3Shalmaneserשַׁלְמַנְאֶ֖סֶרshal.man.'E.serH8022the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֑וּר'a.ShurH804marchedעָלָ֔ה'a.LahH5927againstעָלָ֣יו'a.LavH5921him, and Hosheaהוֹשֵׁ֙עַ֙ho.She.a'H1954becameוַֽיְהִי־vay.hi-H1961his servantעֶ֔בֶד'E.vedH5650and paidוַיָּ֥שֶׁבvai.Ya.shevH7725him tributeמִנְחָֽה׃min.ChahH4503.
4But the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֨וּר'a.ShurH804uncoveredוַיִּמְצָא֩vai.yim.Tza'H4672a conspiracyקֶ֗שֶׁרKe.sherH7195by Hosheaבְּהוֹשֵׁ֜עַbe.ho.She.a'H1954,whoאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834had sentשָׁלַ֤חsha.LachH7971messengersמַלְאָכִים֙mal.'a.KhimH4397to Soס֣וֹאSo'H5471,kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714, and had thenbroughtהֶעֱלָ֥הhe.'e.LahH5927noוְלֹא־ve.lo'-H3808tributeמִנְחָ֛הmin.ChahH4503to the kingלְמֶ֥לֶךְle.Me.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֖וּר'a.ShurH804, as he had doneyearכְּשָׁנָ֣הke.sha.NahH8141by yearבְשָׁנָ֑הve.sha.NahH8141;so the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֔וּר'a.ShurH804arrestedוַֽיַּעַצְרֵ֙הוּ֙vai.ya.'atz.Re.huH6113him and confinedוַיַּאַסְרֵ֖הוּvai.ya.'as.Re.huH631him in prisonבֵּ֥ית כֶּֽלֶא׃beit Ke.le'H1004H3608.
5Then the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֖וּר'a.ShurH804invadedH5927the entireבְּכָל־be.kholH3605landהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776,and wentH5927upH5927toSamariaשֹׁמְר֔וֹןsho.me.RonH8111and besiegedוַיָּ֥צַר עָלֶ֖יהָvai.Ya.tzar 'a.Lei.haH6696H5921it for threeשָׁלֹ֥שׁsha.LoshH7969yearsשָׁנִֽים׃sha.NimH8141.
6In the ninthהַתְּשִׁיעִ֜יתha.te.shi.'ItH8671yearבִּשְׁנַ֨תbish.NatH8141of Hosheaלְהוֹשֵׁ֗עַle.ho.She.a'H1954,the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Assyriaאַשּׁוּר֙'a.ShurH804capturedלָכַ֤דla.KhadH3920Samariaשֹׁ֣מְר֔וֹןsho.me.RonH8111andledH1540the people ofIsraelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478intoH1540exileוַיֶּ֥גֶלvai.Ye.gelH1540to Assyriaאַשּׁ֑וּרָה'a.Shu.rahH804, andsettledוַיֹּ֨שֶׁבvai.Yo.shevH3427them in Halahבַּחְלַ֧חbach.LachH2477and Haborוּבְחָב֛וֹרu.ve.cha.VorH2249, onthe riverנְהַ֥רne.HarH5104ofGozanגּוֹזָ֖ןgo.ZanH1470, andin the citiesוְעָרֵ֥יve.'a.ReiH5892of the Medesמָדָֽי׃ פma.DaiH4074.
7Now thiscameH1961aboutH1961becauseכִּֽי־ki-H3588the sonsבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478had sinnedחָטְא֤וּcha.te.'UH2398against the Lordלַיהוָ֣הla.Yah.wehH3068their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶ֔ם'e.lo.hei.HemH430,who had broughtH5927them upH5927from the landמֵאֶ֣רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714,from underמִתַּ֕חַתmi.Ta.chatH8478the handיַ֖דyadH3027of Pharaohפַּרְעֹ֣הpar.'OhH6547,kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Egyptמִצְרָ֑יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714; and they hadfearedוַיִּֽירְא֖וּvai.yi.re.'UH3372otherאֲחֵרִֽים׃'a.che.RimH312godsאֱלֹהִ֥ים'E.lo.HimH430.
8They alsofollowedוַיֵּֽלְכוּ֙vai.ye.le.KhuH1980thecustomsבְּחֻקּ֣וֹתbe.chu.KotH2708of the nationsהַגּוֹיִ֔םha.go.YimH1471whomאֲשֶׁר֙'a.SherH834the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068had drivenH3423outH3423from the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478, and in the customsof the kingsוּמַלְכֵ֥יu.mal.KheiH4428of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834they hadintroducedעָשֽׂוּ׃'a.SuH6213.
9And the sonsבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478didH2644thingsדְּבָרִים֙de.va.RimH1697secretlyH2644againstעַל־'al-H5921the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068their Godאֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם'e.lo.hei.HemH430whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834were not rightH3653.Moreover, they builtוַיִּבְנ֨וּvai.yiv.NuH1129for themselves highבָּמוֹת֙ba.mOtH1116placesH1116in allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605their townsעָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם'a.rei.HemH5892, fromwatchtowerמִמִּגְדַּ֥לmi.mig.DalH4026to fortifiedמִבְצָֽר׃miv.TzarH4013cityעִ֥יר'irH5892.
