Context of Proverbs 13:20
18Poverty and shame will come to one who neglects discipline, But one who complies with rebuke will be honored. 19Desire realized is sweet to the soul, But it is an abomination to fools to turn away from evil. One who walks with wise people will be wise, But a companion of fools will suffer harm. 21Adversity pursues sinners, But the righteous will be rewarded with prosperity. 22A good person leaves an inheritance to his grandchildren, And the wealth of a sinner is stored up for the righteous.

- Adam Clarke Bible Commentary · v. 20He that walketh with wise men shall be wise - To walk with a person implies love and attachment; and it is impossible not to imitate those we love. So we say, "Show me his company, and I'll tell you the man." Let me know the company he keeps, and I shall easily guess his moral character.Read the comment
