15Labanלָבָן֙la.VanH3837saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to himלְיַעֲקֹ֔בle.ya.'a.KoH3290, “Just becauseהֲכִי־ha.khi-H3588you areאַ֔תָּה'A.tahH859my relativeאָחִ֣י'a.ChiH251,should you workוַעֲבַדְתַּ֖נִיva.'a.vad.Ta.niH5647for nothingחִנָּ֑םchi.NamH2600?Tellהַגִּ֥ידָהha.Gi.dahH5046mewhatמַה־mah-H4100your wages should beמַּשְׂכֻּרְתֶּֽךָ׃mas.kur.Te.khaH4909.”

16Now Labanוּלְלָבָ֖ןu.le.la.VanH3837had twoשְׁתֵּ֣יshe.TeiH8147daughtersבָנ֑וֹתva.NotH1323;the olderהַגְּדֹלָה֙ha.ge.do.LahH1419was namedשֵׁ֤םshemH8034Leahלֵאָ֔הle.'AhH3812,and the youngerהַקְּטַנָּ֖הha.ke.ta.NahH6996was namedוְשֵׁ֥םve.ShemH8034Rachelרָחֵֽל׃ra.ChelH7354.

17Leahלֵאָ֖הle.'AhH3812had weakרַכּ֑וֹתra.KotH7390eyesוְעֵינֵ֥יve.'ei.NeiH5869,but Rachelוְרָחֵל֙ve.ra.ChelH7354wasהָֽיְתָ֔הha.ye.TahH1961shapelyיְפַת־ תֹּ֖אַרye.fat- To.'arH3303 H8389and beautifulוִיפַ֥ת מַרְאֶֽה׃vi.Fat mar.'EhH3303 H4758.

18Since Jacobיַעֲקֹ֖בya.'a.KoH3290אֶת־'et-H853lovedוַיֶּאֱהַ֥בvai.ye.'e.HavH157Rachelרָחֵ֑לra.ChelH7354,he answeredוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “I will serveאֶֽעֱבָדְךָ֙'e.'e.va.de.KhaH5647you sevenשֶׁ֣בַעShe.va'H7651yearsשָׁנִ֔יםsha.NimH8141for your youngerהַקְּטַנָּֽה׃ha.ke.ta.NahH6996daughterבִּתְּךָ֖bi.te.KhaH1323Rachelבְּרָחֵ֥לbe.ra.ChelH7354.”

19Labanלָבָ֗ןla.VanH3837repliedוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Betterט֤וֹבTovH2896that I giveתִּתִּ֣יti.TiH5414herאֹתָ֣הּ'o.TahH853to youthanמִתִּתִּ֥יmi.ti.TiH5414אֹתָ֖הּ'o.TahH853לְאִ֣ישׁle.'IshH376to anotherאַחֵ֑ר'a.CherH312.Stay hereשְׁבָ֖הshe.VahH3427with meעִמָּדִֽי׃'i.ma.DiH5978.”

20So Jacobיַעֲקֹ֛בya.'a.KoH3290servedוַיַּעֲבֹ֧דvai.ya.'a.VodH5647sevenשֶׁ֣בַעShe.va'H7651yearsשָׁנִ֑יםsha.NimH8141for Rachelבְּרָחֵ֖לbe.ra.ChelH7354,yet it seemedוַיִּהְי֤וּvai.yih.YuH1961בְעֵינָיו֙ve.'ei.NavH5869buta fewאֲחָדִ֔ים'a.cha.DimH259daysכְּיָמִ֣יםke.ya.MimH3117because of his loveבְּאַהֲבָת֖וֹbe.'a.ha.va.ToH160for herאֹתָֽהּ׃'o.TahH853.

21Finally Jacobיַעֲקֹ֤בya.'a.KoH3290saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Labanלָבָן֙la.VanH3837, “Grantהָבָ֣הha.VahH3051meאֶת־'et-H853my wifeאִשְׁתִּ֔י'ish.TiH802,forכִּ֥יkiH3588my timeיָמָ֑יya.MaiH3117is completeמָלְא֖וּmal.'UH4390,and I want to sleep withוְאָב֖וֹאָהve.'a.Vo.'ahH935herאֵלֶֽיהָ׃'e.Lei.haH413.”

22וַיֶּאֱסֹ֥ףvai.ye.'e.SofH622So Labanלָבָ֛ןla.VanH3837אֶת־'et-H853invited allכָּל־kol-H3605the menאַנְשֵׁ֥י'an.SheiH582of that placeהַמָּק֖וֹםha.ma.KomH4725and preparedוַיַּ֥עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213a feastמִשְׁתֶּֽה׃mish.TehH4960.

23But whenוַיְהִ֣יvay.HiH1961evening cameבָעֶ֔רֶבva.'E.revH6153,Laban tookוַיִּקַּח֙vai.yi.KachH3947אֶת־'et-H853his daughterבִתּ֔וֹvi.ToH1323Leahלֵאָ֣הle.'AhH3812and gaveוַיָּבֵ֥אvai.ya.Ve'H935herאֹתָ֖הּ'o.TahH853to Jacobאֵלָ֑יו'e.LavH413,and he slept withוַיָּבֹ֖אvai.ya.Vo'H935herאֵלֶֽיהָ׃'e.Lei.haH413.

24And Labanלָבָן֙la.VanH3837אֶת־'et-H853gaveוַיִּתֵּ֤ןvai.yi.TenH5414his servant girlשִׁפְחָת֑וֹshif.cha.ToH8198Zilpahזִלְפָּ֖הzil.PahH2153to his daughterבִתּ֖וֹvi.ToH1323Leahלְלֵאָ֥הle.le.'AhH3812as her maidservantשִׁפְחָֽה׃shif.ChahH8198.

25When morningבַבֹּ֔קֶרva.Bo.kerH1242cameוַיְהִ֣יvay.HiH1961,thereוְהִנֵּה־ הִ֖ואve.hi.neh- hi'H2009 H1931was Leahלֵאָ֑הle.'AhH3812! “Whatמַה־ זֹּאת֙mah- zoTH4100 H2063have you doneעָשִׂ֣יתָ'a.Si.taH6213to me?”Jacob saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Labanלָבָ֗ןla.VanH3837. “Wasn’tהֲלֹ֤אha.Lo'H3808it for Rachelבְרָחֵל֙ve.ra.ChelH7354that I servedעָבַ֣דְתִּי'a.Vad.tiH5647youעִמָּ֔ךְ'i.MakhH5973?Whyוְלָ֖מָּהve.La.mahH4100have you deceived meרִמִּיתָֽנִי׃ri.mi.Ta.niH7411?”

26Labanלָבָ֔ןla.VanH3837repliedוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “It is notלֹא־lo'-H3808our customיֵעָשֶׂ֥ה כֵ֖ןye.'a.Seh khenH6213 H3651hereבִּמְקוֹמֵ֑נוּbim.ko.Me.nuH4725to give the younger daughterהַצְּעִירָ֖הha.tze.'i.RahH6810in marriageלָתֵ֥תla.TetH5414beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the olderהַבְּכִירָֽה׃ha.be.khi.RahH1067.

27Finishמַלֵּ֖אma.Le'H4390thisזֹ֑אתZotH2063week’s celebrationשְׁבֻ֣עַ גַּם־she.Vu.a' gam-H7620 H1571אֶת־'et-H853,and we will giveוְנִתְּנָ֨הve.ni.te.NahH5414youthe younger oneזֹ֗אתZotH2063אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834in return forתַּעֲבֹ֣דta.'a.VodH5647anotherע֖וֹד אֲחֵרֽוֹת׃od 'a.che.RotH5750 H312sevenשֶֽׁבַע־she.va'-H7651yearsשָׁנִ֥יםsha.NimH8141עִמָּדִ֔י'i.ma.DiH5978of workבַּעֲבֹדָה֙ba.'a.vo.DahH5656.”

28And Jacobיַעֲקֹב֙ya.'a.KoH3290didוַיַּ֤עַשׂvai.Ya.'asH6213just thatכֵּ֔ןKenH3651.He finishedוַיְמַלֵּ֖אvay.ma.Le'H4390the week’s celebrationשְׁבֻ֣עַ זֹ֑אתshe.Vu.a' ZotH7620 H2063,and Laban gaveוַיִּתֶּן־vai.yi.ten-H5414himאֶת־'et-H853his daughterבִּתּ֖וֹbi.ToH1323Rachelרָחֵ֥לra.ChelH7354as his wifeלְאִשָּֽׁה׃le.'i.ShahH802.

29Laban alsoלָבָן֙la.VanH3837gaveוַיִּתֵּ֤ןvai.yi.TenH5414his servant girlשִׁפְחָת֑וֹshif.cha.ToH8198Bilhahבִּלְהָ֖הbil.HahH1090to his daughterבִּתּ֔וֹbi.ToH1323אֶת־'et-H853Rachelלְרָחֵ֣לle.ra.ChelH7354as hermaidservantלְשִׁפְחָֽה׃le.shif.ChahH8198.

30Jacob slept withוַיָּבֹא֙ אֶל־vai.ya.Vo' 'el-H935 H413Rachelרָחֵ֔לra.ChelH7354as wellגַּ֣םgamH1571,and indeedגַּֽם־gam-H1571אֶת־'et-H853,he lovedוַיֶּאֱהַ֥בvai.ye.'e.HavH157Rachelרָחֵ֖לra.ChelH7354more than Leahמִלֵּאָ֑הmi.le.'AhH3812.So he workedוַיַּעֲבֹ֣דvai.ya.'a.VodH5647forעִמּ֔וֹi.MoH5973Labanע֖וֹדodH5750anotherאֲחֵרֽוֹת׃'a.che.RotH312sevenשֶֽׁבַע־she.va'-H7651yearsשָׁנִ֥יםsha.NimH8141.
