17וַיְהִי֩vay.HiH1961As soon as the men had broughtכְהוֹצִיאָ֨םkhe.ho.tzi.'AmH3318themאֹתָ֜ם'o.TamH853outהַח֗וּצָהha.Chu.tzahH2351,one of them saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559, “Runהִמָּלֵ֣טhi.ma.LetH4422forעַל־'al-H5921your livesנַפְשֶׁ֔ךָnaf.She.khaH5315!Do notאַל־'al-H408lookתַּבִּ֣יטta.BitH5027backאַחֲרֶ֔יךָ'a.cha.Rei.khaH310,and do notוְאַֽל־ve.'al-H408stopתַּעֲמֹ֖דta.'a.ModH5975anywhereבְּכָל־be.kholH3605on the plainהַכִּכָּ֑רha.ki.KarH3603!Fleeהִמָּלֵ֖טhi.ma.LetH4422to the mountainsהָהָ֥רָהha.Ha.rahH2022,orפֶּן־pen-H6435you will be swept awayתִּסָּפֶֽה׃ti.sa.PehH5595!”
19Your servantעַבְדְּךָ֣'av.de.KhaH5650has indeedהִנֵּה־ נָ֠אhi.neh- na'H2009H4994foundמָצָ֨אma.Tza'H4672favorחֵן֮chenH2580in your sightבְּעֵינֶיךָ֒be.'ei.nei.KhaH5869,and you have shown meעָשִׂ֙יתָ֙ עִמָּדִ֔י'a.Si.ta 'i.ma.DiH6213H5978greatוַתַּגְדֵּ֣לva.tag.DelH1431kindnessחַסְדְּךָ֗chas.de.KhaH2617אֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834by sparingלְהַחֲי֖וֹתle.ha.cha.YotH2421אֶת־'et-H853my lifeנַפְשִׁ֑יnaf.ShiH5315.But Iוְאָנֹכִ֗יve.'a.no.KhiH595cannotלֹ֤א אוּכַל֙lo' 'u.KhalH3808H3201runלְהִמָּלֵ֣טle.hi.ma.LetH4422to the mountainsהָהָ֔רָה פֶּן־ha.Ha.rah pen-H2022H6435;the disasterהָרָעָ֖הha.ra.'AhH7451will overtake meתִּדְבָּקַ֥נִיtid.ba.Ka.niH1692,and I will dieוָמַֽתִּי׃va.Ma.tiH4191.
20Lookהִנֵּה־hi.neh-H2009,thereהַזֹּ֧אתha.ZotH2063isa townהָעִ֨ירha.'IrH5892nearbyקְרֹבָ֛הke.ro.VahH7138whereשָׁ֖מָּהSha.mahH8033I can fleeלָנ֥וּסla.NusH5127,and itוְהִ֣יאve.Hi'H1931is a small placeמִצְעָ֑רmitz.'ArH4705.Pleaseנָ֠אna'H4994let me fleeאִמָּלְטָ֨ה נָּ֜א'i.mal.Tah na'H4422H4994thereשָׁ֗מָּהSha.mahH8033—is itהִ֖ואhi'H1931notהֲלֹ֥אha.Lo'H3808a small placeמִצְעָ֛רmitz.'ArH4705?Then my lifeנַפְשִֽׁי׃naf.ShiH5315will be savedוּתְחִ֥יu.te.ChiH2421.”
21“Very wellהִנֵּה֙hi.NehH2009,”he answeredוַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלָ֔יוvai.Yo.mer 'e.LavH559H413, “I will grant this requestנָשָׂ֣אתִי פָנֶ֔יךָ לַדָּבָ֣ר הַזֶּ֑הna.Sa.ti fa.Nei.kha la.da.Var ha.ZehH5375H6440H2088H1697as wellגַּ֖םgamH1571,and will notלְבִלְתִּ֛יle.vil.TiH1115demolishהָפְכִּ֥יha.fe.KiH2015אֶת־'et-H853the townהָעִ֖ירha.'IrH5892אֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834you indicateדִּבַּֽרְתָּ׃di.Bar.taH1696.
22Hurryמַהֵר֙ma.HerH4116!Runהִמָּלֵ֣טhi.ma.LetH4422there quicklyשָׁ֔מָּהSha.mahH8033,forכִּ֣יkiH3588I cannotלֹ֤א אוּכַל֙lo' 'u.KhalH3808H3201doלַעֲשׂ֣וֹתla.'a.SotH6213anythingדָּבָ֔רda.VarH1697untilעַד־'ad-H5704you reachבֹּאֲךָ֖bo.'a.KhaH935itשָׁ֑מָּהSha.mahH8033.”That is whyעַל־ כֵּ֛ן'al- kenH5921H3651the townהָעִ֖ירha.'IrH5892was calledקָרָ֥א שֵׁם־ka.Ra' shem-H7121H8034Zoarצֽוֹעַר׃Tzo.'arH6820.
24Then the LORDוַֽיהוָ֗הva.Yah.wehH3068rained downהִמְטִ֧ירhim.TirH4305sulfurגָּפְרִ֣יתga.fe.RitH1614and fireוָאֵ֑שׁva.'EshH784onעַל־'al-H5921Sodomסְדֹ֛ם וְעַל־se.Dom ve.'al-H5467H5921and Gomorrahעֲמֹרָ֖ה'a.mo.RahH6017—fromמֵאֵ֥תme.'EtH854the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068out ofמִן־min-H4480the heavensהַשָּׁמָֽיִם׃ha.sha.Ma.yimH8064.
25Thus He destroyedוַֽיַּהֲפֹךְ֙vai.ya.ha.foKhH2015אֶת־'et-H853theseהָאֵ֔לha.'ElH411וְאֵ֖תve.'EtH853citiesהֶעָרִ֣יםhe.'a.RimH5892and the entireכָּל־kol-H3605plainהַכִּכָּ֑רha.ki.KarH3603,includingוְאֵת֙ve.'EtH853allכָּל־kol-H3605the inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵ֣יyo.she.VeiH3427of the citiesהֶעָרִ֔יםhe.'a.RimH5892and everything that grewוְצֶ֖מַחve.Tze.machH6780on the groundהָאֲדָמָֽה׃ha.'a.da.MahH127.
27Early the next morningבַּבֹּ֑קֶרba.Bo.kerH1242,Abrahamאַבְרָהָ֖ם'av.ra.HamH85got upוַיַּשְׁכֵּ֥םvai.yash.KemH7925and returned toאֶל־'el-H413the placeהַ֨מָּק֔וֹםha.ma.KomH4725whereאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834he had stoodעָ֥מַד שָׁ֖ם אֶת־'A.mad sham 'et-H5975H8033H854beforeפְּנֵ֥יpe.NeiH6440the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.
28He lookedוַיַּשְׁקֵ֗ףvai.yash.KefH8259downעַל־'al-H5921towardפְּנֵ֤יpe.NeiH6440Sodomסְדֹם֙se.DomH5467and Gomorrahוַעֲמֹרָ֔ה וְעַֽל־va.'a.mo.Rah ve.'al-H6017H5921and allכָּל־ פְּנֵ֖יkol- pe.NeiH3605H6440the landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776of the plainהַכִּכָּ֑רha.ki.KarH3603,and he sawוַיַּ֗רְא וְהִנֵּ֤הvai.Yar' ve.hi.NehH7200H2009the smokeקִיטֹ֣רki.TorH7008risingעָלָה֙'a.LahH5927from the landהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776like smokeכְּקִיטֹ֖רke.ki.TorH7008from a furnaceהַכִּבְשָֽׁן׃ha.kiv.ShanH3536.
29Soוַיְהִ֗יvay.HiH1961when Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430אֶת־'et-H853destroyedבְּשַׁחֵ֤תbe.sha.ChetH7843the citiesעָרֵ֣י'a.ReiH5892of the plainהַכִּכָּ֔רha.ki.KarH3603,Heאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430אֶת־'et-H853rememberedוַיִּזְכֹּ֥רvai.yiz.KorH2142Abrahamאַבְרָהָ֑ם'av.ra.HamH85,and He broughtוַיְשַׁלַּ֤חvay.sha.LachH7971אֶת־'et-H853Lotלוֹט֙lOtH3876out of theמִתּ֣וֹךְmi.TokhH8432catastropheהַהֲפֵכָ֔הha.ha.fe.KhahH2018that destroyedבַּהֲפֹךְ֙ba.ha.foKhH2015אֶת־'et-H853the citiesהֶ֣עָרִ֔יםhe.'a.RimH5892whereאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834heלֽוֹט׃LotH3876had livedיָשַׁ֥בya.ShavH3427.
