The Prophecy from Peor

1When BalaamH1109 sawH7200 that it 1pleasedH2895H5869 the LordH3068 to blessH1288 IsraelH3478, he did not goH1980 as at otherH6471 timesH6471 to 2seekH7122 3omensH5173 but he setH7896 his faceH6440 towardH413 the 4wildernessH4057. 2And BalaamH1109 liftedH5375 up his eyesH5869 and sawH7200 IsraelH3478 5campingH7931 tribeH7626 by tribeH7626; and 6the SpiritH7307 of GodH430 cameH1961 upon him. 3He tookH5375 up his 7discourseH4912 and saidH559, “8The oracleH5002 of BalaamH1109 the sonH1121 of BeorH1160, And the oracleH5002 of the manH1397 whose eyeH5869 is openedH8365;4The oracleH5002 of him who 9hearsH8085 the 10wordsH561 of GodH410, WhoH834 seesH2372 the 11visionH4236 of 12the AlmightyH7706, FallingH5307 downH5307, yet having his eyesH5869 uncoveredH1540,5HowH4100 fairH2895 are your tentsH168, O JacobH3290, Your dwellingsH4908, O IsraelH3478!6Like 13valleysH5158 that stretchH5186 out, Like gardensH1593 besideH5921 the riverH5104, Like 14aloesH174 plantedH5193 by the LordH3068, Like 15cedarsH730 besideH5921 the watersH4325.7WaterH4325 will flowH5140 from his bucketsH1805, And his seedH2233 will be by manyH7227 watersH4325, And his kingH4428 shall be higherH7311 thanH4480 16AgagH90, 17And his kingdomH4438 shall be exaltedH5375.818GodH410 bringsH3318 him out of EgyptH4714, He is for him like the hornsH8443 of the wildH7214 oxH7214. 19He will devourH398 the nationsH1471 who are his adversariesH6862, And will crushH1633 their bonesH6106 in pieces, And shatterH4272 them with his 20arrowsH2671.921He 22couchesH3766, he liesH7901 downH7901 as a lionH738, And as a 23lionH3833, whoH4310 24dares rouseH6965 him? 25BlessedH1288 is everyone who blessesH1288 you, And cursedH779 is everyone who cursesH779 you.”

10Then Balak’sH1111 angerH639 burnedH2734 againstH413 BalaamH1109, and he struckH5606 his 26handsH3709 togetherH5606; and BalakH1111 saidH559 to BalaamH1109, “I calledH7121 you to curseH6895 my enemiesH340, but beholdH2009, you have persistedH1288 in blessingH1288 them theseH2088 threeH7969 timesH6471! 11Therefore, 27fleeH1272 to your placeH4725 nowH6258. I saidH559 I would honorH3513 you greatlyH3513, but beholdH2009, the LordH3068 has heldH4513 you backH4513 from honorH3519.” 12BalaamH1109 saidH559 to BalakH1111, “28Did I not tellH1696 your messengersH4397 whomH834 you had sentH7971 to me, sayingH559, 13‘ThoughH518 BalakH1111 were to giveH5414 me his houseH1004 fullH4393 of silverH3701 and goldH2091, I couldH3201 not doH6213 anything contraryH5674 to the 29commandH6310 of the LordH3068, either goodH2899 orH176 badH7451, 30of my own 31accordH3820. 32WhatH834 the LordH3068 speaksH1696, that I will speakH1696’? 14And nowH6258, beholdH2009, 33I am goingH1980 to my peopleH5971; comeH1980, and I will adviseH3289 you whatH834 thisH2088 peopleH5971 will doH6213 to your peopleH5971 in the 34daysH3117 to comeH319.”

15He tookH5375 up his discourseH4912 and saidH559, “35The oracleH5002 of BalaamH1109 the sonH1121 of BeorH1160, And the oracleH5002 of the manH1397 whose eyeH5869 is openedH8365,16The oracleH5002 of him who hearsH8085 the 36wordsH561 of GodH410, And knowsH3045 the knowledgeH1847 of the 37MostH5945 HighH5945, Who seesH2372 the visionH4236 of 38the AlmightyH7706, FallingH5307 downH5307, yet having his eyesH5869 uncoveredH1540.17I seeH7200 him, but not nowH6258; I beholdH7789 him, but not nearH7138; A starH3556 shall comeH1869 forth from JacobH3290, 39A scepterH7626 shall riseH6965 from IsraelH3478, 40And shall crushH4272 throughH4272 the 41foreheadH6285 of MoabH4124, And 42tearH7175 downH7175 allH3605 the sonsH1121 of 43ShethH8352.1844EdomH112 shall be a possessionH3423, 45SeirH8165, its enemiesH340, also will be a possessionH3423, While IsraelH3478 performsH6213 valiantlyH2428.19One from JacobH3290 shall haveH7287 dominionH7287, And will destroyH6 the remnantH8300 from the cityH5892.”

20And he lookedH7200 at AmalekH6002 and tookH5375 up his discourseH4912 and saidH559, “AmalekH6002 was the firstH7225 of the nationsH1471, 46But his endH319 shall be 47destructionH8.”

21And he lookedH7200 at the 48KeniteH7017, and tookH5375 up his discourseH4912 and saidH559, “Your dwellingH4186 placeH4186 is enduringH386, And your nestH7064 is setH7760 in the cliffH5553.22NeverthelessH3588H518 KainH7014 will be consumedH1197; HowH4100 longH5704 will 49AsshurH804 50keepH7617 you captiveH7628?”

23Then he tookH5375 up his discourseH4912 and saidH559, “AlasH188, whoH4310 can liveH2421 except GodH410 has ordainedH7760 it?24But shipsH6716 shall come from the coastH3027 of 51KittimH3794, And they shall afflictH6031 AsshurH804 and will afflictH6031 52EberH5677; 53So they alsoH1571 will come to destructionH8.”

25Then BalaamH1109 aroseH6965 and departedH1980 and returnedH7725 to 54his placeH4725, and BalakH1111 alsoH1571 wentH1980 his wayH1870.
