The Queen of Sheba
11Now when the 2queenH4436 of 3ShebaH7614 heardH8085 about the fameH8088 of SolomonH8010 concerning the nameH8034 of the LordH3068, she cameH935 4to testH5254 him with difficultH2420 questionsH2420. 2So she cameH935 to JerusalemH3389 with a veryH3966 largeH3515 retinueH2428, with camelsH1581 5carryingH5375 spicesH1314 and veryH3966 muchH7227 goldH2091 and preciousH3368 stonesH68. When she cameH935 to SolomonH8010, she spokeH1696 with him about allH3605 that was in her heartH3824. 3SolomonH8010 6answeredH5046 allH3605 her questionsH1697; nothingH3808H1697 was hiddenH5956 from the kingH4428 whichH834 he did not 7explainH5046 to her. 4When the queenH4436 of ShebaH7614 perceivedH7200 allH3605 the wisdomH2451 of SolomonH8010, the houseH1004 that he had builtH1129, 5the foodH3978 of his tableH7979, the seatingH4186 of his servantsH5650, the attendanceH4612 of his waitersH8334 and their attireH4403, his cupbearersH4945, and 8his stairwayH5930 by whichH834 he wentH5927 up to the houseH1004 of the LordH3068, there was noH3808 moreH5750 spiritH7307 in her. 6Then she saidH559 to the kingH4428, “It was a trueH571 reportH1697 whichH834 I heardH8085 in my own landH776 aboutH5921 your wordsH1697 and your wisdomH2451. 7Nevertheless I did not believeH539 the 9reportsH1697, untilH5704H834 I cameH935 and my eyesH5869 had seenH7200 it. And beholdH2009, the halfH2677 was not toldH5046 me. You exceedH3254 in wisdomH2451 and prosperityH2896 the reportH8052 whichH834 I heardH8085. 8How 10blessedH835 are your menH376, how blessedH835 are theseH428 your servantsH5650 who standH5975 beforeH6440 you continuallyH8548 and hearH8085 your wisdomH2451. 911BlessedH1288 be the LordH3068 your GodH430 whoH834 delightedH2654 in you to setH5414 you on the throneH3678 of IsraelH3478; 12because the LordH3068 lovedH157 IsraelH3478 foreverH5769, therefore He madeH7760 you kingH4428, 13to doH6213 justiceH4941 and righteousnessH6666.” 1014She gaveH5414 the kingH4428 a hundredH3967 and twentyH6242 talentsH3603 of goldH2091, and a veryH3966 greatH7235 amount of spicesH1314 and preciousH3368 stonesH68. NeverH3808 againH5750 did suchH1931 abundanceH7230 of spicesH1314 comeH935 in as that whichH834 the queenH4436 of ShebaH7614 gaveH5414 KingH4428 SolomonH8010.
1115AlsoH1571 the shipsH590 of HiramH2438, whichH834 broughtH5375 goldH2091 from OphirH211, broughtH935 in from OphirH211 a veryH3966 greatH7235 number of almugH484 treesH6086 and preciousH3368 stonesH68. 1216The kingH4428 madeH6213 of the almugH484 treesH6086 supportsH4552 for the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 and for the king’sH4428 houseH1004, also lyresH3658 and harpsH5035 for the singersH7891; suchH3651 almugH484 treesH6086 have not comeH935 in again norH3808 have they been seenH7200 to thisH2088 dayH3117.
13KingH4428 SolomonH8010 gaveH5414 to the queenH4436 of ShebaH7614 allH3605 her desireH2656 whichH834 she requestedH7592, besidesH4480H905 whatH834 he gaveH5414 her according to 17his royalH4428 bountyH3027. Then she turnedH6437 and wentH1980 to her own landH776 18together with her servantsH5650.
Wealth, Splendor and Wisdom
1419Now the weightH4948 of goldH2091 whichH834 cameH935 in to SolomonH8010 in oneH259 yearH8141 was 666H8337H3967H8346 talentsH3603 of goldH2091, 15besidesH905H4480 that from the tradersH376H8446 and the 20waresH4536 of the merchantsH7402 and allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the 21ArabsH6152 and the governorsH6346 of the countryH776. 1622KingH4428 SolomonH8010 madeH6213 200H3967 largeH6793 shieldsH6793 of beatenH7819 goldH2091, 23usingH5927 600H8337H3967 shekels of goldH2091 on eachH259 largeH6793 shieldH6793. 17He made 24300H7969H3967 shieldsH4043 of beatenH7819 goldH2091, 25usingH5927 threeH7969 minasH4488 of goldH2091 on eachH259 shieldH4043, and 26the kingH4428 putH5414 them in the houseH1004 of the forestH3293 of LebanonH3844. 18Moreover, the kingH4428 madeH6213 a greatH1419 throneH3678 of 27ivoryH8127 and overlaidH6823 it with refinedH6338 goldH2091. 19There were sixH8337 stepsH4609 to the throneH3678 and a roundH5696 topH7218 to the throneH3678 at its rearH310, and 28armsH3027 29on eachH3117 sideH2088 of the seatH4725H7675, and twoH8147 lionsH738 standingH5975 besideH681 the 30armsH3027. 20TwelveH8147H6240 lionsH738 were standingH5975 thereH8033 on the sixH8337 stepsH4609 on the oneH2088 sideH2088 and on the otherH2088; nothingH3808 likeH3651 it was madeH6213 for anyH3605 other kingdomH4467. 21AllH3605 KingH4428 Solomon’sH8010 drinkingH4945 vesselsH3627 were of goldH2091, and allH3605 the vesselsH3627 of the houseH1004 of the forestH3293 of LebanonH3844 were of pureH5462 goldH2091. NoneH369 was of silverH3701; it was not consideredH2803 31valuableH3972 in the daysH3117 of SolomonH8010. 22For 32the kingH4428 had at seaH3220 the shipsH590 of TarshishH8659 with the shipsH590 of HiramH2438; onceH259 every threeH7969 yearsH8141 the shipsH590 of TarshishH8659 cameH935 bringingH5375 goldH2091 and silverH3701, ivoryH8143 and apesH6971 and peacocksH8500.
2333So KingH4428 SolomonH8010 becameH1431 greaterH1431 thanH4480 allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the earthH776 in richesH6239 and in wisdomH2451. 24AllH3605 the earthH776 was seekingH1245 the presenceH6440 of SolomonH8010, 34to hearH8085 his wisdomH2451 whichH834 GodH430 had putH5414 in his heartH3820. 2535They broughtH935 everyH376 manH376 his giftH4503, articlesH3627 of silverH3701 and goldH2091, garmentsH8008, weaponsH5402, spicesH1314, horsesH5483, and mulesH6505, soH1697 muchH1697 yearH8141 by yearH8141.
2636Now SolomonH8010 gatheredH622 chariotsH7393 and horsemenH6571; and he hadH1961 1,400H505H702H3967 chariotsH7393 and 12,000H8147H6240H505 horsemenH6571, and he 37stationedH5148 them in the 38chariotH7393 citiesH5892 and with the kingH4428 in JerusalemH3389. 2739The kingH4428 madeH5414 silverH3701 as common as stonesH68 in JerusalemH3389, and he madeH5414 cedarsH730 as plentifulH7230 as sycamoreH8256 treesH8256 that are in the 40lowlandH8219. 2841Also Solomon’sH8010 importH4161 of horsesH5483 was from EgyptH4714 and KueH6961, and the king’sH4428 merchantsH5503 procuredH3947 them from KueH6961 for a priceH4242. 29A chariotH4818 42was importedH5927H3318 from EgyptH4714 for 600H8337H3967 shekels of silverH3701, and a horseH5483 for 150H2572H3967; and 43by the sameH3651 meansH3651H3027 they exportedH3318 them 44to allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the HittitesH2850 and to the kingsH4428 of the ArameansH758.
