2When you arriveוּבָ֖אתָ שָׁ֑מָּהu.Va.ta Sha.mahH935H8033,lookוּרְאֵֽה־ שָׁ֠םu.re.'e.ho.Sha- ShamH7200H8033for Jehuיֵה֨וּאye.Hu'H3058sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Jehoshaphatיְהוֹשָׁפָ֜טye.ho.sha.FatH3092,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nimshiנִמְשִׁ֗יnim.ShiH5250.Go inוּבָ֙אתָ֙u.Va.taH935,get him awayוַהֲקֵֽמֹתוֹ֙va.ha.ke.mo.ToH6965fromמִתּ֣וֹךmi.TokhH8432his companionsאֶחָ֔יו'e.ChavH251,and takeוְהֵבֵיאתָ֥ve.he.vei.TaH935himאֹת֖וֹ'o.ToH853to an inner roomH2315.
3Then takeוְלָקַחְתָּ֤ve.la.kach.TaH3947the flaskפַךְ־fakh-H6378of oilהַשֶּׁ֙מֶן֙ha.She.menH8081,pourוְיָצַקְתָּ֣ve.ya.tzak.TaH3332it onעַל־'al-H5921his headרֹאשׁ֔וֹro.ShoH7218,and declareוְאָֽמַרְתָּ֙ve.'a.mar.TaH559, ‘This is whatכֹּֽה־koh-H3541the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559:I anointמְשַׁחְתִּ֥יךָֽme.shach.Ti.khaH4886you kingלְמֶ֖לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428overאֶל־'el-H413Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478.’Then openוּפָתַחְתָּ֥u.fa.tach.TaH6605the doorהַדֶּ֛לֶתha.De.letH1817and runוְנַ֖סְתָּהve.Nas.tahH5127.Do notוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808delayתְחַכֶּֽה׃te.cha.KehH2442!”
5and when he arrivedוַיָּבֹ֗אvai.ya.Vo'H935,the armyהַחַ֙יִל֙ha.Cha.yilH2428commandersשָׂרֵ֤יsa.ReiH8269were sittingיֹֽשְׁבִ֔יםyo.she.VimH3427thereוְהִנֵּ֨הve.hi.NehH2009. “I have a messageדָּבָ֥רda.VarH1697for youאֵלֶ֖יךָ'e.Lei.khaH413,commanderהַשָּׂ֑רha.SarH8269,”he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559. “Forאֶל־'el-H413whichמִ֣יmiH4310of usמִכֻּלָּ֔נוּmi.ku.La.nuH3605?”askedוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Jehuיֵהוּא֙ye.Hu'H3058. “For youאֵלֶ֥יךָ'e.Lei.khaH413,commanderהַשָּֽׂר׃ha.SarH8269,”he repliedוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559.
6So Jehu got upוַיָּ֙קָם֙vai.Ya.komH6965and wentוַיָּבֹ֣אvai.ya.Vo'H935into the houseהַבַּ֔יְתָהha.Bay.tahH1004,where the young prophet pouredוַיִּצֹ֥קvai.yi.TzokH3332the oilהַשֶּׁ֖מֶןha.She.menH8081onאֶל־'el-H413his headרֹאשׁ֑וֹro.ShoH7218and declaredוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “This is whatכֹּֽה־koh-H3541the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,saysאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559: ‘I anoint youמְשַׁחְתִּ֧יךָֽme.shach.Ti.khaH4886kingלְמֶ֛לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428overאֶל־'el-H413the LORD’sיְהוָ֖ה אֶל־Yah.weh 'el-H3068H413peopleעַ֥ם'amH5971Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

8The wholeכָּל־kol-H3605houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Ahabאַחְאָ֑ב'ach.'AvH256will perishוְאָבַ֖דve.'a.VadH6,and I will cut offוְהִכְרַתִּ֤יve.hikh.ra.TiH3772from Ahabלְאַחְאָב֙le.'ach.'AvH256every maleמַשְׁתִּ֣ין בְּקִ֔ירmash.Tin be.KirH8366H7023,both slaveוְעָצ֥וּרve.'a.TzurH6113and freeוְעָז֖וּבve.'a.ZuvH5800,in Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃be.Yis.ra.'ElH3478.
9I will makeוְנָֽתַתִּי֙ve.na.ta.TiH5414אֶת־'et-H853the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Ahabאַחְאָ֔ב'ach.'AvH256like the housesכְּבֵ֖יתke.VeitH1004of Jeroboamיָרָבְעָ֣םya.ra.ve.'AmH3379sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Nebatנְבָ֑טne.VatH5028andוּכְבֵ֖יתu.khe.VeitH1004Baashaבַּעְשָׁ֥אba'.Sha'H1201sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Ahijahאֲחִיָּֽה׃'a.chi.YahH281.
10Andוְאֶת־ve.'EtH853on the plotבְּחֵ֥לֶקbe.Che.lekH2506of groundat Jezreelיִזְרְעֶ֖אלyiz.re.'ElH3157the dogsהַכְּלָבִ֛יםha.ke.la.VimH3611will devourיֹאכְל֧וּyo.khe.LuH398Jezebelאִיזֶ֜בֶל'i.Ze.velH348,and there will be no oneוְאֵ֣יןve.'EinH369to buryקֹבֵ֑רko.VerH6912her.’”Then the young prophet openedוַיִּפְתַּ֥חvai.yif.TachH6605the doorהַדֶּ֖לֶתha.De.letH1817and ranוַיָּנֹֽס׃vai.ya.NosH5127.
11When Jehuוְיֵה֗וּאve.ye.Hu'H3058went outיָצָא֙ya.Tza'H3318toאֶל־'el-H413the servantsעַבְדֵ֣י'av.DeiH5650of his masterאֲדֹנָ֔יו'a.do.NavH113,they askedוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Is everything all rightהֲשָׁל֔וֹםha.sha.LomH7965?Whyמַדּ֛וּעַma.Du.a'H4069did thisהַזֶּ֖הha.ZehH2088madmanהַמְשֻׁגָּ֥עham.shu.Ga'H7696comeבָּֽא־ba'-H935to youאֵלֶ֑יךָ'e.Lei.khaH413?” “Youאַתֶּ֛ם'a.TemH859knowיְדַעְתֶּ֥םye.da'.TemH3045אֶת־'et-H853his kindהָאִ֖ישׁha.'IshH376וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853and their babbleשִׂיחֽוֹ׃si.ChoH7879,”he repliedוַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֔םvai.Yo.mer 'a.lei.HemH559H413.
12“That is a lieשֶׁ֔קֶרShe.kerH8267!”they saidוַיֹּאמְר֣וּvai.yo.me.RuH559. “Tellהַגֶּד־ha.ged-H5046usnowנָ֖אna'H4994!”So Jehu answeredוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “He talkedאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559to meאֵלַי֙'e.LaiH413about thisכָּזֹ֤אתka.ZotH2063and thatוְכָזֹאת֙ve.kha.zoTH2063,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, ‘This is whatכֹּ֚הkohH3541the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559:I anointמְשַׁחְתִּ֥יךָֽme.shach.Ti.khaH4886you kingלְמֶ֖לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428overאֶל־'el-H413Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.’”
13Quicklyוַֽיְמַהֲר֗וּvay.ma.ha.RuH4116,each manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376tookוַיִּקְחוּ֙vai.yik.ChuH3947his garmentבִּגְד֔וֹbig.DoH899and putוַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּvai.ya.Si.muH7760itunderתַחְתָּ֖יוtach.TavH8478Jehuonאֶל־'el-H413the bareגֶּ֣רֶםGe.remH1634stepsהַֽמַּעֲל֑וֹתha.ma.'a.LotH4609.Then they blewוַֽיִּתְקְעוּ֙vai.yit.ke.'UH8628the ram’s hornבַּשּׁוֹפָ֔רba.sho.FarH7782and proclaimedוַיֹּאמְר֖וּvai.yo.me.RuH559, “Jehuיֵהֽוּא׃ye.Hu'H3058is kingמָלַ֥ךְma.LakhH4427!”

16Then Jehuיֵהוּא֙ye.Hu'H3058got into his chariotוַיִּרְכַּ֤בvai.yir.KavH7392and wentוַיֵּ֣לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980to Jezreelיִזְרְעֶ֔אלָהyiz.re.'E.lahH3157,becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588Joramיוֹרָ֖םyo.RamH3141was laid upשֹׁכֵ֣בsho.KhevH7901thereשָׁ֑מָּהSha.mahH8033.And Ahaziahוַֽאֲחַזְיָה֙va.'a.chaz.YahH274kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063had gone downיָרַ֖דya.RadH3381to seeלִרְא֥וֹתlir.'otH7200אֶת־'et-H853himיוֹרָֽם׃yo.RamH3141.

27When Kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428Ahaziahוַאֲחַזְיָ֤הva.'a.chaz.YahH274of Judahיְהוּדָה֙ye.hu.DahH3063sawרָאָ֔הra.'AhH7200this,he fledוַיָּ֕נָסvai.Ya.nosH5127up the roadדֶּ֖רֶךְDe.rekhH1870toward Beth-hagganבֵּ֣ית הַגָּ֑ןbeit ha.GanH1004H1588.And Jehuיֵה֗וּאye.Hu'H3058pursued himוַיִּרְדֹּ֨ף אַחֲרָ֜יוvai.yir.Dof 'a.cha.RavH7291H310,shoutingוַ֠יֹּאמֶרVai.yo.merH559, “Shootהַכֻּ֣הוּha.Ku.huH5221himאֹת֞וֹ'o.ToH853tooגַּם־gam-H1571!” So they shot Ahaziahinאֶל־'el-H413his chariotהַמֶּרְכָּבָ֗הha.mer.ka.VahH4818on the Ascentבְּמַֽעֲלֵה־be.ma.'a.leh-H4608of Gurגוּר֙gurH1483,אֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834אֶֽת־'et-H854near Ibleamיִבְלְעָ֔םyiv.le.'AmH2991,and he fledוַיָּ֥נָסvai.Ya.nosH5127to Megiddoמְגִדּ֖וֹme.gi.DoH4023and diedוַיָּ֥מָתvai.Ya.motH4191thereשָֽׁם׃ShamH8033.

Jezebel’s Violent Death
30Now when Jehuיֵה֖וּאye.Hu'H3058arrivedוַיָּב֥וֹאvai.ya.Vo'H935in Jezreelיִזְרְעֶ֑אלָהyiz.re.'E.lahH3157,Jezebelוְאִיזֶ֣בֶלve.'i.Ze.velH348heardשָׁמְעָ֗הsha.me.'AhH8085of it.So she paintedוַתָּ֨שֶׂם בַּפּ֤וּךְva.Ta.sem ba.PukhH7760H6320her eyesעֵינֶ֙יהָ֙'ei.Nei.haH5869,adornedוַתֵּ֣יטֶבva.Tei.tevH3190אֶת־'et-H853her headרֹאשָׁ֔הּro.ShahH7218,and looked downוַתַּשְׁקֵ֖ףva.tash.KefH8259fromבְּעַ֥דbe.'AdH1157a windowהַחַלּֽוֹן׃ha.cha.LonH2474.

33“Throw her downשִׁמְט֖וּהָshim.tu.hH8058!”yelledוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Jehu.So they threw her downוַֽיִּשְׁמְט֑וּהָvai.yish.me.Tu.haH8058,and her bloodמִדָּמָ֧הּmi.da.MahH1818splatteredוַיִּ֨זvai.YizH5137onאֶל־'el-H413the wallהַקִּ֛ירha.KirH7023and onוְאֶל־ve.'el-H413the horsesהַסּוּסִ֖יםha.su.SimH5483as they trampled her underfootוַֽיִּרְמְסֶֽנָּה׃Vai.yir.me.Se.nahH7429.
34Then Jehu went inוַיָּבֹ֖אvai.ya.Vo'H935and ateוַיֹּ֣אכַלvai.Yo.khalH398and drankוַיֵּ֑שְׁתְּvai.Ye.shetH8354. “Take care ofפִּקְדוּ־ נָ֞אpik.du- na'H6485H4994אֶת־'et-H853thisהַזֹּאת֙ha.zoTH2063cursedהָאֲרוּרָ֤הha.'a.ru.RahH779woman,”he saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “and bury herוְקִבְר֔וּהָve.kiv.Ru.haH6912,forכִּ֥יkiH3588sheהִֽיא׃Hi'H1931wasthe daughterבַת־vat-H1323of a kingמֶ֖לֶךְMe.lekhH4428.”
35But when they went outוַיֵּלְכ֖וּvai.ye.le.KhuH1980to bury herלְקָבְרָ֑הּle.ka.ve.RahH6912,they foundמָ֣צְאוּMa.tze.'uH4672nothingוְלֹא־ve.lo'-H3808butכִּ֧י אִם־ki 'im-H3588H518herskullהַגֻּלְגֹּ֛לֶתha.gul.Go.letH1538,her feetוְהָרַגְלַ֖יִםve.ha.rag.La.yimH7272,and the palmsוְכַפּ֥וֹתve.kha.PotH3709of her handsהַיָּדָֽיִם׃hai.ya.Da.yimH3027.
