Numbers 21:2-9
2So 1IsraelH3478 madeH5087 a vowH5088 to the LordH3068 and saidH559, “IfH518 You will indeedH5414 deliverH5414 thisH2088 peopleH5971 into my handH3027, then I will 2utterlyH2763 destroyH2763 their citiesH5892.” 3The LordH3068 heardH8085 the voiceH6963 of IsraelH3478 and deliveredH5414 up the CanaanitesH3669; then they 3utterlyH2763 destroyedH2763 them and their citiesH5892. Thus the nameH8034 of the placeH4725 was calledH7121 45HormahH2767.
4Then they setH5265 out from MountH2022 HorH2023 by the wayH1870 of the 6RedH5488H3220 SeaH3220, to 7goH5437 aroundH5437 the landH776 of EdomH112; and the 8peopleH5315H5971 becameH7114 impatientH7114 because of the journeyH1870. 5The peopleH5971 spokeH1696 against GodH430 and MosesH4872, “9WhyH4100 have you broughtH5927 us up out of EgyptH4714 to dieH4191 in the wildernessH4057? For thereH369 is noH369 10foodH3899 and noH369 waterH4325, and 1112we loatheH6973 this miserableH7052 foodH3899.” 613The LordH3068 sentH7971 fieryH8314 serpentsH8314 among the peopleH5971 and 14they bitH5391 the peopleH5971, so that 15manyH7227 peopleH5971 of IsraelH3478 diedH4191. 716So the peopleH5971 cameH935 to MosesH4872 and saidH559, “We have sinnedH2398, becauseH3588 we have spokenH1696 against the LordH3068 and you; 17intercedeH6419 with the LordH3068, that He may removeH5493 the serpentsH5175 from us.” And MosesH4872 intercededH6419 for the peopleH5971. 8Then the LordH3068 saidH559 to MosesH4872, “18MakeH6213 a 19fieryH8314 serpent, and setH7760 it on a standardH5251; and it shall comeH1961 about, that everyoneH3605 who is bittenH5391, when he looksH7200 at it, he will liveH2421.” 9And MosesH4872 madeH6213 a 20bronzeH5178 serpentH5175 and setH7760 it on the standardH5251; and it cameH1961 about, that ifH518 a serpentH5175 bitH5391 anyH376 manH376, when he lookedH5027 to the bronzeH5178 serpentH5175, he livedH2421.
