3The chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749beganto accuseκατηγόρουνkatēgorounG2723Himharshlyπολλά.¶pollaG4183.

4ThenG2532PilateΠιλᾶτοςPilatosG4091questionedἐπηρώταepērōtaG1905Him againπάλινpalinG3825,sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, “Do You not answerἀποκρίνῃapokrinēG611?SeeἴδεideG2396howπόσαposaG4214manyG4214chargesG2723they bringG2723againstG2723You!”

5But JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424madeG611noοὐδὲνoudenG3762 G3765furtherG3765answerἀπεκρίθηapekrithēG611;soὥστεhōsteG5620PilateΠιλᾶτον.PilatonG4091was amazedθαυμάζεινthaumazeinG2296.

6NowδὲdeG1161at thefeastἑορτὴνhe'ortēnG1859he used to releaseἀπέλυενapeluenG630for them anyoneἕναhenaG1520prisonerδέσμιονdesmionG1198whomὃνhonG3739they requestedπαρῃτοῦντο.parētountoG3868.

7The man namedλεγόμενοςlegomenosG3004BarabbasΒαραββᾶςBarabbasG912had beenἦνēnG1510imprisonedδεδεμένοςdedemenosG1210with the insurrectionistsG4714whoοἵτινεςoitinesG3748had committedπεποιήκεισαν.pepoiēkeisanG4160murderφόνονphononG5408in the insurrectionστάσειstaseiG4714.

8The crowdὄχλοςochlosG3793wentἀναβὰςanabasG305up and beganἤρξατοērxatoG757askingαἰτεῖσθαιaiteisthaiG154him to doas he had been accustomed to doἐποίειepoieiG4160for them.

9PilateΠιλᾶτοςPilatosG4091answeredἀπεκρίθηapekrithēG611them, sayingλέγων·legōnG3004, “Do you wantθέλετεtheleteG2309me to releaseἀπολύσωapolusōG630for you the KingβασιλέαbasileaG935of the JewsἸουδαίων;IoudaiōnG2453?”

10For he was awareἐγίνωσκενeginōskenG1097that the chiefἀρχιερεῖς.archiereisG749priestsG749had handedπαραδεδώκεισανparadedōkeisanG3860Him over becauseδιὰdiaG1223of envyφθόνονphthononG5355.

11But the chiefἀρχιερεῖςarchiereisG749priestsG749stirredἀνέσεισανaneseisanG383up the crowdὄχλονochlonG3793to askhim to releaseἀπολύσῃapolusēG630BarabbasΒαραββᾶνBarabbanG912for them insteadμᾶλλονmallonG3123.

12AnsweringἀποκριθεὶςapokritheisG611againπάλινpalinG3825,PilateΠιλᾶτοςPilatosG4091saidἔλεγενelegenG3004to them, “ThenοὖνounG3767whatτίtiG5101shall I doποιήσωpoiēsōG4160with Him whomὃνhonG3739you callλέγετεlegeteG3004the KingβασιλέαbasileaG935of the JewsἸουδαίων;IoudaiōnG2453?”

13They shoutedἔκραξαν·ekraxanG2896backπάλινpalinG3825, “CrucifyσταύρωσονstaurōsonG4717Him!”

14But PilateΠιλᾶτοςPilatosG4091saidἔλεγενelegenG3004to them, “WhyγὰρgarG1063,whatτίtiG5101evilκακόν;kakonG2556has He doneἐποίησενepoiēsenG4160?”But they shoutedἔκραξαν·ekraxanG2896allG4057the moreG4057, “CrucifyσταύρωσονstaurōsonG4717Him!”

15WishingβουλόμενοςboulomenosG1014to satisfyἱκανὸν ποιῆσαιhikanon poiēsaiG4160 G2425the crowdὄχλῳochlōG3793,PilateΠιλᾶτοςPilatosG4091releasedἀπέλυσενapelusenG630BarabbasΒαραββᾶνBarabbanG912for them, and after having JesusἸησοῦνIēsounG2424scourgedφραγελλώσαςphragellōsasG5417,he handedπαρέδωκενparedōkenG3860Him over to be crucifiedσταυρωθῇ.¶staurōthēaG4717.
