2 Kings 3:1-19
1Now JehoramH3088 the sonH1121 of AhabH256 becameH4427 kingH4427 overH5921 IsraelH3478 at SamariaH8111 1in the eighteenthH8083H6240 yearH8141 of JehoshaphatH3092 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and reignedH4427 twelveH8147H6240 yearsH8141. 2He didH6213 evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LordH3068, thoughH7534 not like his fatherH1 and his motherH517; for 2he putH5493 awayH5493 the sacred pillarH4676 of BaalH1168 3whichH834 his fatherH1 had madeH6213. 3NeverthelessH7534, 4he clungH1692 to the sinsH2403 of JeroboamH3379 the sonH1121 of NebatH5028, 5whichH834 he made IsraelH3478 sinH2398; he did not departH5493 from them.
4Now MeshaH4338 kingH4428 of MoabH4124 was a sheepH5349 breederH5349, and 6used to payH7725 the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 100,000H3967H505 lambsH3733 and the woolH6785 of 100,000H3967H505 ramsH352. 5But 7when AhabH256 diedH4194, the kingH4428 of MoabH4124 rebelledH6586 against the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478. 6And KingH4428 JehoramH3088 wentH3318 out of SamariaH8111 8at that timeH3117 and musteredH6485 allH3605 IsraelH3478. 7Then he wentH1980 and sentH7971 word to JehoshaphatH3092 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063, sayingH559, “The kingH4428 of MoabH4124 has rebelledH6586 against me. Will you goH1980 with me to fightH4421 againstH413 MoabH4124?” And he saidH559, “I will goH5927 up; 9I am as you are, my peopleH5971 as your peopleH5971, my horsesH5483 as your horsesH5483.” 8He saidH559, “WhichH335H2088 wayH1870 shall we goH5927 up?” And he 10answeredH559, “The wayH1870 of the wildernessH4057 of EdomH112.”
9So 11the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 wentH1980 with 12the kingH4428 of JudahH3063 and 13the kingH4428 of EdomH112; and they madeH5437 a circuitH5437 of sevenH7651 days’H3117 journeyH1870, and there was noH3808 waterH4325 for the armyH4264 or for the cattleH929 that followedH7272 them. 10Then the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 saidH559, “AlasH162! For the LordH3068 has calledH7121 theseH428 threeH7969 kingsH4428 to giveH5414 them into the handH3027 of MoabH4124.” 11But JehoshaphatH3092 saidH559, “14Is thereH369 not a prophetH5030 of the LordH3068 hereH6311, that we may inquireH1875 of the LordH3068 by him?” And oneH259 of the kingH4428 of Israel’sH3478 servantsH5650 answeredH6030 and saidH559, “15ElishaH477 the sonH1121 of ShaphatH8202 is hereH6311, 16whoH834 used to pourH3332 waterH4325 on the handsH3027 of ElijahH452.” 12JehoshaphatH3092 saidH559, “The wordH1697 of the LordH3068 is with him.” So the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 and JehoshaphatH3092 and the kingH4428 of EdomH112 wentH3381 downH3381 to him.
13Now ElishaH477 saidH559 to the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, “WhatH4100 do I have to do with you? 17GoH1980 to the prophetsH5030 of your fatherH1 and to the prophetsH5030 of your motherH517.” And the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 saidH559 to him, “NoH408, for the LordH3068 has calledH7121 theseH428 threeH7969 kingsH4428 together to giveH5414 them into the handH3027 of MoabH4124.” 14ElishaH477 saidH559, “18As the LordH3068 of hostsH6635 livesH2416, beforeH6440 whomH834 I standH5975, were it not that I regardH5375 the presenceH6440 of JehoshaphatH3092 the kingH4428 of JudahH3063, I would not lookH5027 at you norH518 seeH7200 you. 15But nowH6258 19bringH3947 me a minstrelH5059.” And it cameH1961 about, when the minstrelH5059 playedH5059, that 20the handH3027 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 upon him. 16He saidH559, “ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, ‘MakeH6213 thisH2088 valleyH5158 fullH1356 of trenchesH1356.’ 17For thusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, ‘You shall not seeH7200 windH7307 norH3808 shall you seeH7200 rainH1653; yet that valleyH5158 21shall be filledH4390 with waterH4325, so that you shall drinkH8354, both you and your cattleH4735 and your beastsH929. 18ThisH2088 is but a 22slightH7043 thingH7043 in the sightH5869 of the LordH3068; He will also giveH5414 the MoabitesH4124 into your handH3027. 1923Then you shall strikeH5221 everyH3605 fortifiedH4013 cityH5892 and everyH3605 choiceH4004 cityH5892, and fellH5307 everyH3605 goodH2896 treeH6086 and stopH5640 allH3605 springsH4599 of waterH4325, and marH3510 everyH3605 goodH2896 pieceH2513 of landH2513 with stonesH68.’”
