4“Comeהָ֣בָה׀Ha.vahH3051,”they saidוַיֹּאמְר֞וּvai.yo.me.RuH559, “let us buildנִבְנֶה־niv.neh-H1129for ourselvesa cityעִ֗יר'IrH5892with a towerוּמִגְדָּל֙u.mig.DalH4026that reachesוְרֹאשׁ֣וֹve.ro.ShoH7218to the heavensבַשָּׁמַ֔יִםva.sha.Ma.yimH8064,that we may makeוְנַֽעֲשֶׂה־ve.na.'a.seh-H6213a nameשֵׁ֑םShemH8034for ourselvesand notפֶּן־pen-H6435be scatteredנָפ֖וּץna.FutzH6327overעַל־'al-H5921the faceפְּנֵ֥יpe.NeiH6440of allכָל־khol-H3605the earthהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.”

5Then the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068came downוַיֵּ֣רֶדvai.Ye.redH3381to seeלִרְאֹ֥תlir.'OtH7200אֶת־'et-H853the cityהָעִ֖ירha.'IrH5892וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853and the towerהַמִּגְדָּ֑לha.mig.DalH4026thatאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of menהָאָדָֽם׃ha.'a.DamH120were buildingבָּנ֖וּba.NuH1129.

6And the LORDיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Ifהֵ֣ןhenH2005they have begunהַחִלָּ֣םha.chi.LamH2490to doלַעֲשׂ֑וֹתla.'a.SotH6213thisוְזֶ֖הve.ZehH2088as oneאֶחָד֙'e.ChadH259peopleעַ֤ם'amH5971speaking the sameאַחַת֙ לְכֻלָּ֔ם'a.Chat le.khu.LamH3605 H259languageוְשָׂפָ֤הve.sa.FahH8193,thenוְעַתָּה֙ve.'a.TahH6258nothingלֹֽא־ כֹּ֛לlo'- kolH3808 H3605אֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834they deviseיָזְמ֖וּ לַֽעֲשֽׂוֹת׃ya.ze.Mu La.'a.SotH2161 H6213will be beyondיִבָּצֵ֣רyi.ba.TzerH1219them.

7Comeהָ֚בָהHa.vahH3051,let Us go downנֵֽרְדָ֔ה שָׁ֖םne.re.Dah shamH3381 H8033and confuseוְנָבְלָ֥הve.na.ve.LahH1101their languageשְׂפָתָ֑םse.fa.TamH8193,so thatאֲשֶׁר֙'a.SherH834they will notלֹ֣אlo'H3808understandיִשְׁמְע֔וּyish.me.'UH8085oneאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376another’sרֵעֵֽהוּ׃re.'E.huH7453speechשְׂפַ֥תse.FatH8193.”

8So the LORDיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068אֹתָ֛ם'o.TamH853scattered themוַיָּ֨פֶץvai.Ya.fetzH6327from thereמִשָּׁ֖םmi.ShamH8033overעַל־'al-H5921the faceפְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440of allכָל־khol-H3605the earthהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776,and they stoppedוַֽיַּחְדְּל֖וּvai.yach.de.LuH2308buildingלִבְנֹ֥תliv.NotH1129the cityהָעִֽיר׃ha.'IrH5892.

9That is whyעַל־ כֵּ֞ן'al- kenH5921 H3651itשְׁמָהּ֙she.MahH8034is calledקָרָ֤אka.Ra'H7121Babelבָּבֶ֔לba.VelH894,forכִּי־ki-H3588thereשָׁ֛םshamH8033the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068confusedבָּלַ֥לba.LalH1101the languageשְׂפַ֣תse.FatH8193of the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605worldהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776,and from that placeוּמִשָּׁם֙u.mi.ShamH8033the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068scattered themהֱפִיצָ֣םhe.fi.TzamH6327overעַל־'al-H5921the faceפְּנֵ֖יpe.NeiH6440of allכָּל־kol-H3605the earthהָאָֽרֶץ׃ פha.'A.retzH776.
