2 Kings 19:8-34
8Then RabshakehH7262 returnedH7725 and foundH4672 the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 fightingH3898 againstH5921 1LibnahH3841, for he had heardH8085 that the king had leftH5265 2LachishH3923. 9When he heardH8085 them sayH559 aboutH413 TirhakahH8640 kingH4428 of 3CushH3568, “BeholdH2009, he has comeH3318 outH3318 to fightH3898 you,” he sentH7971 messengersH4397 againH7725 to HezekiahH2396, sayingH559, 10“ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 you shall sayH559 to HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of 4JudahH3063: ‘Do not 5let your GodH430 in whomH834 you trustH982 deceiveH5378 you by sayingH559, “6JerusalemH3389 will not be handedH5414H3027 overH5414 to the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804.” 11BeholdH2009, you yourselfH859 have heardH8085 whatH834 the kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804 have doneH6213 to allH3605 the landsH776, destroyingH2763 them completelyH2763. So will you be savedH5337? 127Did the godsH430 of the nationsH1471 whichH834 my fathersH1 destroyedH7843 saveH5337 them: 8GozanH1470, 9HaranH2771, RezephH7530, and 10the sonsH1121 of EdenH5729 whoH834 were in TelassarH8515? 1311WhereH335 is the kingH4428 of HamathH2574, the kingH4428 of ArpadH774, the kingH4428 of the cityH5892 of SepharvaimH5617, and of HenaH2012 and IvvahH5755?’”
14Then 12HezekiahH2396 tookH3947 the 13letterH5612 from the handH3027 of the messengersH4397 and readH7121 it, and he wentH5927 upH5927 to the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 and 14spreadH6566 it outH6566 beforeH6440 the LordH3068. 15HezekiahH2396 prayedH6419 beforeH6440 the LordH3068 and saidH559, “LordH3068, GodH430 of IsraelH3478, 1516enthronedH3427 above the cherubimH3742, 17You are the GodH430, You aloneH905, of allH3605 the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776. You have madeH6213 heavenH8064 and earthH776. 1618InclineH5186 Your earH241, LordH3068, and hearH8085; 19openH6491 Your eyesH5869, LordH3068, and seeH7200; and listenH8085 to the wordsH1697 of SennacheribH5576, whichH834 he has sentH7971 20to tauntH2778 the livingH2416 GodH430. 17It is trueH551, LordH3068; the kingsH4428 of AssyriaH804 have laidH2717 wasteH2717 the nationsH1471 and their landsH776, 18and have 21hurledH5414 their godsH430 into the fireH784; 22for they were not godsH430, but only the workH4639 of humanH120 handsH3027, woodH6086 and stoneH68. So they have destroyedH6 them. 19But nowH6258, LordH3068 our GodH430, pleaseH4994, saveH3467 us from his handH3027, 23so that allH3605 the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776 may knowH3045 that You aloneH905, 24LordH3068, are GodH430.”
20Then IsaiahH3470 the sonH1121 of AmozH531 sentH7971 word to HezekiahH2396, sayingH559, “ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the LordH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478 saysH559: ‘BecauseH834 you have prayedH6419 to Me aboutH413 SennacheribH5576 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, 25I have heardH8085 you.’ 21ThisH2088 is the wordH1697 that the LordH3068 has spokenH1696 againstH5921 him: ‘She, 26the virginH1330 daughterH1323 of ZionH6726, has shownH959 contemptH959 for you and mockedH3932 you; She, the daughterH1323 of JerusalemH3389, 27has shakenH5128 her headH7218 behindH310 you!22WhomH4310 have you 28tauntedH2778 and 29blasphemedH1442? And againstH5921 whomH4310 have you raisedH7311 your voiceH6963, And 30haughtilyH4791 raisedH5375 your eyesH5869? AgainstH5921 the 31HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478!2332ThroughH3027 your messengersH4397 you have tauntedH2778 the LordH136, And you have saidH559, “With my manyH7230 chariotsH7393 I wentH5927 upH5927 to the heightsH4791 of the mountainsH2022, To the remotestH3411 partsH3411 of LebanonH3844; And I cutH3772 downH3772 its tallH6967 cedarsH730 and its choicestH4004 junipersH1265. And I enteredH935 its farthestH7093 restingH4411 placeH4411, its 33thickestH3759 forestH3293.24I dugH6979 wells and drankH8354 foreignH2114 watersH4325, And with the solesH3709 of my feetH6471 I 34driedH2717 upH2717 AllH3605 the streamsH2975 of EgyptH4693.”
25‘35Have you not heardH8085? LongH7350 agoH7350 I didH6213 it; From ancientH6924 timesH3117H6924 I plannedH3335 it. 36NowH6258 I have broughtH935 it aboutH935, That you would turnH1961H7582 fortifiedH1219 citiesH5892 into ruinedH5327 heapsH1530.26Therefore their inhabitantsH3427 were 37powerlessH7116H3027, They were shatteredH2865 and putH954 toH954 shameH954. They were 38like the vegetationH6212 of the fieldH7704 and the greenH3419 grassH1877, Like grassH2682 on the housetopsH1406 that is scorchedH7711 beforeH6440 it has grownH7054.27But 39I knowH3045 your sittingH3427 downH3427, Your goingH3318 outH3318, your comingH935 inH935, And your ragingH7264 againstH413 Me.28BecauseH3282 of your ragingH7264 againstH413 Me, And because your complacencyH7600 has comeH5927 upH5927 to My earsH241, I 40will putH7760 My hookH2397 in your noseH639, And My bridleH4964 in your lipsH8193, And 41I will turnH7725 you backH7725 by the wayH1870 by whichH834 you cameH935.
29‘Then thisH2088 shall be 42the signH226 for you: 43you will eatH398 this yearH8141 whatH5599 growsH5599 ofH5599 itselfH5599, in the secondH8145 yearH8141 whatH5501 growsH5501 byH5501 itselfH5501, and in the thirdH7992 yearH8141 sowH2232, harvestH7114, plantH5193 vineyardsH3754, and eatH398 their fruitH6529. 3044The survivorsH6413 that are leftH7604 of the houseH1004 of JudahH3063 will againH3254 take rootH8328 downwardH4295 and bearH6213 fruitH6529 upwardH4605. 31For outH3318 of JerusalemH3389 will goH3318 a remnantH7611, and survivorsH6413 45out of MountH2022 ZionH6726. 46The zealH7068 of 47the LordH3068 will performH6213 thisH2088.
32‘ThereforeH3651 thisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the LordH3068 saysH559 aboutH413 the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804: “48He will not comeH935 to thisH2088 cityH5892 norH3808 shootH3384 an arrowH2671 thereH8033; and he will not comeH6923 beforeH6923 it with a shieldH4043 norH3808 heapH8210 upH8210 an assaultH5550 rampH5550 againstH5921 it. 3349By the wayH1870 that he cameH935, by 50the same he will returnH7725, and he shall not comeH935 to thisH2088 cityH5892,”’ declaresH5002 the LordH3068. 34‘51For I will protectH1598 thisH2088 cityH5892 to saveH3467 it for My own sakeH4616, and 52for My servantH5650 David’sH1732 sakeH4616.’”
