Jeremiah 42:7-22
7Now at the 1endH7093 of tenH6235 daysH3117 the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to JeremiahH3414. 8Then he calledH7121 for JohananH3076 the sonH1121 of KareahH7143 and allH3605 the 2commandersH8269 of the forcesH2428 that were with him, and for allH3605 the peopleH5971 bothH4480 smallH6996 and greatH1419, 9and saidH559 to them, “ThusH3541 3saysH559 the LordH3068 the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, to whomH834 you sentH7971 me to presentH5307 your petitionH8467 beforeH6440 Him: 10‘IfH518 you will indeedH7725 stayH3427 in thisH2088 landH776, then I will 4buildH1129 you up and not tearH2040 you downH2040, and I will plantH5193 you and not uprootH5428 you; for I 5will 6relentH5162 concerningH413 the calamityH7463 that I have inflictedH6213 on you. 117Do not be afraidH3372 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, whomH834 you are now fearingH3372; do not be afraidH3372 of him,’ declaresH5002 the LordH3068, ‘for 8I am with you to saveH3467 you and deliverH5337 you from his handH3027. 12I will also showH5414 you compassionH7356, so that 9he will haveH7355 compassionH7355 on you and restoreH7725 you to your own soilH127. 13But ifH518 you are going to sayH559, “We will 10not stayH3427 in thisH2088 landH776,” so as not to listenH8085 to the voiceH6963 of the LordH3068 your GodH430, 14sayingH559, “NoH3808, but we will 11goH935 to the landH776 of EgyptH4714, whereH834 we will not seeH7200 warH4421 or 12hearH8085 the soundH6963 of a trumpetH7782 or hungerH7456 for breadH3899, and we will stayH3427 thereH8033”; 15then 13in that caseH3651 listenH8085 to the wordH1697 of the LordH3068, O remnantH7611 of JudahH3063. ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068 of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, “IfH518 you reallyH7760 setH7760 your 14mindH6440 to enterH935 15EgyptH4714 and goH935 in to resideH1481 thereH8033, 16then the 16swordH2719, whichH834 you are afraidH3372 of, will overtakeH5381 you thereH8033 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714; and the famineH7458, about whichH834 you are anxiousH1672, will followH1692 closelyH1692 afterH310 you thereH8033 in EgyptH4714, and you will dieH4191 thereH8033. 17So allH3605 the menH376 whoH834 setH7760 their 17mindH6440 to goH935 to EgyptH4714 to resideH1481 thereH8033 will dieH4191 by the 18swordH2719, by famineH7458 and by pestilenceH1698; and they will 19haveH1961 noH3808 survivorsH8300 or refugeesH6412 from the calamityH7463 that I am going to bringH935 on them.”’”
18For thusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068 of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, “As My 20angerH639 and wrathH2534 have been pouredH5413 out on the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389, soH3651 My wrathH2534 will be pouredH5413 out on you when you enterH935 EgyptH4714. And you will becomeH1961 a 21curseH7045, an objectH8047 of horrorH8047, an imprecationH7045 and a reproachH2781; and 22you will seeH7200 thisH2088 placeH4725 noH3808 moreH5750.” 19The LordH3068 has spokenH1696 to you, O remnantH7611 of JudahH3063, “Do not 23goH935 into EgyptH4714!” You should clearlyH3045 24understandH3045 that todayH3117 I have 25testifiedH5749 against you. 20For you have only 2627deceivedH8582 yourselvesH5315; for it is you who sentH7971 me to the LordH3068 your GodH430, sayingH559, “PrayH6419 for us to the LordH3068 our GodH430; and whateverH3605H834 the LordH3068 our GodH430 saysH559, tellH5046 us soH3651, and we will doH6213 it.” 21So I have 28toldH5046 you todayH3117, but you have 29not 30obeyedH8085H6963 the LordH3068 your GodH430, even in whateverH3605H834 He has sentH7971 me to tell you. 22Therefore you should nowH6258 clearlyH3045 understandH3045 that you will 31dieH4191 by the swordH2719, by famineH7458 and by pestilenceH1698, in the 32placeH4725 whereH834H8033 you wishH2654 to goH935 to resideH1481.
