Job Speaks of the Finality of Death
1“1ManH120, who is bornH3205 of womanH802, Is 2short-livedH7116H3117 and 3fullH7649 of turmoilH7267.24Like a flowerH6731 he comesH3318 outH3318 and withersH4448. He also fleesH1272 like 5a shadowH6738 and does not remainH5975.3You alsoH637 6openH6491 Your eyesH5869 on him And 7bringH935 8him into judgmentH4941 with Yourself.49WhoH4310 can makeH5414 the cleanH2889 out of the uncleanH2931? NoH3808 oneH259!5SinceH518 his daysH3117 are determinedH2782, The 10numberH4557 of his monthsH2320 is with You; And You have 11setH6213 his limitsH2706 so that he cannotH3808 passH5674.612LookH8159 awayH8159 from him so that he may 13restH2308, UntilH5704 he 14fulfillsH7521 his dayH3117 like a hiredH7916 workerH7916.
7“For thereH3426 isH3426 hopeH8615 for a treeH6086, WhenH518 it is cutH3772 downH3772, that it will sproutH2498 againH5750, And its shootsH3127 will not 15failH2308.8ThoughH518 its rootsH8328 growH2204 oldH2204 in the groundH776, And its stumpH1503 diesH4191 in the dryH6083 soilH6083,9At the scentH7381 of waterH4325 it will flourishH6524 And produceH6213 sprigsH7105 likeH3644 a plantH5194.10But 16a manH1397 diesH4191 and liesH2522 prostrateH2522. A personH120 17passesH1478 awayH1478, and whereH335 is he?11As 18waterH4325 19evaporatesH235 from the seaH3220, And a riverH5104 becomesH2717 parchedH2717 and driedH3001 upH3001,12So 20a manH376 liesH7901 downH7901 and does not riseH6965. UntilH5704 the heavensH8064 noH1115 longerH1115 existH1115, 21He will not awakeH7019 norH3808 be wokenH5782 from 22his sleepH8142.
13“OhH4310H5414 thatH4310H5414 You would hideH6845 me in 23SheolH7585, That You would concealH5641 me 24untilH5704 Your wrathH639 returnsH7725 to You, That You would setH7896 a limitH2706 for me and rememberH2142 me!14IfH518 a manH1397 diesH4191, will he liveH2421 again? AllH3605 the daysH3117 of my struggleH6635 I will waitH3176 UntilH5704 my reliefH2487 comesH935.15You will callH7121, and I will answerH6030 You; You will longH3700 for 25the workH4639 of Your handsH3027.16For nowH6258 You 26numberH5608 my stepsH6806, You do not 27observeH8104 my sinH2403.17My wrongdoingH6588 is 28sealedH2856 upH2856 in a bagH6872, And You coverH2950 overH5921 my 29guiltH5771.
18“But the fallingH5307 mountainH2022 30crumblesH5034 awayH5034, And the rockH6697 movesH6275 from its placeH4725;19WaterH4325 wearsH7833 awayH7833 stonesH68, Its torrentsH5599 washH7857 awayH7857 the dustH6083 of the earthH776; So You 31destroyH6 a man’sH582 hopeH8615.20You foreverH5331 overpowerH8630 him and he 32departsH1980; You changeH8132 his appearanceH6440 and sendH7971 him awayH7971.21His sonsH1121 achieveH3513 honorH3513, but 33he does not knowH3045 it; Or they becomeH6819 insignificantH6819, and he does not perceiveH995 it.22HoweverH389, his 34bodyH1320 painsH3510 him, And his soulH5315 mournsH56 for himself.”
