Abijam Reigns over Judah

11Now in the eighteenthH8083H6240 yearH8141 of KingH4428 JeroboamH3379, the sonH1121 of NebatH5028, AbijamH38 becameH4427 kingH4427 overH5921 JudahH3063. 2He reignedH4427 threeH7969 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389; and his mother’sH517 nameH8034 was 23MaacahH4601 the daughterH1323 of 45AbishalomH53. 3He walkedH1980 in allH3605 the sinsH2403 of his fatherH1 whichH834 he had committedH6213 beforeH6440 him; and 6his heartH3824 was not 7whollyH8003 devotedH8003 to the LordH3068 his GodH430, like the heartH3824 of his fatherH1 DavidH1732. 4But for David’sH1732 sakeH4616 the LordH3068 his GodH430 gaveH5414 him a 8lampH5215 in JerusalemH3389, to raiseH6965 up his sonH1121 afterH310 him and to establishH5975 JerusalemH3389; 59becauseH834 DavidH1732 didH6213 whatH3477 was rightH3477 in the sightH5869 of the LordH3068, and had not turnedH5493 asideH5493 from anythingH3605 that He commandedH6680 him allH3605 the daysH3117 of his lifeH2425, 10exceptH7534 in the caseH1697 of UriahH223 the HittiteH2850. 611There was warH4421 betweenH996 RehoboamH7346 and JeroboamH3379 allH3605 the daysH3117 of his lifeH2425.

7Now 12the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of AbijamH38 and allH3605 that he didH6213, are they not writtenH3789 in the BookH5612 of the ChroniclesH1697H3117 of the KingsH4428 of JudahH3063? 13And there was warH4421 betweenH996 AbijamH38 and JeroboamH3379.

Asa Succeeds Abijam

814And AbijamH38 sleptH7901 with his fathersH1 and they buriedH6912 him in the cityH5892 of DavidH1732; and AsaH609 his sonH1121 becameH4427 kingH4427 in his placeH8478.

9So in the twentiethH6242 yearH8141 of JeroboamH3379 the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, AsaH609 began to reignH4427 as kingH4428 of JudahH3063. 10He reignedH4427 forty-oneH705H259 yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389; and 15his mother’sH517 nameH8034 was MaacahH4601 the daughterH1323 of AbishalomH53. 1116AsaH609 didH6213 whatH3477 was rightH3477 in the sightH5869 of the LordH3068, like DavidH1732 his fatherH1. 1217He also putH5674 awayH5674 the maleH6945 cultH6945 prostitutesH6945 from the landH776 and 18removedH5493 allH3605 the idolsH1544 whichH834 his fathersH1 had madeH6213. 131920He alsoH1571 removedH5493 MaacahH4601 his motherH517 from being queenH1377 motherH1377, becauseH834 she had madeH6213 a horridH4656 imageH4656 21as an AsherahH842; and AsaH609 cutH3772 downH3772 her horridH4656 imageH4656 and 22burnedH8313 it at the brookH5158 KidronH6939. 1423But the highH1116 placesH1116 were not takenH5493 awayH5493; neverthelessH7534 24the heartH3824 of AsaH609 was 25whollyH8003 devotedH8003 to the LordH3068 allH3605 his daysH3117. 1526He broughtH935 into the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 the dedicatedH6944 thingsH6944 of his fatherH1 and his own dedicatedH6944 thingsH6944: silverH3701 and goldH2091 and utensilsH3627.

1627Now there was warH4421 betweenH996 AsaH609 and BaashaH1201 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 allH3605 their daysH3117. 1728BaashaH1201 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 wentH5927 up againstH5921 JudahH3063 and 2930fortifiedH1129 RamahH7414 31in order to preventH1115H5414 anyone from goingH3318 out or comingH935 in to AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063. 18Then 32AsaH609 tookH3947 allH3605 the silverH3701 and the goldH2091 which were leftH3498 in the treasuriesH214 of the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 and the treasuriesH214 of the king’sH4428 houseH1004, and deliveredH5414 them into the handH3027 of his servantsH5650. And 33KingH4428 AsaH609 sentH7971 them to Ben-hadadH1130 the sonH1121 of TabrimmonH2886, the sonH1121 of HezionH2383, kingH4428 of AramH758, who livedH3427 in 34DamascusH1834, sayingH559, 19“Let there be a 35treatyH1285 betweenH996 36you and me, as betweenH996 my fatherH1 and your fatherH1. BeholdH2009, I have sentH7971 you a presentH7810 of silverH3701 and goldH2091; goH1980, breakH6565 your treatyH1285 with BaashaH1201 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 so that he will withdrawH5927 from me.” 20So Ben-hadadH1130 listenedH8085 to KingH4428 AsaH609 and sentH7971 the commandersH8269 of his armiesH2428 againstH5921 the citiesH5892 of IsraelH3478, and 37conqueredH5221 38IjonH5859, 39DanH1835, 40Abel-beth-maacahH62 and allH3605 41ChinnerothH3672, besidesH5921 allH3605 the landH776 of NaphtaliH5321. 21When BaashaH1201 heardH8085 of it, 42he ceasedH2308 43fortifyingH1129 RamahH7414 and remainedH3427 in 44TirzahH8656. 22Then KingH4428 AsaH609 madeH8085 a proclamationH8085 to allH3605 JudahH3063--noneH369 was exemptH5355--and they carriedH5375 away the stonesH68 of RamahH7414 and its timberH6086 with whichH834 BaashaH1201 had builtH1129. And KingH4428 AsaH609 builtH1129 with them 45GebaH1387 of BenjaminH1144 and MizpahH4709.

Jehoshaphat Succeeds Asa

2346Now the restH3499 of allH3605 the actsH1697 of AsaH609 and allH3605 his mightH1369 and allH3605 that he didH6213 and the citiesH5892 whichH834 he builtH1129, are they not writtenH3789 in the BookH5612 of the ChroniclesH1697H3117 of the KingsH4428 of JudahH3063? But in the timeH6256 of his oldH2209 ageH2209 he was diseasedH2470 in his feetH7272. 24And AsaH609 sleptH7901 with his fathersH1 and was buriedH6912 with his fathersH1 in the cityH5892 of DavidH1732 his fatherH1; and 47JehoshaphatH3092 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his placeH8478.

Nadab, then Baasha, Rules over Israel

25Now 48NadabH5070 the sonH1121 of JeroboamH3379 becameH4427 kingH4427 overH5921 IsraelH3478 in the secondH8147 yearH8141 of AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and he reignedH4427 overH5921 IsraelH3478 twoH8147 yearsH8141. 26He didH6213 evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LordH3068, and 49walkedH1980 in the wayH1870 of his fatherH1 and 50in his sinH2403 whichH834 he made IsraelH3478 sinH2398. 27Then 51BaashaH1201 the sonH1121 of AhijahH281 of the houseH1004 of IssacharH3485 conspiredH7194 againstH5921 him, and BaashaH1201 struckH5221 him downH5221 at 52GibbethonH1405, whichH834 belonged to the PhilistinesH6430, while NadabH5070 and allH3605 IsraelH3478 were layingH6696 siegeH6696 to GibbethonH1405.

28So BaashaH1201 killedH4191 him in the thirdH7969 yearH8141 of AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 and reignedH4427 in his placeH8478. 29It cameH1961 about as soon as he was kingH4427, he struckH5221 downH5221 allH3605 the householdH1004 of JeroboamH3379. He did not leaveH7604 to JeroboamH3379 53anyH3605 personsH5397 aliveH5397, untilH5704 he had destroyedH8045 them, 54according to the wordH1697 of the LordH3068, whichH834 He spokeH1696 by His servantH5650 AhijahH281 the ShiloniteH7888, 30and becauseH5921 of the sinsH2403 of JeroboamH3379 whichH834 he sinnedH2398, and 55whichH834 he made IsraelH3478 sinH2398, because of his provocationH3708 with whichH834 he provokedH3707 the LordH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478 to angerH3708.

3156Now the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of NadabH5070 and allH3605 that he didH6213, are they not writtenH3789 in the BookH5612 of the ChroniclesH1697H3117 of the KingsH4428 of IsraelH3478?

War with Judah

3257There was warH4421 betweenH996 AsaH609 and BaashaH1201 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 allH3605 their daysH3117.

33In the thirdH7969 yearH8141 of AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, BaashaH1201 the sonH1121 of AhijahH281 becameH4427 kingH4427 overH5921 allH3605 IsraelH3478 at TirzahH8656, and reigned twenty-fourH6242H702 yearsH8141. 34He didH6213 evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LordH3068, and 58walkedH1980 in the wayH1870 of JeroboamH3379 and in his sinH2403 whichH834 he made IsraelH3478 sinH2398.
