidדָּוִ֖ידda.VidH1732hadH183a cravingוַיִּתְאָ֥יוvai.yit.'avH183and saidוַיֹּאמַ֑רvai.yo.MarH559, “OhH4310that someoneH4310would giveיַשְׁקֵ֣נִיyash.Ke.niH8248me waterמַ֔יִםMa.yimH4325toH8248drinkH8248from the wellמִבּ֥וֹרmi.BorH953of BethlehemH1035,whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834is by the gateבַּשָּֽׁעַר׃ba.Sha.'arH8179!”
