Jeremiah 8:4-13
4“You shall sayH559 to them, ‘ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, “Do men 1fallH5307 and not getH6965 up again? Does one turnH7725 awayH7725 and not 2repentH7725?5WhyH4069 then has thisH2088 peopleH5971, JerusalemH3389, 3TurnedH7725 awayH7725 in continualH5329 apostasyH4878? They 4holdH2388 fastH2388 to deceitH8649, They 5refuseH3985 to returnH7725.6I 6have listenedH7181 and heardH8085, They have spokenH1696 whatH3653 is not rightH3653; 7NoH369 manH376 repentedH5162 of his wickednessH7463, SayingH559, ‘WhatH4100 have I doneH6213?’ EveryoneH3605 turnedH7725 to his courseH4794, Like a 8horseH5483 chargingH7857 into the battleH4421.7EvenH1571 the storkH2624 in the skyH8064 9KnowsH3045 her seasonsH4150; And the 10turtledoveH8449 and the swiftH5483 and the thrushH5693 ObserveH8104 the timeH6256 of their 11migrationH935; But 12My peopleH5971 do not knowH3045 The ordinanceH4941 of the LordH3068.
8“13HowH351 can you sayH559, ‘We are wiseH2450, And the lawH8451 of the LordH3068 is with us’? But beholdH2009, the lyingH8267 penH5842 of the scribesH5613 Has madeH6213 it into a lieH8267.9The wiseH2450 menH2450 are 14putH954 to shameH954, They are dismayedH2865 and caughtH3920; BeholdH2009, they have 15rejectedH3988 the wordH1697 of the LordH3068, And whatH4100 kind of wisdomH2451 do they have?10ThereforeH3651 I will 16giveH5414 their wivesH802 to othersH312, Their fieldsH7704 to 17newH3423 ownersH3423; BecauseH3588 from the leastH6996 even to the greatestH1419 EveryoneH3605 is 18greedyH1214 for gainH1215; From the prophetH5030 even to the priestH3548 EveryoneH3605 practicesH6213 deceitH8267.11They 19healH7495 the brokennessH7667 of the daughterH1323 of My peopleH5971 superficiallyH7043, SayingH559, ‘PeaceH7965, peaceH7965,’ But thereH369 is noH369 peaceH7965.12Were they 20ashamedH954 becauseH3588 of the abominationH8441 they had doneH6213? They certainlyH1571 were not ashamedH954, And they did not knowH3045 how to blushH3637; ThereforeH3651 they shall 21fallH5307 among those who fallH5307; At the 22timeH6256 of their punishmentH6486 they shall be broughtH3782 downH3782,” SaysH559 the LordH3068.
13“I will 23surelyH5486 snatchH5486 them awayH5486,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068; “ThereH369 will be 24noH369 grapesH6025 on the vineH1612 And 25noH369 figsH8384 on the figH8384 treeH8384, And the leafH5929 will witherH5034; And what I have givenH5414 them will passH5674 awayH5674.”’”
