14But they tookH3320their standוַיִּֽתְיַצְּב֤וּvai.yit.ya.tze.VuH3320in the midstבְתוֹךְ־ve.tokh-H8432of the plotהַחֶלְקָה֙ha.chel.KahH2513and defendedוַיַּצִּיל֔וּהָvai.ya.tzi.Lu.haH5337it, and defeatedוַיַּכּ֖וּvai.ya.KuH5221the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֑יםpe.lish.TimH6430;and the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068savedוַיּ֥וֹשַׁעvai.Yo.o.sha'H3467them with a greatגְדוֹלָֽה׃ge.do.LahH1419victoryתְּשׁוּעָ֥הte.shu.'AhH8668.

15Now threeשְֽׁלוֹשָׁה֩she.lo.ShahH7969of the thirtyהַשְּׁלוֹשִׁ֨יםha.she.lo.ShimH7970chiefרֹ֤אשׁroshH7218menH7218wentH3381downוַיֵּרְד֡וּvai.ye.re.DuH3381to the rockהַצֻּר֙ha.TzurH6697to Davidדָּוִ֔ידda.VidH1732,into the caveמְעָרַ֖תme.'a.RatH4631of Adullamעֲדֻלָּ֑ם'a.du.LamH5725, whilethe armyוּמַחֲנֵ֣הu.ma.cha.NehH4264of the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֔יםfe.lish.TimH6430was campingחֹנָ֖הcho.NahH2583in the Valleyבְּעֵ֥מֶקbe.'E.mekH6010of Rephaimרְפָאִֽים׃re.fa.'ImH7497.

16Davidוְדָוִ֖ידve.da.VidH1732was thenאָ֣ז'azH227in the strongholdבַּמְּצוּדָ֑הba.me.tzu.DahH4686, whilethe garrisonוּנְצִ֣יבu.ne.TzivH5333of the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּ֔יםpe.lish.TimH6430wasthenאָ֖ז'azH227in BethlehemH1035.

17And Davidדָּוִ֖ידda.VidH1732hadH183a cravingוַיִּתְאָ֥יוvai.yit.'avH183and saidוַיֹּאמַ֑רvai.yo.MarH559, “OhH4310that someoneH4310would giveיַשְׁקֵ֣נִיyash.Ke.niH8248me waterמַ֔יִםMa.yimH4325toH8248drinkH8248from the wellמִבּ֥וֹרmi.BorH953of BethlehemH1035,whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834is by the gateבַּשָּֽׁעַר׃ba.Sha.'arH8179!”

18So the threeהַשְּׁלֹשָׁ֜הha.she.lo.ShahH7969brokeH1234throughH1234the campבְּמַחֲנֵ֣הbe.ma.cha.NehH4264of the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֗יםfe.lish.TimH6430and drewוַיִּֽשְׁאֲבוּ־vai.yish.'a.vu-H7579waterמַ֙יִם֙ma.yimH4325from the wellמִבּ֤וֹרmi.BorH953of BethlehemH1035whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834wasby the gateבַּשַּׁ֔עַרba.Sha.'arH8179,and tookוַיִּשְׂא֖וּvai.yis.'UH5375itand broughtוַיָּבִ֣אוּvai.ya.Vi.'uH935itto Davidדָּוִ֑ידda.VidH1732;however, Davidדָוִיד֙da.VidH1732wouldאָבָ֤ה'a.VahH14not drinkלִשְׁתּוֹתָ֔םlish.to.TamH8354it, but pouredוַיְנַסֵּ֥ךְvay.na.SekhH5258it outH5258to the Lordלַיהוָֽה׃la.Yah.wehH3068;

19and he saidוַיֹּ֡אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Farחָלִילָה֩cha.li.LahH2486be it from me beforeH4480my Godמֵאֱלֹהַ֜יme.'e.lo.HaiH430that I would doמֵעֲשׂ֣וֹתme.'a.SotH6213thisH2088.Shall I drinkאֶשְׁתֶּ֤ה'esh.TehH8354the bloodהֲדַ֣םha.DamH1818of theseH428menH376who wentat the risk of their livesבְנַפְשׁוֹתָם֙ve.naf.sho.TamH5315?For they broughtהֱבִיא֔וּםhe.vi.'UmH935it at the risk of their livesבְנַפְשׁוֹתָ֣םve.naf.sho.TamH5315.”Therefore he wouldאָבָ֖ה'a.VahH14not drinkלִשְׁתּוֹתָ֑םlish.to.TamH8354it. 21Of the threeהַשְּׁלוֹשָׁ֤הha.she.lo.ShahH7969in the secondבַשְּׁנַ֙יִם֙va.she.Na.yimH8147rankhe was the mostמִן־min-H4480honoredנִכְבָּ֔דnikh.BadH3513,and he becameוַיְהִ֥יvay.HiH1961their commanderלְשָׂ֑רle.SarH8269;however, he did not attainבָֽא׃ סVa'H935the reputation of the firstthreeהַשְּׁלוֹשָׁ֖הha.she.lo.ShahH7969.

Now in the Egyptian’sהַמִּצְרִ֤יha.mitz.RiH4713handוּבְיַ֨דu.ve.YadH3027wasa spearחֲנִית֙cha.NitH2595like a weaver’sאֹרְגִ֔ים'o.re.GimH707beamכִּמְנ֣וֹרkim.NorH4500,but he wentH3381downוַיֵּ֥רֶדvai.Ye.redH3381to him with a clubבַּשָּׁ֑בֶטba.Sha.vetH7626and snatchedוַיִּגְזֹ֤לvai.yig.ZolH1497the spearהַחֲנִית֙ha.cha.NitH2595from the Egyptian’sהַמִּצְרִ֔יha.mitz.RiH4713handמִיַּ֣דmi.YadH3027and killedוַיַּהַרְגֵ֖הוּvai.ya.har.Ge.huH2026him with his own spearבַּחֲנִיתֽוֹ׃ba.cha.ni.ToH2595.
