9Now the Philistinesוּפְלִשְׁתִּ֖יםu.fe.lish.TimH6430had comeבָּ֑אוּBa.'uH935andcarriedH6584outH6584aH6584raidוַֽיִּפְשְׁט֖וּvai.yif.she.TuH6584in the Valleyבְּעֵ֥מֶקbe.'E.mekH6010of Rephaimרְפָאִֽים׃re.fa.'ImH7497.

10Davidדָּוִ֤ידda.VidH1732inquiredוַיִּשְׁאַ֨לvai.yish.'AlH7592of Godבֵּאלֹהִים֙be.lo.HimH430,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Shall I goהַאֶֽעֱלֶה֙ha.'e.'e.LehH5927upH5927againstעַל־'al-H5921the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.ti.yimH6430?And will You handבְּיָדִ֑יbe.ya.DiH5414 H3027them overH5414to me?” Then the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Goעֲלֵ֔ה'a.LehH5927upH5927,for I will handבְּיָדֶֽךָ׃be.ya.De.khaH5414 H3027them overH5414to you.”

11So they cameH5927upH5927to Baal-perazimH1188,and Davidדָּוִיד֒da.VidH1732defeatedוַיַּכֵּ֣םvai.ya.KemH5221them thereשָׁ֣םshamH8033;and Davidדָּוִ֔ידda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Godהָֽאֱלֹהִ֧יםha.'E.lo.HimH430has brokenH6555throughH6555my enemiesH340by my handבְּיָדִ֖יbe.ya.DiH3027,like the breakthroughכְּפֶ֣רֶץke.Fe.retzH6556of watersמָ֑יִםMa.yimH4325.”Thereforeעַל־ כֵּ֗ן'al- KenH5921 H3651they namedקָֽרְא֛וּ שֵֽׁם־ka.re.'U shem-H7121 H8034that placeהַמָּק֥וֹםha.ma.KomH4725Baal-perazimH1188.

12They abandonedוַיַּעַזְבוּ־vai.ya.'az.vu-H5800their godsאֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם'e.lo.hei.HemH430thereשָׁ֖םshamH8033;so Davidדָּוִ֔ידda.VidH1732gaveH559theH559orderH559and they were burnedוַיִּשָּׂרְפ֖וּvai.yi.sa.re.FuH8313with fireבָּאֵֽשׁ׃ פba.'EshH784.

14Davidדָּוִיד֙da.VidH1732inquiredוַיִּשְׁאַ֨לvai.yish.'AlH7592againע֤וֹדodH5750of Godבֵּֽאלֹהִ֔יםbe.lo.HimH430,and Godהָֽאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “You shall not goתַֽעֲלֶ֖הta.'a.LehH5927upH5927afterאַֽחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם'a.cha.rei.HemH310them; circleH5437aroundH5437behindמֵֽעֲלֵיהֶ֔םme.'a.lei.HemH4480 H5921them and comeוּבָ֥אתָu.Va.taH935at them in frontמִמּ֥וּלmi.MulH4136of the baka-shrubsהַבְּכָאִֽים׃ha.be.kha.'ImH1057.

17Then the fameשֵׁם־shem-H8034of Davidדָּוִ֖ידda.VidH1732spreadוַיֵּצֵ֥אvai.ye.Tze'H3318in allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605the landsהָֽאֲרָצ֑וֹתha.'a.ra.TzotH776; andthe Lordוַֽיהוָ֛הva.Yah.wehH3068broughtנָתַ֥ןna.TanH5414the fearפַּחְדּ֖וֹpach.DoH6343of him on allכָּל־kol-H3605the nationsהַגּוֹיִֽם׃ha.go.YimH1471.
