Proverbs 3
The Rewards of Wisdom
1My son, 1do not forget my 2teaching, But have your heart 3comply with my commandments;2For 4length of days and years of life And peace they will add to you.3Do not let 5kindness and truth leave you; 6Bind them around your neck, 7Write them on the tablet of your heart.4So you will 8find favor and a 9good 10reputation In the sight of God and man.511Trust in the Lord with all your heart And 12do not lean on your own understanding.6In all your ways 13acknowledge Him, And He will 14make your paths straight.715Do not be wise in your own eyes; 16Fear the Lord and turn away from evil.8It will be 17healing to your 18body And 19refreshment to your bones.920Honor the Lord from your wealth, And from the 21first of all your produce;10Then your 22barns will be filled with plenty, And your 23vats will overflow with new wine.1124My son, do not reject the 25discipline of the Lord Or loathe His rebuke,12For 26whom the Lord loves He disciplines, Just 27as a father disciplines the son in whom he delights.
1328Blessed is a person who finds wisdom, And one who obtains understanding.14For 29her 30profit is better than the profit of silver, And her produce better than gold.15She is 31more precious than 32jewels, And nothing you desire compares with her.163334Long life is in her right hand; In her left hand are 35riches and honor.17Her 36ways are pleasant ways, And all her paths are 37peace.18She is a 38tree of life to those who take hold of her, And happy are those who hold on to her.19The Lord founded the earth 39by wisdom, He 40established the heavens by understanding.20By His knowledge the 41ocean depths were burst open, And the 42clouds drip with dew.21My son, see that 43they do not escape from your sight; Comply with sound wisdom and discretion,22And they will be 44life to your soul And 45adornment to your neck.23Then you will 46walk in your way securely, And your foot will not 47stumble.24When you 48lie down, you will not be afraid; When you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.2549Do not be afraid of sudden danger, Nor of 50trouble from the wicked when it comes;26For the Lord will be 51your confidence, And will 52keep your foot from being caught.
2753Do not withhold good from 54those to whom it is due, When it is in your power to do it.2855Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come back, And tomorrow I will give it to you,” When you have it with you.2956Do not devise harm against your neighbor, While he lives securely beside you.3057Do not contend with a person for no reason, If he has done you no harm.3158Do not envy a violent person, And do not choose any of his ways.32For the 59devious are an abomination to the Lord; But 60He is 61intimate with the upright.33The 62curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked, But He 63blesses the home of the righteous.34Though 64He scoffs at the scoffers, Yet 65He gives grace to the needy.3566The wise will inherit honor, But fools 67increase dishonor.
