Jeremiah 5:1-19
1“1RoamH7751 aboutH7751 through the streetsH2351 of JerusalemH3389, And lookH7200 and takeH3045 noticeH3045. And seekH1245 in her publicH7339 squaresH7339, IfH518 you can 2findH4672 a personH376, 3IfH518 thereH3426 isH3426 one who doesH6213 justiceH4941, who seeksH1245 honestyH530, Then I will forgiveH5545 4her.2And 5althoughH518 they sayH559, ‘As the LordH3068 livesH2416,’ CertainlyH3651 they swearH7650 falselyH8267.”3LordH3068, do 6Your eyesH5869 not look for honestyH530? You have 7struckH5221 them, But they did not 8weakenH2470; You have consumedH3615 them, But they 9refusedH3985 to acceptH3947 disciplineH4148. They have 10madeH2388 their facesH6440 harderH2388 thanH4480 rockH5553; They have refusedH3985 to repentH7725.
4Then I saidH559, “They are onlyH389 the poorH1800, They areH2973 foolishH2973; For they 11do not knowH3045 the wayH1870 of the LordH3068 Or the judgmentH4941 of their GodH430.5I will goH1980 to the greatH1419 And speakH1696 to them, For 12they knowH3045 the wayH1870 of the LordH3068 And the judgmentH4941 of their GodH430.” But togetherH3162 they too have 13brokenH7665 the yokeH5923 And burstH5423 the restraintsH4147.6ThereforeH5921H3651 14a lionH743 from the forestH3293 will killH5221 them, A 15wolfH2061 of the desertsH6160 will destroyH7703 them, A 16leopardH5246 is watchingH8245 their citiesH5892. EveryoneH3605 who goesH3318 outH3318 of them will be tornH2963 inH2963 piecesH2963, BecauseH3588 their 17wrongdoingsH6588 areH7231 manyH7231, Their apostasiesH4878 areH6105 numerousH6105.
7“WhyH335 should I forgiveH5545 you? Your sonsH1121 have forsakenH5800 Me And 18swornH7650 by those who are 19not godsH430. When I had fedH7646 them toH7646 theH7646 fullH7646, They 20committedH5003 adulteryH5003 And stayedH1481 at the prostitute’sH2181 houseH1004.8They were well-fedH2109 lustyH7904 horsesH5483, EachH376 oneH376 neighingH6670 atH413 his 21neighbor’sH7453 wifeH802.9Shall I not punishH6485 them for theseH428 things?” declaresH5002 the LordH3068, “And 22shall I not avengeH5358 MyselfH5315 On a nationH1471 suchH834 as thisH2088?
10“GoH5927 upH5927 through her vineH7795 rowsH7795 and destroyH7843, But do not executeH6213 a completeH3617 destructionH3617; StripH5493 awayH5493 her branchesH5189, For they are not the Lord’sH3068.11For the 23houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 and the houseH1004 of JudahH3063 Have dealtH898 veryH898 treacherouslyH898 with Me,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068.12They have 24liedH3584 about the LordH3068 And saidH559, “2526Not He; MisfortuneH7463 will 27not comeH935 upon us, 28Nor will we seeH7200 swordH2719 or famineH7458.13The 29prophetsH5030 are as windH7307, And the wordH1699 is not in them. SoH3541 it will be doneH6213 to them!”
14ThereforeH3651, thisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the LordH3068, the GodH430 of armiesH6635 saysH559: “BecauseH3282 you have spokenH1696 thisH2088 wordH1697, BeholdH2009, I am 30makingH5414 My wordsH1697 fireH784 in your mouthH6310, And thisH2088 peopleH5971 woodH6086, and it will consumeH398 them.15BeholdH2009, I am 31bringingH935 a nationH1471 againstH5921 you from farH4801 awayH4801, you houseH1004 of IsraelH3478,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068. “It is an enduringH386 nationH1471, It is an ancientH5769 nationH1471, A nationH1471 whose 32languageH3956 you do not knowH3045, NorH3808 can you understandH8085 whatH4100 they sayH1696.16Their 33quiverH827 is like an 34openH6605 graveH6913, AllH3605 of them are warriorsH1368.17They will 35devourH398 your harvestH7105 and your foodH3899; They will devourH398 your sonsH1121 and your daughtersH1323; They will devourH398 your flocksH6629 and your herdsH1241; They will devourH398 your 36vinesH1612 and your figH8384 treesH8384; They will demolishH7567 your 37fortifiedH4013 citiesH5892, in whichH834 you trustH982, with the swordH2719.
18“Yet evenH1571 in thoseH1992 daysH3117,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068, “I will not makeH6213 a completeH3617 destructionH3617 of you. 19And it shall comeH1961 aboutH1961 38whenH3588 39they sayH559, ‘WhyH8478H4100 has the LordH3068 our GodH430 doneH6213 allH3605 theseH428 thingsH428 to us?’ then you shall sayH559 to them, ‘JustH3512 asH3512 you have abandonedH5800 Me and servedH5647 foreignH5236 godsH430 in your landH776, soH3651 you will 40serveH5647 strangersH2114 in a landH776 that is not yours.’
