2 Kings 19:8-34
8Then RabshakehH7262 returnedH7725 and foundH4672 the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 fightingH3898 againstH5921 1LibnahH3841, for he had heardH8085 that 2the king had leftH5265 3LachishH3923. 9When he heardH8085 them sayH559 concerningH413 TirhakahH8640 kingH4428 of 4CushH3568, “BeholdH2009, he has comeH3318 out to fightH3898 againstH854 you,” he sentH7971 messengersH4397 againH7725 to HezekiahH2396 sayingH559, 10“ThusH3541 you shall sayH559 to HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of 5JudahH3063, ‘Do not 6let your GodH430 in whomH834 you trustH982 deceiveH5378 you sayingH559, “7JerusalemH3389 will not be givenH5414 into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804.” 11BeholdH2009, you have heardH8085 whatH834 the kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804 have doneH6213 to allH3605 the landsH776, destroyingH2763 them completelyH2763. So will you be 8sparedH5337? 129Did the godsH430 of 10those nationsH1471 whichH834 my fathersH1 destroyedH7843 deliverH5337 them, even 11GozanH1470 and 12HaranH2771 and RezephH7530 and 13the sonsH1121 of EdenH5729 whoH834 were in TelassarH8515? 1314WhereH335 is the kingH4428 of HamathH2574, the kingH4428 of ArpadH774, the kingH4428 of the cityH5892 of SepharvaimH5617, and of HenaH2012 and IvvahH5755?’”
14Then 15HezekiahH2396 tookH3947 the 16letterH5612 from the handH3027 of the messengersH4397 and readH7121 it, and he wentH5927 up to the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 and 17spreadH6566 it out beforeH6440 the LordH3068. 15HezekiahH2396 prayedH6419 beforeH6440 the LordH3068 and saidH559, “O LordH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, 18who are 19enthronedH3427 above the cherubimH3742, 20You are the GodH430, You aloneH905, of allH3605 the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776. You have madeH6213 heavenH8064 and earthH776. 1621InclineH5186 Your earH241, O LordH3068, and hearH8085; 22openH6491 Your eyesH5869, O LordH3068, and seeH7200; and listenH8085 to the wordsH1697 of SennacheribH5576, whichH834 he has sentH7971 23to reproachH2778 the livingH2416 GodH430. 17TrulyH551, O LordH3068, the kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804 have devastatedH2717 the nationsH1471 and their landsH776 18and have castH5414 their godsH430 into the fireH784, 24for they were not godsH430 but the workH4639 of men’sH120 handsH3027, woodH6086 and stoneH68. So they have destroyedH6 them. 19NowH6258, O LordH3068 our GodH430, I prayH4994, deliverH3467 us from his handH3027 25that allH3605 the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776 may knowH3045 that You aloneH905, O 26LordH3068, are GodH430.”
20Then IsaiahH3470 the sonH1121 of AmozH531 sentH7971 to HezekiahH2396 sayingH559, “ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, ‘BecauseH834 you have prayedH6419 to Me aboutH413 SennacheribH5576 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, 27I have heardH8085 you.’ 21ThisH2088 is the wordH1697 that the LordH3068 has spokenH1696 againstH5921 him: ‘She has despisedH959 you and mockedH3932 you, 28The virginH1330 daughterH1323 of ZionH6726; She 29has shakenH5128 her headH7218 behindH310 you, The daughterH1323 of JerusalemH3389!22WhomH4310 have you 30reproachedH2778 and 31blasphemedH1442? And againstH5921 whomH4310 have you raisedH7311 your voiceH6963, And 32haughtilyH4791 liftedH5375 up your eyesH5869? AgainstH5921 the 33HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478!2334ThroughH3027 your messengersH4397 you have reproachedH2778 the LordH136, And you have saidH559, “With my manyH7230 chariotsH7393 I cameH5927 up to the heightsH4791 of the mountainsH2022, To the remotestH3411 partsH3411 of LebanonH3844; And I 35cutH3772 downH3772 its tallH6967 cedarsH730 and its choiceH4004 cypressesH1265. And I 36enteredH935 its farthestH7093 lodgingH4411 placeH4411, its 37thickestH3759 forestH3293.24I dugH6979 wells and drankH8354 foreignH2114 watersH4325, And with the soleH3709 of my feetH6471 I 3839driedH2717 up AllH3605 the riversH2975 of 40EgyptH4693.”
25‘41Have you not heardH8085? LongH7350 agoH7350 I didH6213 it; From ancientH6924 timesH3117H6924 I plannedH3335 it. 42NowH6258 I have broughtH935 it to passH935, That you should turnH1961H7582 fortifiedH1219 citiesH5892 into ruinousH5327 heapsH1530.26Therefore their inhabitantsH3427 were shortH7116 of strengthH3027, They were dismayedH2865 and putH954 to shameH954; They were 43as the vegetationH6212 of the fieldH7704 and as the greenH3419 herbH1877, As grassH2682 on the housetopsH1406 is scorchedH7711 beforeH6440 it is grownH7054 up.27But 44I knowH3045 your sittingH3427 downH3427, And your goingH3318 out and your comingH935 in, And your ragingH7264 againstH413 Me.28BecauseH3282 of your ragingH7264 againstH413 Me, And because your 45arroganceH7600 has comeH5927 up to My earsH241, Therefore I 46will putH7760 My hookH2397 in your noseH639, And My bridleH4964 in your lipsH8193, And 47I will turnH7725 you backH7725 by the wayH1870 whichH834 you cameH935.
29‘Then thisH2088 shall be 48the signH226 for you: 49you will eatH398 this yearH8141 whatH5599 growsH5599 of itself, in the secondH8145 yearH8141 whatH5501 springsH5501 from the same, and in the thirdH7992 yearH8141 sowH2232, reapH7114, plantH5193 vineyardsH3754, and eatH398 their fruitH6529. 3050The survivingH7604 remnantH7604 of the houseH1004 of JudahH3063 will againH3254 take rootH8328 downwardH4295 and bearH6213 fruitH6529 upwardH4605. 31For out of JerusalemH3389 will goH3318 forthH3318 a remnantH7611, and 51out of MountH2022 ZionH6726 52survivorsH6413. 53The zealH7068 of 54the LordH3068 will performH6213 thisH2088.
32‘ThereforeH3651 thusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068 concerningH413 the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, “55He will not comeH935 to thisH2088 cityH5892 or shootH3384 an arrowH2671 thereH8033; and he will not comeH6923 beforeH6923 it with a shieldH4043 orH3808 throwH8210 up a siegeH5550 rampH5550 againstH5921 it. 3356By the wayH1870 that he cameH935, by the same he will returnH7725, and he shall not comeH935 to thisH2088 cityH5892,”’ declaresH5002 the LordH3068. 34‘57For I will defendH1598 thisH2088 cityH5892 to saveH3467 it for My own sakeH4616 and 58for My servantH5650 David’sH1732 sakeH4616.’”
