3When the people of Ashdodאַשְׁדּוֹדִים֙'ash.do.DimH796got up earlyוַיַּשְׁכִּ֤מוּvai.yash.Ki.muH7925the next morningמִֽמָּחֳרָ֔תmi.mo.cho.RatH4283,thereוְהִנֵּ֣הve.hi.NehH2009was Dagonדָג֗וֹןda.GonH1712,fallenנֹפֵ֤לno.FelH5307on his faceלְפָנָיו֙ אַ֔רְצָהle.fa.Nav 'Ar.tzahH6440 H776beforeלִפְנֵ֖יlif.NeiH6440the arkאֲר֣וֹן'a.RonH727of the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068.So they tookוַיִּקְחוּ֙vai.yik.ChuH3947אֶת־'et-H853Dagonדָּג֔וֹןda.GonH1712and returnedוַיָּשִׁ֥בוּvai.ya.Shi.vuH7725himאֹת֖וֹ'o.ToH853to his placeלִמְקוֹמֽוֹ׃lim.ko.MoH4725.

4But when they got up earlyוַיַּשְׁכִּ֣מוּvai.yash.Ki.muH7925the nextמִֽמָּחֳרָת֒mi.mo.cho.RatH4283morningבַבֹּקֶר֮va.bo.KerH1242,thereוְהִנֵּ֣הve.hi.NehH2009was Dagonדָג֗וֹןda.GonH1712,fallenנֹפֵ֤לno.FelH5307on his faceלְפָנָיו֙ אַ֔רְצָהle.fa.Nav 'Ar.tzahH6440 H776beforeלִפְנֵ֖יlif.NeiH6440the arkאֲר֣וֹן'a.RonH727of the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,with his headוְרֹ֨אשׁ דָּג֜וֹןve.Rosh da.GonH7218 H1712וּשְׁתֵּ֣י׀u.she.TeiH8147andכַּפּ֣וֹתka.PotH3709his handsיָדָ֗יוya.DavH3027broken offכְּרֻתוֹת֙ke.ru.tOtH3772and lying onאֶל־'el-H413the thresholdהַמִּפְתָּ֔ןha.mif.TanH4670.Onlyרַ֥קrakH7535the torsoדָּג֖וֹןda.GonH1712remainedנִשְׁאַ֥ר עָלָֽיו׃nish.'Ar 'a.LavH7604 H5921.

5That is whyעַל־ כֵּ֡ן'al- kenH5921 H3651,toעַ֖ד'adH5704thisהַזֶּֽה׃ סha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֥וֹםhai.YomH3117,the priestsכֹהֲנֵ֨יkho.ha.NeiH3548of Dagonדָג֜וֹןda.GonH1712and allוְכָֽל־ve.kholH3605who enterהַבָּאִ֧יםha.ba.'ImH935the templeבֵּית־beit-H1004of Dagonדָּג֛וֹןda.GonH1712in Ashdodבְּאַשְׁדּ֑וֹדbe.'ash.DodH795do notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808stepיִדְרְכוּ֩yid.re.KhuH1869onעַל־'al-H5921the thresholdמִפְתַּ֥ן דָּג֖וֹןmif.Tan da.GonH4670 H1712.

6Now the handיַד־yad-H3027of the LORDיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068was heavyוַתִּכְבַּ֧דva.tikh.BadH3513onאֶל־'el-H413the people of Ashdodהָאַשְׁדּוֹדִ֖יםha.'ash.do.DimH796andאֹתָם֙'o.TamH853its vicinityגְּבוּלֶֽיהָ׃ge.vu.Lei.haH1366,ravaging themוַיְשִׁמֵּ֑םvay.shi.MemH8074and afflictingוַיַּ֤ךְvai.YakhH5221themאֶת־'et-H853with tumorsH6076וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853אַשְׁדּ֖וֹד'ash.DodH795.

7And when the menאַנְשֵֽׁי־'an.shei-H582of Ashdodאַשְׁדּ֖וֹד'ash.DodH795sawוַיִּרְא֥וּvai.yir.'UH7200what was happeningכִּֽי־ כֵ֑ןki- KhenH3588 H3651,they saidוְאָמְר֗וּve.'a.me.RuH559, “The arkאֲר֨וֹן'a.RonH727of the Godאֱלֹהֵ֤י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478must notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808stayיֵשֵׁ֞בye.ShevH3427here with usעִמָּ֔נוּ'i.Ma.nuH5973,becauseכִּֽי־ki-H3588His handיָדוֹ֙ya.DoH3027is heavyקָשְׁתָ֤הka.she.TahH7185upon usעָלֵ֔ינוּ'a.Lei.nuH5921and uponוְעַ֖לve.'AlH5921our godאֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃'e.lo.Hei.nuH430Dagonדָּג֥וֹןda.GonH1712.”
