3But Amnonוּלְאַמְנ֣וֹןu.le.'am.NonH550had a friendרֵ֗עַRe.a'H7453whose nameוּשְׁמוֹ֙u.she.MoH8034was JonadabH3082,the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121ofShimeahשִׁמְעָ֖הshim.'AhH8093,David’sדָוִ֑דda.VidH1732brotherאֲחִ֣י'a.ChiH251;and JonadabH3082was a veryמְאֹֽד׃me.'OdH3966cleverחָכָ֖םcha.KhamH2450manאִ֥ישׁ'ishH376.

4And he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Whyמַדּ֣וּעַma.Du.a'H4069are you, the king’sהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428sonבֶּן־ben-H1121,soכָּ֣כָהKa.khahH3602depressedדַּ֤לdalH1800morningבַּבֹּ֣קֶרba.Bo.kerH1242after morningבַּבֹּ֔קֶרba.Bo.kerH1242?Will you not tellתַּגִּ֣ידta.GidH5046me?” So Amnonאַמְנ֔וֹן'am.NonH550saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “I am in loveאֹהֵֽב׃'o.HevH157with Tamarתָּמָ֗רta.MarH8559,the sisterאֲח֛וֹת'a.ChotH269of my brotherאָחִ֖י'a.ChiH251Absalomאַבְשָׁלֹ֥ם'av.sha.LomH53.”

5Jonadabיְה֣וֹנָדָ֔בye.Ho.na.DavH3082then saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Lieשְׁכַ֥בshe.KhavH7901downH7901on your bedמִשְׁכָּבְךָ֖mish.ka.ve.KhaH4904and pretendH2470toH2470beH2470illH2470;when your fatherאָבִ֣יךָ'a.Vi.khaH1comesוּבָ֧אu.Va'H935to seeלִרְאוֹתֶ֗ךָlir.'o.Te.khaH7200you, sayוְאָמַרְתָּ֣ve.'a.mar.TaH559to him, ‘Pleaseנָא֩na'H4994have my sisterאֲחוֹתִ֜י'a.cho.TiH269Tamarתָמָ֨רta.MarH8559comeתָּ֣בֹאTa.vo'H935and give me foodלֶ֗חֶםLe.chemH3899to eatוְתַבְרֵ֣נִיve.tav.Re.niH1262,and have her prepareוְעָשְׂתָ֤הve.'a.se.TahH6213thefoodהַבִּרְיָ֔הha.bir.YahH1279in my sightלְעֵינַי֙le.'ei.NaiH5869,soלְמַ֙עַן֙le.Ma.'anH4616thatH4616I may seeאֶרְאֶ֔ה'er.'EhH7200itand eatוְאָכַלְתִּ֖יve.'a.khal.TiH398from her handמִיָּדָֽהּ׃mi.ya.DahH3027.’”
