1 Chronicles 19:7-15

7So they hiredH7936 them thirtyH7970 and twoH8147 thousandH505 chariotsH7393, and the kingH4428 of MaacahH4601 and his peopleH5971, who cameH935 and encampedH2583 before MedebaH4311. And the children of AmmonH5983 gatheredH622 themselves together from their citiesH5892, and cameH935 to battleH4421. 8And when DavidH1732 heardH8085 of it, he sentH7971 JoabH3097, and all the hostH6635 of the mightyH1368 menH1368. 9And the children of AmmonH5983 cameH935 out, and put the battleH4421 in array at the gate of the cityH5892: and the kingsH4428 that were comeH935 were by themselves in the fieldH7704.

10Now when JoabH3097 sawH7200 that the battleH4421 wasH1961 set against him before and behind, he choseH977 of all the choice menH970 of IsraelH3478, and put them in array against the Syrians. 11And the restH3499 of the peopleH5971 he committed into the handH3027 of AbishaiH52 his brotherH251; and they putH5414 themselves in array against the children of AmmonH5983. 12And he saidH559, If the Syrians beH1961 too strongH2388 for me, then thou shalt help me; but if the children of AmmonH5983 beH1961 too strongH2388 for thee, then I will help thee. 13Be of goodH2896 courage, and let us play the man for our peopleH5971, and for the citiesH5892 of our GodH430: and Jehovah do that which seemeth him goodH2896. 14So JoabH3097 and the peopleH5971 that were with him drewH5066 nigh before the Syrians unto the battleH4421; and they fledH5127 before him. 15And when the children of AmmonH5983 sawH7200 that the Syrians were fledH5127, they likewise fledH5127 before AbishaiH52 his brotherH251, and entered into the cityH5892. Then JoabH3097 cameH935 to JerusalemH3389.
