Leviticus 19

Idolatry Forbidden

Then the LordH3068 spokeH1696 to MosesH4872, sayingH559:

“SpeakH1696 to allH3605 the congregationH5712 of the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 and sayH559 to them, ‘1You shall be holyH6918, for I the LordH3068 your GodH430 am holyH6918. 3EveryH376 oneH376 of you 2shall revereH3372 his motherH517 and his fatherH1, and you shall keepH8104 3My SabbathsH7676; 4I am the LordH3068 your GodH430. 4Do not turnH6437 to 5idolsH457 or makeH6213 for yourselves castH4541 metalH4541 6godsH430; I am the LordH3068 your GodH430.

‘Now whenH3588 you offerH2076 a sacrificeH2077 of peaceH8002 offeringsH8002 to the LordH3068, you shall offerH2076 it so that you may be acceptedH7522. 6It shall be eatenH398 on the same dayH3117 you offerH2077 it, and on the nextH4283 dayH4283; but what remainsH3498 untilH5704 the thirdH7992 dayH3117 shall be burnedH8313 with fireH784. 7So ifH518 it is eatenH398 atH398 allH398 on the thirdH7992 dayH3117, it is uncleanH6292; it will not be acceptedH7521. 8And everyone who eatsH398 it will bearH5375 the consequences for his guiltH5771, becauseH3588 he has profanedH2490 the holyH6944 thingH6944 of the LordH3068; and that personH5315 shall be cutH3772 offH3772 from his peopleH5971.

Various Laws

‘7Now when you reapH7114 the harvestH7105 of your landH776, you shall not reapH7114 to the veryH3615 edgesH6285 of your fieldH7704, norH3808 shall you gatherH3950 the gleaningsH3951 of your harvestH7105. 10And you shall not gleanH5953 your vineyardH3754, norH3808 shall you gatherH3950 the fallenH6528 grapesH6528 of your vineyardH3754; you shall leaveH5800 them for the needyH6041 and for the strangerH1616. I am the LordH3068 your GodH430.

‘8You shall not stealH1589, norH3808 dealH8266 falselyH8266, 9norH3808 lieH8266 to oneH376 anotherH5997. 12And 10you shall not swearH7650 falselyH8267 by My nameH8034, so as to 11profaneH2455 the nameH8034 of your GodH430; I am the LordH3068.

‘12You shall not oppressH6231 your neighborH7453, norH3808 robH1497 him. 13The wagesH6468 of a hiredH7916 workerH7916 are not to remainH3885 with you allH3885 nightH3885 untilH5704 morningH1242. 14You shall not curseH7043 a personH2795 who is deafH2795, norH3808 14putH5414 a stumblingH4383 blockH4383 beforeH6440 a personH5787 who is blindH5787, but you shall revereH3372 your GodH430; I am the LordH3068.

‘15You shall not doH6213 injusticeH5766 in judgmentH4941; you shall not showH5375 partialityH5375H6440 to the poorH1800 norH3808 giveH1921 preferenceH1921H6440 to the greatH1419, but you are to judgeH8199 your neighborH5997 fairlyH6664. 16You shall not goH1980 aboutH1980 as 16a slandererH7400 among your peopleH5971; and you are not to 17jeopardizeH5975H5921 the 1819lifeH1818 of your neighborH7453. I am the LordH3068.

‘You 20shall not hateH8130 your fellowH251 countrymanH251 in your heartH3824; you 21may certainlyH3198 rebukeH3198 your neighborH5997, but you are not to incurH5375 sinH2399 becauseH5921 of him. 1822You shall not takeH5358 vengeanceH5358, 23norH3808 holdH5201 any grudgeH5201 againstH854 the sonsH1121 of your peopleH5971, but 24you shall loveH157 your neighborH7453 as yourself; I am the LordH3068.

‘You are to keepH8104 My statutesH2708. You shall not cross-breedH7250 twoH3610 kindsH3610 of your cattleH929; 25you shall not sowH2232 your fieldH7704 with twoH3610 kindsH3610 of seed, norH3808 wearH5927H5921 a garmentH899 of twoH3610 kindsH3610 of materialH8162 mixedH8162 togetherH8162.

‘26Now ifH3588 a manH376 hasH7901 sexualH2233 relationsH7902 with a womanH802 whoH1931 is a slaveH8198 acquiredH2778 for another manH376, but who has inH6299 noH3808 wayH6299 been redeemedH6299 norH3808 givenH5414 her freedomH2668, there shall be punishmentH1244; they shall not, however, be putH4191 toH4191 deathH4191, becauseH3588 she was not freeH2666. 21He shall bringH935 his guiltH817 offeringH817 to the LordH3068 to the doorwayH6607 of the tentH168 of meetingH4150, 27a ramH352 as a guiltH817 offeringH817. 22The priestH3548 shall also makeH3722 atonementH3722 for him with the ramH352 of the guiltH817 offeringH817 beforeH6440 the LordH3068 for his sinH2403 whichH834 he has committedH2398, and the sinH2403 whichH834 he has committedH2398 will be forgivenH5545 him.

‘Now whenH3588 you enterH935 the landH776 and plantH5193 allH3605 kinds of treesH6086 for foodH3978, then you shall countH6188 their fruitH6529 as 28forbiddenH6190. For threeH7969 yearsH8141 it shall be 29forbiddenH6189 to you; it shall not be eatenH398. 24And in the fourthH7243 yearH8141 allH3605 its fruitH6529 shall be holyH6944, an offering of praiseH1974 to the LordH3068. 25But in the fifthH2549 yearH8141 you shall eatH398 its fruitH6529, so that its yieldH8393 may increaseH3254 for you; I am the LordH3068 your GodH430.

‘You shall not eatH398 any meat 30with the bloodH1818. You shall not practiceH5172 31divinationH5172 nor soothsayingH6049. 2732You shall not roundH5362 offH5362 the 33hairlineH6285 of your headsH7218, norH3808 trimH7843 the edgesH6285 of your beardH2206. 28You shall not makeH5414 any cutsH8296 in your 34bodyH1320 for the 35deadH5315, norH3808 makeH5414 any tattooH3793H7085 marksH3793 on yourselves: I am the LordH3068.

‘36Do not profaneH2455 your daughterH1323 by makingH2181 her a prostituteH2181, so that the landH776 does not fallH2181 intoH2181 prostitutionH2181, and the landH776 does not becomeH4390 fullH4390 of outrageousH2154 sinH2154. 30You shall 37keepH8104 My SabbathsH7676 and 38revereH3372 My sanctuaryH4720; I am the LordH3068.

‘Do not turnH6437 to 3940mediumsH178 or spiritistsH3049; do not seekH1245 them outH1245 to be defiledH2930 by them. I am the LordH3068 your GodH430.

‘41You shall standH6965 upH6965 in the presenceH6440 of the grayheadedH7872 and honorH1921 42eldersH6440H2205, and you shall 43fearH3372 your GodH430; I am the LordH3068.

‘44WhenH3588 a strangerH1616 residesH1481 with you in your landH776, you shall not 45doH3238 him wrongH3238. 34The strangerH1616 who residesH1481 with you shall be to you as the nativeH249 amongH854 you, and 46you shall loveH157 him as yourself, for you were strangersH1616 in the landH776 of EgyptH4714; I am the LordH3068 your GodH430.

‘47You shall doH6213 noH3808 wrongH5766 in judgmentH4941, in measurementH4060 of weightH4948, or volumeH4884. 36You shall haveH1961 48accurateH6664 balancesH3976, accurateH6664 weightsH68, an accurateH6664 49ephahH374, and an accurateH6664 50hinH1969; I am the LordH3068 your GodH430, whoH834 broughtH3318 you outH3318 from the landH776 of EgyptH4714. 37So you shall keepH8104 allH3605 My statutesH2708 and allH3605 My ordinancesH4941, and doH6213 them; I am the LordH3068.’”
