2 Kings 9:7-37
7You shall strikeH5221 the houseH1004 of AhabH256 your masterH113, 1that I may avengeH5358 2the bloodH1818 of My servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030, and the bloodH1818 of allH3605 the servantsH5650 of the LordH3068, 3at the handH3027 of JezebelH348. 8For the wholeH3605 houseH1004 of AhabH256 shall perishH6, and 4I will cutH3772 offH3772 from AhabH256 5everyH8366 maleH8366H7023 person 6both bondH6113 and freeH5800 in IsraelH3478. 97I will makeH5414 the houseH1004 of AhabH256 like the houseH1004 of JeroboamH3379 the sonH1121 of NebatH5028, and 8like the houseH1004 of BaashaH1201 the sonH1121 of AhijahH281. 109The dogsH3611 shall eatH398 JezebelH348 in the territoryH2506 of JezreelH3157, and noneH369 shall buryH6912 her.’” Then he openedH6605 the doorH1817 and fledH5127.
11Now JehuH3058 cameH3318 out to the servantsH5650 of his masterH113, and one saidH559 to him, “10Is all wellH7965? WhyH4069 did thisH2088 11madH7696 fellowH7696 comeH935 to you?” And he saidH559 to them, “You knowH3045 very well the manH376 and his talkH7879.” 12They saidH559, “It is a lieH8267, tellH5046 us nowH4994.” And he saidH559, “ThusH2088 and thusH2088 he saidH559 to me, ‘ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, “I have anointedH4886 you kingH4428 overH413 IsraelH3478.”’” 13Then 12they hurriedH4116 and eachH376 manH376 tookH3947 his garmentH899 and placedH7760 it underH8478 him on the bareH1634 stepsH4609, and 13blewH8628 the trumpetH7782, sayingH559, “JehuH3058 is kingH4427!”
14So JehuH3058 the sonH1121 of JehoshaphatH3092 the sonH1121 of NimshiH5250 conspiredH7194 againstH413 JoramH3141. 14Now JoramH3141 15with allH3605 IsraelH3478 was 16defendingH8104 Ramoth-gileadH7433 againstH4480H6440 HazaelH2371 kingH4428 of AramH758, 15but 17KingH4428 18JoramH3088 had returnedH7725 to JezreelH3157 to be healedH7495 of the woundsH4347 whichH834 the ArameansH761 had 19inflictedH5221 on him when he foughtH3898 with HazaelH2371 kingH4428 of AramH758. So JehuH3058 saidH559, “IfH518 this is your mindH5315, then let noH408 oneH6412 escapeH6412 or 20leaveH3318H4480 the cityH5892 to goH1980 tellH5046 it in JezreelH3157.” 16Then JehuH3058 rodeH7392 in a chariotH7392 and wentH1980 to JezreelH3157, for JoramH3141 was lyingH7901 thereH8033. 21AhaziahH274 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 had comeH3381 downH3381 to seeH7200 JoramH3141.
17Now the watchmanH6822 was standingH5975 on the towerH4026 in JezreelH3157 and he sawH7200 the 22companyH8229 of JehuH3058 as he cameH935, and saidH559, “I seeH7200 a 23companyH8229.” And JoramH3088 saidH559, “TakeH3947 a horsemanH7395 and sendH7971 him to meetH7122 them and let him sayH559, ‘Is it peaceH7965?’” 18So a horsemanH7392H5483 wentH1980 to meetH7122 him and saidH559, “ThusH3541 saysH559 the kingH4428, ‘Is it peaceH7965?’” And JehuH3058 saidH559, “24WhatH4100 have you to do with peaceH7965? TurnH5437 behindH413H310 me.” And the watchmanH6822 25reportedH5046, “The messengerH4397 cameH935 to them, but he did not returnH7725.” 19Then he sentH7971 out a secondH8145 horsemanH7392H5483, who cameH935 to them and saidH559, “ThusH3541 saysH559 the kingH4428, ‘Is it peaceH7965?’” And JehuH3058 26answeredH559, “WhatH4100 have you to do with peaceH7965? TurnH5437 behindH413H310 me.” 20The watchmanH6822 27reportedH5046, “He cameH935 evenH5704 to them, and he did not returnH7725; and 28the drivingH4491 is like the drivingH4491 of 29JehuH3058 the sonH1121 of NimshiH5250, for he drivesH5090 furiouslyH7697.”
21Then 30JoramH3088 saidH559, “31GetH631 readyH631.” And they madeH631 his chariotH7393 readyH631. 3233JoramH3088 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 and AhaziahH274 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 wentH3318 out, eachH376 in his chariotH7393, and they wentH3318 out to meetH7122 JehuH3058 and foundH4672 him in the 3435propertyH2513 of NabothH5022 the JezreeliteH3158. 22When 36JoramH3088 sawH7200 JehuH3058, he saidH559, “Is it peaceH7965, JehuH3058?” And he 37answeredH559, “WhatH4100 peaceH7965, 38soH5704 longH5704 as the harlotriesH2183 of your motherH517 JezebelH348 and her witchcraftsH3785 are so manyH7227?” 23So 39JoramH3088 40reinedH2015H3027 aboutH2015H3027 and fledH5127 and saidH559 to AhaziahH274, “41There is treacheryH4820, O AhaziahH274!” 24And 42JehuH3058 43drewH4390 his bowH7198 with his fullH4390 strengthH3027 and 44shotH5221 45JoramH3088 betweenH996 his armsH2220; and the arrowH2678 wentH3318 46throughH3318 his heartH3820 and he sankH3766 in his chariotH7393. 25Then Jehu saidH559 to BidkarH920 his officerH7991, “TakeH5375 him up and 47castH7993 him into the 48propertyH2513 of the fieldH7704 of NabothH5022 the JezreeliteH3158, for I rememberH2142 when 49you and I were ridingH7392 togetherH6776 afterH310 AhabH256 his fatherH1, that the 50LordH3068 laidH5375 thisH2088 51oracleH4853 againstH5921 him: 26‘SurelyH518H3808 52I have seenH7200 yesterdayH570 the bloodH1818 of NabothH5022 and the bloodH1818 of his sonsH1121,’ saysH5002 the LordH3068, ‘and 53I will repayH7999 you in thisH2088 54propertyH2513,’ saysH5002 the LordH3068. NowH6258 then, takeH5375 and castH7993 him into the 55propertyH2513, according to the wordH1697 of the LordH3068.”
2756When AhaziahH274 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063 sawH7200 this, he fledH5127 by the wayH1870 of the gardenH1588 houseH1004. And JehuH3058 pursuedH7291 him and saidH559, “57ShootH5221 him tooH1571, in the chariotH4818.” So they shot him at the ascentH4608 of GurH1483, whichH834 is at 58IbleamH2991. But he fledH5127 to MegiddoH4023 and diedH4191 thereH8033. 2859Then his servantsH5650 carriedH7392 him in a chariotH7392 to JerusalemH3389 and buriedH6912 him in his graveH6900 with his fathersH1 in the cityH5892 of DavidH1732.
29Now in 60the eleventhH259H6240 yearH8141 of JoramH3141, the sonH1121 of AhabH256, AhaziahH274 becameH4427 kingH4427 overH5921 JudahH3063.
30When JehuH3058 cameH935 to JezreelH3157, JezebelH348 heardH8085 of it, and 61she paintedH7760H6320 her eyesH5869 and adornedH3190 her headH7218 and lookedH8259 out the windowH2474. 31As JehuH3058 enteredH935 the gateH8179, she saidH559, “62Is it 63wellH7965, ZimriH2174, 64your master’sH113 murdererH2026?” 32Then he liftedH5375 up his faceH6440 to the windowH2474 and saidH559, “WhoH4310 is on my sideH854? WhoH4310?” And twoH8147 or threeH7969 officialsH5631 lookedH8259 downH8259 at him. 33He saidH559, “ThrowH8058 her downH8058.” So they threwH8058 her downH8058, and someH4480 of her bloodH1818 was sprinkledH5137 on the wallH7023 and on the horsesH5483, and he trampledH7429 her under foot. 34When he cameH935 in, he ateH398 and drankH8354; and he saidH559, “SeeH6485 nowH4994 to 65thisH2088 cursedH779 womanH779 and buryH6912 her, for 66she is a king’sH4428 daughterH1323.” 35They wentH1980 to buryH6912 her, but they foundH4672 nothingH3808 moreH3588H518 of her thanH3588H518 the skullH1538 and the feetH7272 and the palmsH3709 of her handsH3027. 36Therefore they returnedH7725 and toldH5046 him. And he saidH559, “ThisH1931 is the wordH1697 of the LordH3068, whichH834 He spokeH1696 by His servantH5650 ElijahH452 the TishbiteH8664, sayingH559, ‘67In the 68propertyH2506 of JezreelH3157 the dogsH3611 shall eatH398 the fleshH1320 of JezebelH348; 37and 69the corpseH5038 of JezebelH348 will be as dungH1828 on the faceH6440 of the fieldH7704 in the 70propertyH2506 of JezreelH3157, soH834 they cannotH3808 sayH559, “ThisH2088 is JezebelH348.”’”
