Solomon’s Rule Consolidated

1Now 1SolomonH8010 2formedH2859 aH2859 marriageH2859 allianceH2859 with PharaohH6547 kingH4428 of EgyptH4714, and tookH3947 Pharaoh’sH6547 daughterH1323 3and broughtH935 her to the cityH5892 of DavidH1732 4untilH5704 he had finishedH3615 buildingH1129 his own houseH1004 and the houseH1004 of the LordH3068, and 5the wallH2346 aroundH5439 JerusalemH3389. 26The peopleH5971 were stillH7534 sacrificingH2076 on the highH1116 placesH1116, becauseH3588 there was noH3808 houseH1004 builtH1129 for the nameH8034 of the LordH3068 untilH5704 thoseH1992 daysH3117.

3Now 7SolomonH8010 lovedH157 the LordH3068, 8walkingH1980 in the statutesH2708 of his fatherH1 DavidH1732, exceptH7534 that he was sacrificingH2076 and burningH6999 incenseH6999 on the highH1116 placesH1116. 4And 9the kingH4428 wentH1980 to 10GibeonH1391 to sacrificeH2076 thereH8033, 11becauseH3588 that was the greatH1419 highH1116 placeH1116; SolomonH8010 offeredH5927 a thousandH505 burntH5930 offeringsH5930 on that altarH4196. 512In GibeonH1391 the LordH3068 appearedH7200 to SolomonH8010 13in a dreamH2472 at nightH3915; and GodH430 saidH559, “14AskH7592 whatH4100 you wish Me to giveH5414 you.”

Solomon’s Prayer

6Then SolomonH8010 saidH559, “15You have shownH6213 greatH1419 faithfulnessH2617 to Your servantH5650 DavidH1732 my fatherH1, 16accordingH3512 asH3512 he walkedH1980 beforeH6440 You in 17truthH571, righteousnessH6666, and uprightnessH3483 of heartH3824 towardH5973 You; and 18You have 19reservedH8104 for him thisH2088 greatH1419 faithfulnessH2617, that You have givenH5414 him a sonH1121 to sitH3427 on his throneH3678, as it is thisH2088 dayH3117. 7And nowH6258, LordH3068 my GodH430, 20You have madeH4427 Your servantH5650 kingH4427 inH8478 placeH8478 ofH8478 my fatherH1 DavidH1732, yet 21I am like a littleH6996 boyH5288; 22I do not knowH3045 how to 23goH3318 outH3318 or comeH935 inH935. 8And 24Your servantH5650 is in the midstH8432 of Your peopleH5971 whomH834 You have chosenH977, 25a greatH7227 peopleH5971 whoH834 are tooH4480 manyH7230 to be numberedH4487 or countedH5608. 9So 26giveH5414 Your servantH5650 27an understandingH8085 heartH3820 to judgeH8199 Your peopleH5971, 28to discernH995 betweenH996 goodH2896 and evilH7451. For whoH4310 isH3201 capableH3201 of judgingH8199 thisH2088 29greatH3515 peopleH5971 of Yours?”

God’s Answer

10Now 30it was pleasingH3190 in the sightH5869 of the LordH136 that SolomonH8010 had askedH7592 thisH2088 thingH1697. 11And GodH430 saidH559 to him, “BecauseH3282H834 you have askedH7592 thisH2088 thingH1697, and have 31not askedH7592 for yourself 32a longH7227 lifeH3117, norH3808 have askedH7592 richesH6239 for yourself, norH3808 have you askedH7592 for the livesH5315 of your enemiesH340, but have askedH7592 for yourself discernmentH995 to understandH8085 justiceH4941, 12beholdH2009, 33I have doneH6213 according to your wordsH1697. BeholdH2009, 34I have givenH5414 you a wiseH2450 and discerningH995 heartH3820, soH834 thatH834 there has beenH1961 noH3808 one likeH3644 you beforeH6440 you, norH3808 shall one likeH3644 you ariseH6965 afterH310 you. 1335I have alsoH1571 givenH5414 you whatH834 you have not askedH7592, bothH1571 36richesH6239 and honorH3519, soH834 thatH834 there will not be anyH376 among the kingsH4428 likeH3644 you allH3605 your daysH3117. 14And 37ifH518 you walkH1980 in My waysH1870, keepingH8104 My statutesH2706 and commandmentsH4687, as your fatherH1 DavidH1732 walkedH1980, then I will 38prolongH748 your daysH3117.”

15Then 39SolomonH8010 awokeH3364, and beholdH2009, it was a dreamH2472. And he cameH935 to JerusalemH3389 and stoodH5975 beforeH6440 the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LordH136, and offeredH5927 burntH5930 offeringsH5930 and madeH6213 peaceH8002 offeringsH8002, and 40heldH6213 a feastH4960 for allH3605 his servantsH5650.

Solomon Wisely Judges

16ThenH227 twoH8147 womenH802 who were prostitutesH2181 cameH935 to the kingH4428 and stoodH5975 beforeH6440 him. 17The oneH259 womanH802 saidH559, “PardonH994 me, my lordH113: 41thisH2088 womanH802 and I liveH3427 in the sameH259 houseH1004; and I gaveH3205 birthH3205 toH3205 aH3205 childH3205 42whileH5973 she was in the houseH1004. 18And it happenedH1961 on the thirdH7992 dayH3117 after I gaveH3205 birthH3205, that thisH2088 womanH802 alsoH1571 gaveH3205 birthH3205 toH3205 aH3205 childH3205, and we were togetherH3164. ThereH369 wasH369 noH369 strangerH2114 with us in the houseH1004, onlyH2108 the twoH8147 of us in the houseH1004. 19Then thisH2088 woman’sH802 sonH1121 diedH4191 in the nightH3915, becauseH834 she layH7901 on him. 20So she gotH6965 upH6965 in the middleH8432 of the nightH3915 and tookH3947 my sonH1121 from besideH681 me while your servantH519 was asleepH3463, and she laidH7901 him at her breastH2436, and laidH7901 her deadH4191 sonH1121 at my breastH2436. 21When I gotH6965 upH6965 in the morningH1242 to nurseH3243 my sonH1121, beholdH2009, he was deadH4191! But when I examinedH995 him closelyH995 in the morningH1242, beholdH2009, he was not my sonH1121, whomH834 I had borneH3205!” 22Then the otherH312 womanH802 saidH559, “NoH3808! For the livingH2416 oneH2416 is my sonH1121, and the deadH4191 one is your sonH1121.” But 43the firstH2088 womanH2088 saidH559, “NoH3808! For the deadH4191 one is your sonH1121, and the livingH2416 oneH2416 is my sonH1121.” So they spokeH1696 beforeH6440 the kingH4428.

23Then the kingH4428 saidH559, “44The oneH2088 saysH559, ‘ThisH2088 is my sonH1121 who is livingH2416, and your sonH1121 is the deadH4191 one’; and 45the otherH2088 saysH559, ‘NoH3808! For your sonH1121 is the deadH4191 one, and my sonH1121 is the livingH2416 oneH2416.’” 24And the kingH4428 saidH559, “GetH3947 me a swordH2719.” So they broughtH935 a swordH2719 beforeH6440 the kingH4428. 25And the kingH4428 saidH559, “CutH1504 the livingH2416 childH3206 in twoH8147, and giveH5414 halfH2677 to the oneH259 and halfH2677 to the otherH259.” 26But the womanH802 whoseH834 childH1121 was the livingH2416 oneH2416 spokeH559 to the kingH4428, for 4647she was deeplyH7356 stirredH3648 overH5921 her sonH1121, and she saidH559, “PardonH994 me, my lordH113! GiveH5414 her the livingH2416 childH3205, and byH4191 noH408 meansH4191 killH4191 him!” But the otherH2088 woman was sayingH559, “He shall be neitherH1571H3808 mine norH3808 yours; cutH1504 him!” 27Then the kingH4428 repliedH6030H559, “GiveH5414 48the first woman the livingH2416 childH3205, and byH4191 noH3808 meansH4191 killH4191 him. She is his motherH517.” 28When allH3605 IsraelH3478 heardH8085 about the judgmentH4941 whichH834 the kingH4428 had 49handedH8199 downH8199, they fearedH3372 the kingH4428, becauseH3588 50they sawH7200 that the wisdomH2451 of GodH430 was in him to 51administerH6213 justiceH4941.
