As I liveH2416, saith the LordH136 GODH136, I will notH518 be inquiredH1875 of by youH859. 4Wilt thou judgeH8199 them, sonH1121 of manH120, wilt thou judgeH8199 them? Cause them to knowH3045 the abominationsH8441 of their fathersH1; 5and sayH559 unto them, ThusH3541 saith the LordH3068 GODH430: In the dayH3117 when I choseH977 IsraelH3478, and liftedH5375 upH5375 mine handH3027 unto the seedH2233 of the houseH1004 of JacobH3290, and madeH3045 myselfH589 knownH3045 unto them in the landH776 of EgyptH4714, when I liftedH5375 upH5375 mine handH3027 unto them, SayingH559, I am the LORDH3068 your GodH430; 6in that dayH3117 I liftedH5375 upH5375 mine handH3027 unto them, to bringH3318 them forthH3318 outH3318 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714 intoH413 a landH776 that I had espied for them, flowingH2100 with milkH2461 and honeyH1706, whichH834 is the glory of allH3605 landsH776: 7And I saidH559 unto them, CastH7993 ye awayH7993 everyH376 manH376 the abominationsH8251 of his eyesH5869, and defileH2930 notH408 yourselves with the idolsH1544 of EgyptH4714; I am the LORDH3068 your GodH430. 8But they rebelledH4784 againstH5921 meH413, and would notH3808 hearken unto meH413; they didH3808 notH3808 everyH376 manH376 castH7993 awayH7993 the abominationsH8251 of their eyesH5869, neitherH3808 didH3808 they forsakeH5800 the idolsH1544 of EgyptH4714: then I saidH559 I would pourH8210 outH8210 my furyH2534 uponH5921 them, to accomplishH3615 my angerH639 againstH5921 them in the midstH8432 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 9But I wrought for my name’sH8034 sakeH4616, that it should notH1115 be profanedH2490 in the sightH5869 of the nationsH1471, among whomH834 they were, in whoseH834 sightH5869 I madeH6213 myselfH3045 knownH3045 unto them, in bringingH3318 them forthH3318 outH3318 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 10SoH3318 I caused them to goH3318 forthH3318 outH3318 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and broughtH935 them intoH413 the wildernessH4057. 11And I gaveH5414 them my statutesH2708, and shewed them my judgmentsH4941, whichH834 ifH834 a manH120 doH6213, he shall live in them. 12MoreoverH1571 also I gaveH5414 them my sabbathsH7676, to be a signH226 betweenH996 meH5414 and them, that they might knowH3045 that I am the LORDH3068 that sanctifyH6942 them. 13But the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 rebelledH4784 againstH5921 meH5921 in the wildernessH4057: they walkedH1980 notH3808 in my statutesH2708, and they rejectedH3988 my judgmentsH4941, whichH834 ifH834 a manH120 doH6213, he shall liveH1980 in them; and my sabbathsH7676 they greatlyH3966 profanedH2490: then I saidH559 I would pourH8210 outH8210 my furyH2534 uponH5921 them in the wildernessH4057, to consumeH3615 them. 14But I wrought for my name’sH8034 sakeH4616, that it should notH1115 be profanedH2490 in the sightH5869 of the nationsH1471, in whoseH834 sightH5869 I broughtH3318 them outH3318. 15MoreoverH1571 also I liftedH5375 upH5375 my handH3027 unto them in the wildernessH4057, that I would notH1115 bringH935 them intoH413 the landH776 whichH834 I had givenH5414 them, flowingH2100 with milkH2461 and honeyH1706, whichH834 is the glory of allH3605 landsH776; 16becauseH3588 they rejectedH3988 my judgmentsH4941, and walkedH1980 notH3808 in my statutesH2708, and profanedH2490 my sabbathsH7676: for their heartH3820 wentH1980 afterH310 their idolsH1544. 17Nevertheless mine eyeH5869 sparedH2347 them from destroyingH7843 them, neitherH3808 didH6213 I makeH6213 a fullH3617 endH3617 of them in the wildernessH4057. 18And I saidH559 unto their childrenH1121 in the wildernessH4057, Walk ye notH408 in the statutesH2706 of your fathersH1, neitherH408 observeH8104 their judgmentsH4941, norH408 defileH2930 yourselves with their idolsH1544: 19I am the LORDH3068 your GodH430; walk in my statutesH2708, and keepH8104 my judgmentsH4941, and doH6213 them: 20and hallow my sabbathsH7676; and they shall be a signH226 betweenH996 meH589 and youH3588, that ye may knowH3045 that I am the LORDH3068 your GodH430. 21But the childrenH1121 rebelledH4784 againstH5921 meH5921; they walkedH1980 notH3808 in my statutesH2708, neitherH3808 keptH8104 my judgmentsH4941 to doH6213 them, whichH834 ifH834 a manH120 doH6213, he shall liveH1980 in them; they profanedH2490 my sabbathsH7676: then I saidH559 I would pourH8210 outH8210 my furyH2534 uponH5921 them, to accomplishH3615 my angerH639 againstH5921 them in the wildernessH4057. 22Nevertheless I withdrewH7725 mine handH3027, and wrought for my name’sH8034 sakeH4616, that it should notH1115 he profanedH2490 in the sightH5869 of the nationsH1471, in whoseH834 sightH5869 I broughtH3318 them forthH3318. 23MoreoverH1571 I liftedH5375 upH5375 mine handH3027 unto them in the wildernessH4057, that I would scatterH2219 them among the nationsH1471, and disperseH2219 them throughH3027 the countriesH776, 24becauseH3282 they had notH3808 executed my judgmentsH4941, but had rejectedH3988 my statutesH2708, and had profanedH2490 my sabbathsH7676, and their eyesH5869 were afterH310 their fathers’H1 idolsH1544. 25MoreoverH1571 also I gaveH5414 them statutesH2706 that were notH3808 goodH2896, and judgmentsH4941 wherein they should notH3808 liveH2421; 26and I polluted them in their own giftsH4979, in that they causedH834 to passH5674 throughH5674 the fire allH3605 that openeth the wombH7356, that I might makeH3045 them desolateH8074, to the end that they might knowH3045 that I am the LORDH3068. 27Therefore, sonH1121 of manH120, speakH1696 unto the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, and sayH559 unto them, ThusH3541 saith the LordH136 GODH136: In this moreoverH3541 have your fathersH1 blasphemedH1442 meH413, in that they have committedH4603 a trespassH4604 againstH413 meH413. 28For when I had broughtH935 them intoH413 the landH776, whichH834 I liftedH5375 upH5375 mine handH3027 to giveH5414 unto them, then they sawH7200 everyH3605 highH7311 hillH1389, and everyH3605 thick treeH6086, and they offeredH2076 there their sacrificesH2077, and there they presentedH5414 the provocation of their offering, there also they madeH5414 their sweet savour, and they poured outH413 there their drink offeringsH2077. 29Then I saidH559 unto them, WhatH4100 meaneth the highH1116 placeH1116 whereunto ye goH935? SoH7121 the nameH8034 thereof is calledH7121 BamahH1117 unto this dayH3117. 30Wherefore sayH559 unto the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, ThusH3541 saith the LordH136 GODH136: DoH1870 ye pollute yourselves afterH310 the mannerH1870 of your fathersH1? and go ye a whoring afterH310 their abominationsH8251? 31and when ye offerH5375 your giftsH4979, when ye makeH2930 your sonsH1121 to passH5674 throughH5674 the fireH784, doH518 ye pollute yourselves with allH3605 your idolsH1544, unto this dayH3117? and shall I be inquiredH1875 of by youH859, O houseH1004 of IsraelH3478? As I liveH2416, saith the LordH136 GODH136, I will notH518 be inquiredH1875 of by youH859: 32and that whichH834 cometh intoH5921 your mindH7307 shall notH3808 be at allH5927; in that ye sayH559, WeH834 will be as the nationsH1471, as the familiesH4940 of the countriesH776, to serveH8334 woodH6086 and stoneH68. 33As I liveH2416, saith the LordH136 GODH136, surelyH518 with a mightyH2389 handH3027, and with a stretchedH5186 outH5186 armH2220, and with furyH2534 pouredH8210 outH5186, will I be kingH4427 over youH518: 34and I will bringH3318 youH834 outH3318 from the peoplesH5971, and will gatherH6908 youH834 outH3318 of the countriesH776 whereinH834 ye are scatteredH6327, with a mightyH2389 handH3027, and with a stretchedH5186 outH3318 armH2220, and with furyH2534 pouredH8210 outH3318. 35and I will bringH935 youH6440 intoH413 the wildernessH4057 of the peoplesH5971, and there will I pleadH8199 with youH6440 faceH6440 to faceH6440. 36Like as I pleaded with your fathersH1 in the wildernessH4057 of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, soH3651 will I pleadH8199 with youH834, saith the LordH136 GODH136. 37And I will cause youH935 to passH5674 underH8478 the rodH7626, and I will bringH935 youH935 intoH935 the bondH4562 of the covenantH1285; 38and I will purgeH1305 outH3318 from among youH3588 the rebelsH4775, and them that transgressH6586 againstH413 meH413; I will bringH935 them forthH3318 outH3318 of the landH776 whereH4033 they sojournH4033, but they shall notH3808 enterH935 intoH413 the landH776 of IsraelH3478: and ye shall knowH3045 that I am the LORDH3068. 39As for youH859, O houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, thusH3541 saith the LordH136 GODH136: GoH2490 ye, serveH5647 everyH376 one his idolsH1544, and hereafter also, ifH518 ye will notH3808 hearken unto meH413: but my holyH6944 nameH8034 shall ye noH3808 moreH5750 profaneH2490 with your giftsH4979, and with your idolsH1544. 40For in mine holyH6944 mountainH2022, in the mountainH2022 of the heightH4791 of IsraelH3478, saith the LordH136 GODH136, there shall allH3605 the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, allH3605 of them, serveH5647 meH1875 in the landH776: there will I acceptH7521 them, and there will I requireH1875 your offeringsH8641, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with allH3605 your holyH6944 things. 41As a sweet savour will I acceptH7521 youH834, when I bringH3318 youH834 outH3318 from the peoplesH5971, and gatherH6908 youH834 outH3318 of the countriesH776 whereinH834 ye have been scatteredH6327; and I will be sanctifiedH6942 in youH834 in the sightH5869 of the nationsH1471. 42And ye shall knowH3045 that I am the LORDH3068, when I shall bringH935 youH834 intoH413 the landH776 of IsraelH3478, intoH413 the countryH776 whichH834 I liftedH5375 upH5375 mine handH3027 to giveH5414 unto your fathersH1. 43And there shall ye rememberH2142 your waysH1870, and allH3605 your doings, whereinH834 ye have polluted yourselves; and ye shall loathe yourselves in your ownH6440 sightH6440 for allH3605 your evils that ye have committedH6213. 44And ye shall knowH3045 that I am the LORDH3068, when I have wrought with youH3588 for my name’sH8034 sakeH4616, notH3808 according to your evilH7451 waysH1870, norH3808 according to your corruptH7843 doings, O ye houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, saith the LordH3068 GODH3068. 45And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, 46Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the field in the South; 47and say to the forest of the South, Hear the word of the LORD; Thus saith the Lord GOD: Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burnt thereby. 48And all flesh shall see that I the LORD have kindled it: it shall not be quenched. 49Then said I, Ah Lord GOD! they say of me, Is he not a speaker of parables?
