The Queen of Sheba

11Now when the 2queenH4436 of 3ShebaH7614 heardH8085 about the fameH8088 of SolomonH8010 in relation to the nameH8034 of the LordH3068, she cameH935 4to testH5254 him with riddlesH2420. 2So she cameH935 to JerusalemH3389 with a veryH3966 largeH3515 entourageH2428, with camelsH1581 5carryingH5375 balsamH1314 oilH1314 and a veryH3966 largeH7227 quantity of goldH2091 and preciousH3368 stonesH68. When she cameH935 to SolomonH8010, she spokeH1696 to him about everythingH3605 that was in her heartH3824. 3And SolomonH8010 6answeredH5046 allH3605 her questionsH1697; nothingH3808H1697 was concealedH5956 from the kingH4428 whichH834 he did not explainH5046 to her. 4When the queenH4436 of ShebaH7614 sawH7200 allH3605 the wisdomH2451 of SolomonH8010, and the houseH1004 that he had builtH1129, 5and the foodH3978 of his tableH7979, the seatingH4186 of his servantsH5650, the serviceH4612 of his waitersH8334 and their attireH4403, his cupbearersH4945, and his burntH5930 offeringsH5930 whichH834 he offeredH5927 at the houseH1004 of the LordH3068, 7she was breathlessH3808H5750H7307. 6Then she saidH559 to the kingH4428, “It was a trueH571 8storyH1697 that I heardH8085 in my own landH776 aboutH5921 your wordsH1697 and your wisdomH2451. 7But I did not believeH539 the 9storiesH1697 untilH5704H834 I cameH935 and my own eyesH5869 sawH7200 it all. And beholdH2009, the halfH2677 of it was not reportedH5046 to me. You have exceededH3254 in wisdomH2451 and prosperityH2896 the reportH8052 whichH834 I heardH8085. 810BlessedH835 are your menH376, and blessedH835 are theseH428 servantsH5650 of yours who standH5975 beforeH6440 you continuallyH8548 and hearH8085 your wisdomH2451! 911BlessedH1288 be the LordH3068 your GodH430 whoH834 delightedH2654 in you to putH5414 you on the throneH3678 of IsraelH3478; 12because the LordH3068 lovesH157 IsraelH3478 foreverH5769, He madeH7760 you kingH4428, 13to doH6213 justiceH4941 and righteousnessH6666.” 10Then 14she gaveH5414 the kingH4428 15120H3967H6242 talentsH3603 of goldH2091, and a veryH3966 largeH7235 amount of balsamH1314 oilH1314 and preciousH3368 stonesH68. NeverH3808 againH5750 did suchH1931 a largeH7230 quantityH7230 of balsamH1314 oilH1314 comeH935 inH935 as that whichH834 the queenH4436 of ShebaH7614 gaveH5414 KingH4428 SolomonH8010.

1116And the shipsH590 of HiramH2438 asH1571 wellH1571, whichH834 broughtH5375 goldH2091 from OphirH211, broughtH935 inH935 from OphirH211 a veryH3966 greatH7235 number of almugH484 treesH6086 and preciousH3368 stonesH68. 1217The kingH4428 madeH6213 from the almugH484 treesH6086 supportsH4552 for the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 and for the king’sH4428 houseH1004, and lyresH3658 and harpsH5035 for the singersH7891; suchH3651 almugH484 treesH6086 have not comeH935 inH935 again, norH3808 have they been seenH7200 to thisH2088 dayH3117.

13And KingH4428 SolomonH8010 grantedH5414 the queenH4436 of ShebaH7614 everythingH3605 she desiredH2656, whateverH834 she requestedH7592, besidesH4480H905 whatH834 he gaveH5414 her in proportion to 18his royalH4428 bountyH3027. Then she 19departedH6437 and wentH1980 to her own landH776 20together with her servantsH5650.

Wealth, Splendor, and Wisdom

1421Now the weightH4948 of goldH2091 that cameH935 to SolomonH8010 in oneH259 yearH8141 was 22666H8337H3967H8346 talentsH3603 of goldH2091, 15besidesH905H4480 that from the tradersH376H8446, and the 23waresH4536 of the merchantsH7402 and allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the 24ArabsH6152 and the governorsH6346 of the countryH776. 1625KingH4428 SolomonH8010 madeH6213 twoH3967 hundredH3967 largeH6793 shieldsH6793 of beatenH7819 goldH2091, 26usingH5927 sixH8337 hundredH3967 shekels of goldH2091 on eachH259 largeH6793 shieldH6793. 17And he made 27threeH7969 hundredH3967 small shieldsH4043 of beatenH7819 goldH2091, 28usingH5927 29threeH7969 minasH4488 of goldH2091 on eachH259 shieldH4043; and 30the kingH4428 putH5414 them in the houseH1004 of the timberH3293 of LebanonH3844. 18Moreover, the kingH4428 madeH6213 a largeH1419 throneH3678 of 31ivoryH8127 and overlaidH6823 it with fineH6338 goldH2091. 19There were sixH8337 stepsH4609 to the throneH3678 and a roundH5696 topH7218 to the throneH3678 at its backH310, and 32armrestsH3027 33on eachH2088 sideH2088 of the seatH4725H7675, and twoH8147 lionsH738 standingH5975 besideH681 the 34armrestsH3027. 20TwelveH8147H6240 lionsH738 were standingH5975 thereH8033 on the sixH8337 stepsH4609 on the oneH2088 sideH2088 and on the otherH2088; nothingH3808 likeH3651 it was madeH6213 for 35anyH3605 other kingdomH4467. 21Now allH3605 KingH4428 Solomon’sH8010 drinkingH4945 utensilsH3627 were of goldH2091, and allH3605 the utensilsH3627 of the houseH1004 of the timberH3293 of LebanonH3844 were of pureH5458 goldH2091. NoneH369 was of silverH3701; it was not consideredH2803 as amounting to anythingH3972 in the daysH3117 of SolomonH8010. 22For 36the kingH4428 had the shipsH590 of TarshishH8659 at seaH3220 with Hiram’sH2438 shipsH590; onceH259 every threeH7969 yearsH8141 the shipsH590 of TarshishH8659 would comeH935 carryingH5375 goldH2091 and silverH3701, ivoryH8143, monkeysH6971, and peacocksH8500.

2337So KingH4428 SolomonH8010 becameH1431 greaterH1431 thanH4480 allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the earthH776 in wealthH6239 and wisdomH2451. 24And allH3605 the earthH776 was seekingH1245 the 38attentionH6440 of SolomonH8010, 39to hearH8085 his wisdomH2451, whichH834 GodH430 had putH5414 in his heartH3820. 25And 40they were bringingH935, everyoneH376, 41a giftH4503: articlesH3627 of silverH3701 and goldH2091, garmentsH8008, weaponsH5402, balsamH1314 oilH1314, horsesH5483, and mulesH6505, soH1697 muchH1697 yearH8141 by yearH8141.

2642Now SolomonH8010 gatheredH622 chariotsH7393 and horsemenH6571; and he hadH1961 1,400H505H702H3967 chariotsH7393 and twelveH8147H6240 thousandH505 horsemenH6571, and he 43stationedH5117 them in the 44chariotH7393 citiesH5892 and with the kingH4428 in JerusalemH3389. 2745And the kingH4428 madeH5414 silverH3701 as common as stonesH68 in JerusalemH3389, and he madeH5414 cedarsH730 as plentifulH7230 as sycamoreH8256 treesH8256 that are in the 46lowlandH8219. 2847Also Solomon’sH8010 importH4161 of horsesH5483 was from EgyptH4714 and KueH6961, and the king’sH4428 merchantsH5503 acquiredH3947 them from KueH6961 for a priceH4242. 29A chariotH4818 48was importedH5927H3318 from EgyptH4714 for sixH8337 hundredH3967 shekels of silverH3701, and a horseH5483 for 150H2572H3967; and 49by the sameH3651 meansH3027 they exportedH3318 them 50to allH3605 the kingsH4428 of the HittitesH2850 and to the kingsH4428 of the ArameansH758.
