7Then Elishaאֱלִישָׁע֙'e.li.Sha'H477cameוַיָּבֹ֤אvai.ya.Vo'H935to Damascusדַּמֶּ֔שֶׂקda.Me.sekH1834while Ben-hadadH1130kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Aramאֲרָ֖ם'a.RamH758was sickחֹלֶ֑הcho.LehH2470,and the king was toldוַיֻּגַּד־vai.yu.gad-H5046לֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “The manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֖ים עַד־ha.'E.lo.Him 'ad-H430 H5704has comeבָּ֛אba'H935hereהֵֽנָּה׃He.nahH2008.”

8So the kingהַמֶּ֜לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Hazaelחֲזָהאֵ֗לcha.za.h.'ElH2371, “Takeקַ֤חkachH3947a giftמִנְחָ֔הmin.ChahH4503in your handבְּיָֽדְךָ֙be.ya.de.KhaH3027,goוְלֵ֕ךְve.LekhH1980to meetלִקְרַ֖אתlik.RatH7122the manאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִ֑יםha.'E.lo.HimH430,and inquireוְדָרַשְׁתָּ֨ve.da.rash.TaH1875ofאֶת־'et-H853the LORDיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068through himמֵֽאוֹתוֹ֙me.'o.ToH853לֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, ‘Will I recoverהַאֶחְיֶ֖הha.'ech.YehH2421from thisזֶֽה׃ZehH2088illnessמֵחֳלִ֥יme.cho.LiH2483?’”

9So Hazaelחֲזָאֵל֮cha.za.'ElH2371wentוַיֵּ֣לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980to meet Elishaלִקְרָאתוֹ֒lik.ra.ToH7122,takingוַיִּקַּ֨חvai.yi.KachH3947with himבְיָדוֹ֙ve.ya.DoH3027a giftמִנְחָ֤הmin.ChahH4503of fortyאַרְבָּעִ֣ים'ar.ba.'ImH705camel loadsמַשָּׂ֖א גָּמָ֑לma.Sa' ga.MalH4853 H1581of everyוְכָל־ve.kholH3605good thingט֣וּבtuvH2898from Damascusדַּמֶּ֔שֶׂקda.Me.sekH1834.And he went inוַיָּבֹא֙vai.ya.Vo'H935and stoodוַיַּעֲמֹ֣דvai.ya.'a.ModH5975before himלְפָנָ֔יוle.fa.NavH6440and saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Your sonבִּנְךָ֨bin.KhaH1121Ben-hadadH1130kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Aramאֲרָם֙'a.RamH758has sent meשְׁלָחַ֤נִי אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙she.la.Cha.ni 'e.Lei.khaH7971 H413to askלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, ‘Will I recoverהַאֶחְיֶ֖הha.'ech.YehH2421from thisזֶֽה׃ZehH2088illnessמֵחֳלִ֥יme.cho.LiH2483?’”

10Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֔ע'e.li.Sha'H477answeredוַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֵלָיו֙vai.Yo.mer 'e.LavH559 H413, “Goלֵ֥ךְlekhH1980and tell himאֱמָר־'e.mor-H559 H3808, ‘You will surely recoverH2421.’But the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068has shown meוְהִרְאַ֥נִיve.hir.'A.niH7200thatכִּֽי־ki-H3588in fact he will dieH4191.”

11Elishafixedוַיַּעֲמֵ֥דvai.ya.'a.MedH5975אֶת־'et-H853his gazeפָּנָ֖יוpa.NavH6440steadilyוַיָּ֣שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760on himuntilעַד־'ad-H5704Hazael became uncomfortableבֹּ֑שׁBoshH954.Then the manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376of Godהָאֱלֹהִֽים׃ha.'E.lo.HimH430began to weepוַיֵּ֖בְךְּvai.Ye.vekH1058.

12“Whyמַדּ֖וּעַma.Du.a'H4069is my lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113weepingבֹכֶ֑הvo.KhehH1058?”askedוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Hazaelחֲזָאֵ֔לcha.za.'ElH2371. “Becauseכִּֽי־ki-H3588I knowיָדַ֡עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045אֵ֣ת'etH853אֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834the evilרָעָ֗הra.'AhH7451you will doתַּעֲשֶׂה֩ta.'a.SehH6213to the Israelitesלִבְנֵ֨י יִשְׂרָאֵ֜לliv.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478,” Elisharepliedוַיֹּ֡אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559. “You will setתְּשַׁלַּ֤חte.sha.LachH7971fireבָּאֵשׁ֙ba.'EshH784to their fortressesמִבְצְרֵיהֶ֞םmiv.tze.rei.HemH4013,killתַּהֲרֹ֔גta.ha.RogH2026their young menוּבַחֻֽרֵיהֶם֙u.va.chu.rei.HemH970with the swordבַּחֶ֣רֶבba.Che.revH2719,dash their little onesוְעֹלְלֵיהֶ֣םve.'o.le.lei.HemH5768to piecesתְּרַטֵּ֔שׁte.ra.TeshH7376,and rip openתְּבַקֵּֽעַ׃te.va.Ke.a'H1234their pregnant womenוְהָרֹתֵיהֶ֖םve.ha.ro.tei.HemH2030.”

13“Butכִּ֣יkiH3588how couldמָ֤הmahH4100your servantעַבְדְּךָ֙'av.de.KhaH5650,a mere dogהַכֶּ֔לֶבha.Ke.levH3611כִּ֣יkiH3588,doיַעֲשֶׂ֔הya.'a.SehH6213suchהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088a monstrousהַגָּד֖וֹלha.ga.DolH1419thingהַדָּבָ֥רha.da.VarH1697?”saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559Hazaelחֲזָהאֵ֔לcha.za.h.'ElH2371.And Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֔ע'e.li.Sha'H477answeredוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “The LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068has shown meהִרְאַ֧נִיhir.'A.niH7200that youאֹתְךָ֖'o.te.KhaH853will bekingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428overעַל־'al-H5921Aramאֲרָֽם׃'a.RamH758.”

14So Hazael leftוַיֵּ֣לֶךְ׀vai.Ye.lekhH1980מֵאֵ֣תme.'EtH854Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֗ע'e.li.Sha'H477and wentוַיָּבֹא֙vai.ya.Vo'H935toאֶל־'el-H413his masterאֲדֹנָ֔יו'a.do.NavH113,who askedוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559him, “Whatמָֽה־mah-H4100did Elishaאֱלִישָׁ֑ע'e.li.Sha'H477sayאָמַ֥ר'a.MarH559to you?”And he repliedוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “He told meאָ֥מַר'A.marH559thatyou would surely recoverH2421.”

15Butוַיְהִ֣יvay.HiH1961the next dayמִֽמָּחֳרָ֗תmi.mo.cho.RatH4283Hazael tookוַיִּקַּ֤חvai.yi.KachH3947a thick clothהַמַּכְבֵּר֙ha.makh.BerH4346,dippedוַיִּטְבֹּ֣לvai.yit.BolH2881it in waterבַּמַּ֔יִםba.Ma.yimH4325,and spreadוַיִּפְרֹ֥שׂvai.yif.RosH6566it overעַל־'al-H5921the king’s faceפָּנָ֖יוpa.NavH6440.So Ben-hadad diedוַיָּמֹ֑תvai.ya.MotH4191,and Hazaelחֲזָהאֵ֖לcha.za.h.'ElH2371reignedוַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְvai.yim.LokhH4427in his placeתַּחְתָּֽיו׃ פtach.TavH8478.
