17It is trueאָמְנָ֖ם'a.me.NamH551, Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068;the kingsמַלְכֵ֥יmal.KheiH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֛וּר'a.ShurH804have laidH2717wasteH2717the nationsהַגּוֹיִ֖םha.go.YimH1471and their landsאַרְצָֽם׃'ar.TzamH776,

18and havehurledוְנָתְנ֥וּve.na.te.NuH5414their godsאֱלֹהֵיהֶ֖ם'e.lo.hei.HemH430into the fireבָּאֵ֑שׁba.'EshH784;for they were not godsאֱלֹהִ֜ים'E.lo.HimH430, but onlythe workמַעֲשֵׂ֧הma.'a.SehH4639of humanאָדָ֛ם'a.DamH120handsיְדֵֽי־ye.dei-H3027,woodעֵ֥ץ'etzH6086and stoneוָאֶ֖בֶןva.'E.venH68.So they have destroyedוַֽיְאַבְּדֽוּם׃Vay.'a.be.DumH6them.

19But nowוְעַתָּה֙ve.'a.TahH6258, Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068our Godאֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ'e.lo.Hei.nuH430,pleaseנָ֖אna'H4994,saveהוֹשִׁיעֵ֥נוּho.shi.'E.nuH3467us from his handמִיָּד֑וֹmi.ya.DoH3027,so that allכָּל־kol-H3605the kingdomsמַמְלְכ֣וֹתmam.le.KhotH4467of the earthהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776may knowוְיֵֽדְעוּ֙ve.ye.de.'UH3045that You aloneלְבַדֶּֽךָ׃ סle.va.De.khaH905,Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068,are Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430.”

20Then Isaiahיְשַֽׁעְיָ֣הוּye.sha'.Ya.huH3470the sonבֶן־ven-H1121of Amozאָמ֔וֹץ'a.MotzH531sentוַיִּשְׁלַח֙vai.yish.LachH7971wordto Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּ֖הוּchiz.ki.Ya.huH2396,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “ThisH3541isH3541whatH3541the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068,the Godאֱלֹהֵ֣י'e.lo.HeiH430of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478saysאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559: ‘Becauseאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834you have prayedהִתְפַּלַּ֧לְתָּhit.pa.Lal.taH6419to Me aboutH413Sennacheribסַנְחֵרִ֥בsan.che.RivH5576kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֖וּר'a.ShurH804,I have heardשָׁמָֽעְתִּי׃sha.Ma.'e.tiH8085you.’

21Thisזֶ֣הzehH2088is the wordהַדָּבָ֔רha.da.VarH1697that the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068has spokenדִּבֶּ֥רdi.BerH1696againstעָלָ֑יו'a.LavH5921him: ‘She,the virginבְּתוּלַת֙be.tu.LatH1330daughterבַּת־bat-H1323of Zionצִיּ֔וֹןtzi.YonH6726,has shownH959contemptH959for you andmockedלָעֲגָ֣הla.'a.GahH3932you;She, the daughterבַּ֖תbatH1323of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ye.ru.sha.LimH3389,has shakenהֵנִ֔יעָהhe.Ni.'ahH5128herheadרֹ֣אשׁroshH7218behindאַחֲרֶ֙יךָ֙'a.cha.Rei.khaH310you!

22Whomמִ֤יmiH4310have youtauntedחֵרַ֙פְתָּ֙che.Raf.taH2778andblasphemedוְגִדַּ֔פְתָּve.gi.Daf.taH1442?And againstוְעַל־ve.'al-H5921whomמִ֖יmiH4310have you raisedהֲרִימ֣וֹתָha.ri.Mo.taH7311yourvoiceקּ֑וֹלKolH6963, Andhaughtilyמָר֛וֹםma.RomH4791raisedוַתִּשָּׂ֥אva.ti.Sa'H5375your eyesעֵינֶ֖יךָ'ei.Nei.khaH5869?Againstעַל־'al-H5921theHolyקְד֥וֹשׁke.Do.oshH6918OneH6918of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478!

24I dugקַ֔רְתִּיKar.tiH6979wellsand drankוְשָׁתִ֖יתִיve.sha.Ti.tiH8354foreignזָרִ֑יםza.RimH2114watersמַ֣יִםMa.yimH4325,And with the solesבְּכַף־be.khaf-H3709of my feetפְּעָמַ֔יpe.'a.MaiH6471Idriedוְאַחְרִב֙ve.'ach.RivH2717upH2717Allכֹּ֖לkolH3605the streamsיְאֹרֵ֥יye.'o.ReiH2975of Egyptמָצֽוֹר׃ma.TzorH4693.”

25‘Have you not heardשָׁמַ֤עְתָּsha.Ma'.taH8085?LongH7350agoH7350I didעָשִׂ֔יתִי'a.Si.tiH6213it;From ancientH6924timesלְמִ֥ימֵיle.Mi.meiH3117 H6924I plannedוִֽיצַרְתִּ֑יהָvi.tzar.Ti.haH3335it.Nowעַתָּ֣ה'a.TahH6258I have broughtH935it aboutH935,That you would turnוּתְהִ֗י לַהְשׁ֛וֹתu.te.Hi lah.ShotH1961 H7582fortifiedבְּצֻרֽוֹת׃be.tzu.RotH1219citiesעָרִ֥ים'a.RimH5892into ruinedנִצִּ֖יםni.TzimH5327heapsגַּלִּ֥יםga.LimH1530.

26Therefore their inhabitantsוְיֹֽשְׁבֵיהֶן֙ve.yo.she.vei.HenH3427werepowerlessקִצְרֵי־ יָ֔דkitz.rei- YadH7116 H3027,They were shatteredחַ֖תּוּCha.tuH2865and putH954toH954shameH954. They were likethe vegetationעֵ֤שֶׂב'E.sevH6212of the fieldשָׂדֶה֙sa.DehH7704and the greenוִ֣ירַקVi.rakH3419grassדֶּ֔שֶׁאDe.she'H1877, Likegrassחֲצִ֣ירcha.TzirH2682on the housetopsגַּגּ֔וֹתga.goytH1406that is scorchedוּשְׁדֵפָ֖הu.she.de.FahH7711beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440it has grownקָמָֽה׃ka.MahH7054.

27ButI knowיָדָ֑עְתִּיya.Da.'e.tiH3045your sittingH3427downוְשִׁבְתְּךָ֛ve.shiv.te.KhaH3427,Your goingH3318outH3318,your comingH935inH935,And your ragingהִֽתְרַגֶּזְךָ֥hit.ra.gez.KhaH7264againstאֵלָֽי׃'e.LaiH413Me.

28Becauseיַ֚עַןYa.'anH3282of your ragingהִתְרַגֶּזְךָ֣hit.ra.gez.KhaH7264againstאֵלַ֔י'e.LaiH413Me,And because your complacencyוְשַׁאֲנַנְךָ֖ve.sha.'a.nan.KhaH7600has comeעָלָ֣ה'a.LahH5927upH5927to My earsבְאָזְנָ֑יve.'a.ze.NaiH241, Iwill putוְשַׂמְתִּ֨יve.sam.TiH7760My hookחַחִ֜יcha.ChiH2397in your noseבְּאַפֶּ֗ךָbe.'a.Pe.khaH639,And My bridleוּמִתְגִּי֙u.mit.GiH4964in your lipsבִּשְׂפָתֶ֔יךָbis.fa.Tei.khaH8193, AndI will turnH7725you backוַהֲשִׁ֣בֹתִ֔יךָva.ha.Shi.vo.Ti.khaH7725by the wayבַּדֶּ֖רֶךְba.De.rekhH1870by whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834you cameבָּ֥אתָBa.taH935.

29‘Then thisוְזֶה־ve.zeh-H2088shall bethe signהָא֔וֹתha.'otH226for you:you will eatאָכ֤וֹל'a.KholH398this yearהַשָּׁנָה֙ha.sha.NahH8141whatH5599growsH5599ofH5599itselfH5599,in the secondהַשֵּׁנִ֖יתha.she.NitH8145yearוּבַשָּׁנָ֥הu.va.sha.NahH8141whatH5501growsH5501byH5501itselfH5501,and in the thirdהַשְּׁלִישִׁ֗יתha.she.li.ShitH7992yearוּבַשָּׁנָ֣הu.va.sha.NahH8141sowזִרְע֧וּzir.'UH2232,harvestוְקִצְר֛וּve.kitz.RuH7114,plantוְנִטְע֥וּve.nit.'UH5193vineyardsכְרָמִ֖יםkhe.ra.MimH3754,and eatוְאִכְל֥וּve.'ikh.LuH398their fruitפִרְיָֽם׃fir.YamH6529.

30The survivorsפְּלֵיטַ֧תpe.lei.TatH6413that are leftהַנִּשְׁאָרָ֖הha.nish.'a.RahH7604of the houseבֵּית־beit-H1004of Judahיְהוּדָ֛הye.hu.DahH3063will againוְיָ֨סְפָ֜הve.Ya.se.FahH3254takerootשֹׁ֣רֶשׁSho.reshH8328downwardלְמָ֑טָּהle.Ma.tahH4295and bearוְעָשָׂ֥הve.'a.SahH6213fruitפְרִ֖יfe.RiH6529upwardלְמָֽעְלָה׃le.Ma.'e.lahH4605.

31For outH3318of Jerusalemמִירוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙mi.ru.sha.LimH3389will goתֵּצֵ֣אte.Tze'H3318a remnantשְׁאֵרִ֔יתshe.'e.RitH7611,and survivorsוּפְלֵיטָ֖הu.fe.lei.TahH6413out of Mountמֵהַ֣רme.HarH2022Zionצִיּ֑וֹןtzi.YonH6726.The zealקִנְאַ֛תkin.'AtH7068ofthe Lordיְהוָ֥ה צְבָא֖וֹתYah.wehYah.weh/ /tze.Va.'ottze.Va.'otH3068will performתַּֽעֲשֶׂה־ta.'a.seh-H6213thisH2088.

32‘Thereforeלָכֵ֗ןla.KhenH3651thisH3541isH3541whatH3541the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saysאָמַ֤ר'a.MarH559aboutH413the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֔וּר'a.ShurH804: “He will not comeיָבֹא֙ya.Vo'H935to thisH2088cityהָעִ֣ירha.'IrH5892norH3808shootיוֹרֶ֥הyo.RehH3384an arrowחֵ֑ץChetzH2671thereשָׁ֖םshamH8033;and he will not comeH6923beforeH6923it with a shieldמָגֵ֔ןma.GenH4043norH3808heapH8210upH8210an assaultH5550rampH5550againstעָלֶ֖יהָ'a.Lei.haH5921it.

33By the wayבַּדֶּ֥רֶךְba.De.rekhH1870that he cameיָבֹ֖אya.Vo'H935, bythe same he will returnיָשׁ֑וּבya.ShuvH7725,and he shall not comeיָבֹ֖אya.Vo'H935to thisH2088cityהָעִ֥ירha.'IrH5892,”’declaresנְאֻם־ne.'um-H5002the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.
