Blood for Atonement

1Then the LordH3068 spokeH1696 to MosesH4872, sayingH559, 2“SpeakH1696 to AaronH175 and to his sonsH1121 and to allH3605 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, and sayH559 to them, ‘ThisH2088 is whatH1697H834 the LordH3068 has commandedH6680, sayingH559, 3“AnyoneH376 from the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 whoH834 slaughtersH7819 an oxH7794, a lambH3775, orH176 a goatH5795 in the campH4264, orH176 slaughtersH7819 it outsideH4480H2351 the campH4264, 4and 1has not broughtH935 it to the doorwayH6607 of the tentH168 of meetingH4150 to presentH7126 it as an offeringH7133 to the LordH3068 in frontH6440 of the 2tabernacleH4908 of the LordH3068, bloodshedH1818 is to be countedH2803 against that personH376. He has shedH8210 bloodH1818, and that personH376 shall be cutH3772 offH3772 from amongH7130 his peopleH5971. 5This shall be done soH4616 thatH4616 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 will bringH935 their sacrificesH2077 whichH834 they were sacrificingH2076 3in the openH6440 fieldH7704--so that they will bringH935 them to the LordH3068 at the doorwayH6607 of the tentH168 of meetingH4150 to the priestH3548, and sacrificeH2076 them as sacrificesH2077 of peaceH8002 offeringsH8002 to the LordH3068. 6The priestH3548 shall sprinkleH2236 the bloodH1818 on the altarH4196 of the LordH3068 at the doorwayH6607 of the tentH168 of meetingH4150, and 4offerH6999 upH6999 the fatH2459 inH6999 smokeH6999 as a soothingH5207 aromaH7381 to the LordH3068. 7And 5they shall noH3808 longerH5750 offerH2076 their sacrificesH2077 to the 6goatH8163 demonsH8163 with whichH834 they playH2181 theH2181 prostituteH2181. ThisH2088 shall be a permanentH5769 statuteH2708 to them throughout their generationsH1755.”’

8“Then you shall sayH559 to them, ‘AnyoneH376 from the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, or from the strangersH1616 whoH834 resideH1481 amongH8432 them, whoH834 offersH5927 a burntH5930 offeringH5930 orH176 sacrificeH2077, 9and 7does not bringH935 it to the doorwayH6607 of the tentH168 of meetingH4150 to 8offerH6213 it to the LordH3068, that personH376 also shall be cutH3772 offH3772 from his peopleH5971.

10‘9And anyoneH376 from the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, or from the strangersH1616 who resideH1481 amongH8432 them, whoH834 eatsH398 anyH3605 bloodH1818, 10I will setH5414 My faceH6440 against that personH5315 who eatsH398 the bloodH1818, and will cutH3772 him offH3772 from amongH7130 his peopleH5971. 11For 11the 12lifeH5315 of the fleshH1320 is in the bloodH1818, and I have givenH5414 it to you on the altarH4196 to makeH3722 atonementH3722 for your soulsH5315; for 13it is the bloodH1818 by reason of the 14lifeH5315 that makesH3722 atonementH3722.’ 12ThereforeH5921H3651 I saidH559 to the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, ‘NoH3605H3808 personH5315 amongH4480 you may eatH398 bloodH1818, norH3808 may any strangerH1616 who residesH1481 amongH8432 you eatH398 bloodH1818.’ 13So when anyoneH376 from the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, or from the strangersH1616 who resideH1481 amongH8432 them, 15while huntingH6718 catchesH6679 an animalH2421 orH176 a birdH5775 whichH834 may be eatenH398, 16he shall pourH8210 outH8210 its bloodH1818 and coverH3680 it with dirtH6083.

14“17For as for the 18lifeH5315 of allH3605 fleshH1320, its bloodH1818 is identified with its 19lifeH5315. Therefore I saidH559 to the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, ‘You are not to eatH398 the bloodH1818 of anyH3605 fleshH1320, for the 20lifeH5315 of allH3605 fleshH1320 is its bloodH1818; whoeverH3605 eatsH398 it shall be cutH3772 offH3772.’ 15And 21anyH3605 personH5315 whoH834 eatsH398 an animalH5038 whichH5038 diesH5038 or is tornH2966 by animals, whether he is a nativeH249 or a strangerH1616, shall washH3526 his clothesH899 and batheH7364 in waterH4325, and remainH2930 uncleanH2930 untilH5704 eveningH6153; then he will becomeH2891 cleanH2891. 16But ifH518 he does not washH3526 his clothes and batheH7364 his bodyH1320, then 22he shall bearH5375 the responsibility for his 23guiltH5771.”
