Numbers 20:7-29

7and the LordH3068 spokeH1696 to MosesH4872, sayingH559, 8“TakeH3947 1the rodH4294; and you and your brotherH251 AaronH175 assembleH6950 the congregationH5712 and speakH1696 to the rockH5553 before their eyesH5869, that it may yieldH5414 its waterH4325. You shall thus bringH3318 forthH3318 waterH4325 for them out of the rockH5553 and let the congregationH5712 and their beastsH1165 drinkH8248.”

9So MosesH4872 tookH3947 the rodH4294 2from beforeH4480H6440 the LordH3068, justH3512 as He had commandedH6680 him; 10and MosesH4872 and AaronH175 gatheredH6950 the assemblyH6951 beforeH413H6440 the rockH5553. And he saidH559 to them, “3ListenH8085 nowH4994, you rebelsH4784; shall we bringH3318 forthH3318 waterH4325 for you out of thisH2088 rockH5553?” 11Then MosesH4872 liftedH7311 up his handH3027 and struckH5221 the rockH5553 twiceH6471 with his rodH4294; and 4waterH4325 cameH3318 forthH3318 abundantlyH7227, and the congregationH5712 and their beastsH1165 drankH8354. 12But the LordH3068 saidH559 to MosesH4872 and AaronH175, “5BecauseH3282 you have not believedH539 Me, to treatH6942 Me as holyH6942 in the sightH5869 of the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, thereforeH3651 you shall not bringH935 thisH2088 assemblyH6951 into the landH776 whichH834 I have givenH5414 them.” 13ThoseH1992 were the watersH4325 of 67MeribahH4809, 8becauseH834 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 contendedH7378 with the LordH3068, and He provedH6942 Himself holyH6942 among them.

14From KadeshH6946 MosesH4872 then sentH7971 messengersH4397 to 9the kingH4428 of EdomH112: “ThusH3541 your brotherH251 IsraelH3478 has saidH559, ‘You 10knowH3045 allH3605 the hardshipH8513 that has befallenH4672 us; 15that our fathersH1 wentH3381 downH3381 to EgyptH4714, and we stayedH3427 in EgyptH4714 a longH7227 timeH3117, and the EgyptiansH4714 treatedH7489 us and our fathersH1 badlyH7489. 16But 11when we criedH6817 out to the LordH3068, He heardH8085 our voiceH6963 and sentH7971 12an angelH4397 and broughtH3318 us out from EgyptH4714; now beholdH2009, we are at KadeshH6946, a townH5892 on the edgeH7097 of your territoryH1366. 17PleaseH4994 13let us passH5674 through your landH776. We will not passH5674 throughH5674 fieldH7704 or through vineyardH3754; we will not even drinkH8354 waterH4325 from a wellH875. We will goH1980 along the king’sH4428 highwayH1870, not turningH5186 to the rightH3225 or leftH8040, untilH5704H834 we passH5674 throughH5674 your territoryH1366.’”

1814EdomH112, however, saidH559 to him, “You shall not passH5674 throughH5674 15us, orH6435 I will comeH3318 out with the swordH2719 againstH7122 you.” 19Again, the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 saidH559 to him, “We will goH5927 up by the highwayH4546, and ifH518 I and 16my livestockH4735 do drinkH8354 any of your waterH4325, 17then I will 18payH5414 its priceH4377. Let me onlyH7534 passH5674 throughH5674 on my feetH7272, 19nothingH369H1697 else.” 20But he saidH559, “20You shall not passH5674 throughH5674.” And EdomH112 cameH3318 out againstH7122 him with a heavyH3515 21forceH5971 and with a strongH2389 handH3027. 2122Thus EdomH112 refusedH3985 to allowH5414 IsraelH3478 to passH5674 throughH5674 his territoryH1366; 23so IsraelH3478 turnedH5186 awayH5186 from him.

22Now when they setH5265 out from 24KadeshH6946, the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, the wholeH3605 congregationH5712, cameH935 to MountH2022 HorH2023. 23Then the LordH3068 spokeH559 to MosesH4872 and AaronH175 at 25MountH2022 HorH2023 by the borderH1366 of the landH776 of EdomH112, sayingH559, 24“AaronH175 will be 26gatheredH622 to his peopleH5971; for he shall not enterH935 the landH776 whichH834 I have givenH5414 to the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, becauseH5921H834 27you rebelledH4784 againstH854 My 28commandH6310 at the watersH4325 of MeribahH4809. 25TakeH3947 AaronH175 and his sonH1121 29EleazarH499 and bringH5927 them up to MountH2022 HorH2023; 26and stripH6584 AaronH175 of his garmentsH899 and putH3847 them on his sonH1121 EleazarH499. So AaronH175 will be 30gatheredH622 to his people, and will dieH4191 thereH8033.” 27So MosesH4872 didH6213 justH3512 as the LordH3068 had commandedH6680, and they wentH5927 up to MountH2022 HorH2023 in the sightH5869 of allH3605 the congregationH5712. 28After MosesH4872 had strippedH6584 AaronH175 of his garmentsH899 and 31putH3847 them on his sonH1121 EleazarH499, 32AaronH175 diedH4191 thereH8033 on the mountainH2022 topH7218. Then MosesH4872 and EleazarH499 cameH3381 downH3381 from the mountainH2022. 29When allH3605 the congregationH5712 sawH7200 that AaronH175 had diedH1478, allH3605 the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 weptH1058 for AaronH175 thirtyH7970 33daysH3117.
