1Then it cameH1961aboutH1961afterwardאַֽחֲרֵי־ כֵ֗ן'a.cha.rei- KhenH310H3651thatDavidדָּוִ֨דda.VidH1732inquiredוַיִּשְׁאַל֩vai.yish.'AlH7592of the Lordבַּֽיהוָ֤ה׀ba.Yah.wehH3068,sayingלֵאמֹר֙le.MorH559, “Shall I goהַאֶעֱלֶ֗הha.'e.'e.LehH5927upH5927to oneבְּאַחַת֙be.'a.ChatH259of the citiesעָרֵ֣י'a.ReiH5892of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063?”And the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֧אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Goעֲלֵ֑ה'a.LehH5927upH5927.”So Davidדָּוִ֛דda.VidH1732saidוַיֹּ֧אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whereאָ֥נָה'A.nahH575shall I goאֶעֱלֶ֖ה'e.'e.LehH5927upH5927?”And He saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “To Hebronחֶבְרֹֽנָה׃chev.Ro.nahH2275.”
2So Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732wentH5927upH5927thereשָׁם֙shamH8033, andhis twoשְׁתֵּ֣יshe.TeiH8147wivesנָשָׁ֑יוna.ShavH802alsoוְגַ֖םve.GamH1571,Ahinoamאֲחִינֹ֙עַם֙'a.chi.No.'amH293the JezreelitessH3159and Abigailוַאֲבִיגַ֕יִלva.'a.vi.Ga.yilH26thewidowאֵ֖שֶׁת'E.shetH802of Nabalנָבָ֥לna.ValH5037the Carmeliteהַֽכַּרְמְלִֽי׃Ha.kar.me.LiH3761.
4Then the menH376of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063cameוַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙vai.ya.Vo.'uH935,and thereשָׁ֧םshamH8033theyanointedוַיִּמְשְׁחוּ־vai.yim.she.chu-H4886Davidדָּוִ֛דda.VidH1732kingלְמֶ֖לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428overעַל־'al-H5921the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Judahיְהוּדָ֑הye.hu.DahH3063.And they toldוַיַּגִּ֤דוּvai.ya.Gi.duH5046Davidלְדָוִד֙le.da.VidH1732,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “It wasthe menH376of Jabesh-gileadיָבֵ֣ישׁ גִּלְעָ֔דya.Veish gil.'AdH3003H1568whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834buriedקָבְר֖וּka.ve.RuH6912Saulשָׁאֽוּל׃ סsha.'UlH7586.”
5So Davidדָּוִד֙da.VidH1732sentוַיִּשְׁלַ֤חvai.yish.LachH7971messengersמַלְאָכִ֔יםmal.'a.KhimH4397to the menH376of Jabesh-gileadיָבֵ֣ישׁ גִּלְעָ֑דya.Veish gil.'AdH3003H1568,and saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “May you be blessedבְּרֻכִ֤יםbe.ru.KhimH1288of the Lordלַֽיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068becauseאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834you haveshownעֲשִׂיתֶ֜ם'a.si.TemH6213thisהַזֶּ֗הha.ZehH2088kindnessהַחֶ֣סֶדha.Che.sedH2617to Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586your lordאֲדֹֽנֵיכֶם֙'a.do.nei.KhemH113,and have buriedוַֽתִּקְבְּר֖וּva.tik.be.RuH6912him.
6And nowוְעַתָּ֕הve.'a.TahH6258may the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068showיַֽעַשׂ־ya.'as-H6213kindnessחֶ֣סֶדChe.sedH2617and truthוֶאֱמֶ֑תve.'e.MetH571to you; and I alsoוְגַ֣םve.GamH1571willshowאֶעֱשֶׂ֤ה'e.'e.SehH6213thisH2088goodnessH2899to you, becauseאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834you have doneעֲשִׂיתֶ֖ם'a.si.TemH6213thisH2088thingהַדָּבָ֥רha.da.VarH1697.
7Nowוְעַתָּ֣ה׀ve.'a.TahH6258then, let your handsיְדֵיכֶ֗םye.dei.KhemH3027be strongתֶּחֱזַ֣קְנָהte.che.Zak.nahH2388and bevaliantלִבְנֵי־ חַ֔יִלliv.nei- Cha.yilH1121H2428,sinceכִּי־ki-H3588Saulשָׁא֑וּלsha.'UlH7586your lordאֲדֹנֵיכֶ֣ם'a.do.nei.KhemH113is deadמֵ֖תmetH4191,and alsoוְגַם־ve.gam-H1571the houseבֵית־veit-H1004of Judahיְהוּדָ֛הye.hu.DahH3063has anointedמָשְׁח֧וּma.she.ChuH4886me kingלְמֶ֖לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428overעֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ פ'a.lei.HemH5921them.”
