Numbers 6

Law of the Nazirites

1Again the LordH3068 spokeH1696 to MosesH4872, sayingH559, 2“SpeakH1696 to the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 and sayH559 to them, ‘WhenH3588 a manH376 orH176 womanH802 makesH6381 a 1specialH6381 vowH5087, the vowH5088 of 2a 3NaziriteH5139, to 4dedicateH5144 himself to the LordH3068, 3he shall 5abstainH5144 from wineH3196 and strongH7941 drinkH7941; he shall drinkH7941 noH3808 vinegarH2558, whether made from wineH3196 or strongH7941 drinkH8354, norH3808 shall he drinkH8354 anyH3605 grapeH6025 juiceH4952 norH3808 eatH398 freshH3892 or driedH3002 grapesH6025. 4AllH3605 the daysH3117 of his 6separationH5145 he shall not eatH398 anythingH4480H3605 that is producedH6213 by the grapeH3196 vineH1612, from the seedsH2785 even to the skinH2085.

5‘AllH3605 the daysH3117 of his vowH5088 of separationH5145 7noH3808 razorH8593 shall passH5674 overH5921 his headH7218. He shall be holyH6918 untilH5704 the daysH3117 are fulfilledH4390 for whichH834 he separatedH5144 himself to the LordH3068; he shall let the locksH6545 of hairH8181 on his headH7218 growH1431 longH1431.

6‘8AllH3605 the daysH3117 of his separationH5144 to the LordH3068 he shall not goH935 near to a deadH4191 personH5315. 7He 9shall not makeH2930 himself uncleanH2930 for his fatherH1 or for his motherH517, for his brotherH251 or for his sisterH269, when they dieH4194, becauseH3588 his separationH5145 to GodH430 is on his headH7218. 8AllH3605 the daysH3117 of his separationH5145 he is holyH6918 to the LordH3068.

9‘But ifH3588 a man diesH4191 veryH6621 suddenlyH6597 besideH5921 him and he defilesH2930 his dedicatedH5145 headH7218 of hair, then 10he shall shaveH1548 his headH7218 on the dayH3117 when he becomesH2893 cleanH2893; 11he shall shaveH1548 it on the seventhH7637 dayH3117. 10Then on the eighthH8066 dayH3117 he shall bringH935 12twoH8147 turtledovesH8449 orH176 twoH8147 youngH1121 pigeonsH3123 to the priestH3548, to the doorwayH6607 of the tentH168 of meetingH4150. 11The priestH3548 shall offerH6213 13oneH259 for a sinH2403 offeringH2403 and the otherH259 for a burntH5930 offeringH5930, and makeH3722 atonementH3722 for him 14concerningH4480H834 his sinH2398 becauseH5921 of the dead personH5315. And that sameH1931 dayH3117 he shall consecrateH6942 his headH7218, 12and shall dedicateH5144 to the LordH3068 his daysH3117 15as a 16NaziriteH5145, and shall bringH935 a maleH3532 lambH3532 a yearH8141 oldH1121 for a guiltH817 offeringH817; but the formerH7223 daysH3117 will be voidH5307 becauseH3588 his separationH5145 was defiledH2930.

13‘Now thisH2088 is the lawH8451 of the NaziriteH5139 17whenH3117 the daysH3117 of his separationH5145 are fulfilledH4390, he shall bringH935 18the offering to the doorwayH6607 of the tentH168 of meetingH4150. 14He shall presentH7126 his offeringH7133 to the LordH3068: oneH259 maleH3532 lambH3532 a yearH8141 oldH1121 withoutH8549 defectH8549 for a burntH5930 offeringH5930 and oneH259 19ewe-lambH3535 a yearH8141 oldH1323 withoutH8549 defectH8549 for a sinH2403 offeringH2403 and oneH259 ramH352 withoutH8549 defectH8549 for a peaceH8002 offeringH8002, 15and a basketH5536 of 20unleavenedH4682 cakesH2471 of fineH5560 flourH5560 mixedH1101 with oilH8081 and unleavenedH4682 wafersH7550 spreadH4886 with oilH8081, along with 21their grain offeringH4503 and their drinkH5262 offeringH4503. 16Then the priestH3548 shall presentH7126 them beforeH6440 the LordH3068 and shall offerH6213 his sinH2403 offeringH2403 and his burntH5930 offeringH5930. 17He shall also offerH6213 the ramH352 for a sacrificeH2077 of peaceH8002 offeringsH8002 to the LordH3068, togetherH5921 with the basketH5536 of unleavenedH4682 cakesH4682; the priestH3548 shall likewise offerH6213 its grain offeringH4503 and its drinkH5262 offeringH5262. 1822The NaziriteH5139 shall then shaveH1548 his dedicatedH5145 headH7218 of hair at the doorwayH6607 of the tentH168 of meetingH4150, and takeH3947 the dedicatedH5145 hairH8181 of his headH7218 and putH5414 it on the fireH784 whichH834 is underH8478 the sacrificeH2077 of peaceH8002 offeringsH8002. 1923The priestH3548 shall takeH3947 the ram’sH352 shoulderH2220 when it has been boiledH1311, and oneH259 unleavenedH4682 cakeH2471 out of the basketH5536 and oneH259 unleavenedH4682 waferH7550, and shall putH5414 them on the 24handsH3709 of the NaziriteH5139 afterH310 he has shavedH1548 his 25dedicatedH5145 hair. 20Then the priestH3548 shall waveH5130 them for a waveH8573 offeringH8573 beforeH6440 the LordH3068. It is holyH6944 for the priestH3548, togetherH5921 with the breastH2373 offeredH8573 by wavingH8573 and the thighH7785 offeredH8641 by liftingH8641 up; and 26afterwardH310 the NaziriteH5139 may drinkH8354 wineH3196.’

21“ThisH2088 is the lawH8451 of the NaziriteH5139 whoH834 vowsH5087 his offeringH7133 to the LordH3068 accordingH5921 to his separationH5145, in additionH4480H905 to whatH834 else 27he can affordH5381H3027; according to his vowH5087 whichH834 he takesH5087, soH3651 he shall doH6213 accordingH5921 to the lawH8451 of his separationH5145.”

Aaron’s Benediction

22Then the LordH3068 spokeH1696 to MosesH4872, sayingH559, 23“SpeakH1696 to AaronH175 and to his sonsH1121, sayingH559, ‘ThusH3541 28you shall blessH1288 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478. You shall sayH559 to them:

24The LordH3068 29blessH1288 you, and 30keepH8104 you;

25The LordH3068 31makeH215 His faceH6440 shineH215 on you, And 32be graciousH2603 to you;

26The LordH3068 33liftH5375 up His countenanceH6440 on you, And 34giveH7760 you peaceH7965.’ 27So they shall 3536invokeH7760 My nameH8034 on the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, and I then will blessH1288 them.”
