Ezekiel 33:17-33

17“Yet 1your fellowH1121H5971 citizensH5971 sayH559, ‘The wayH1870 of the LordH136 is not rightH8505,’ when it is their own wayH1870 that is not rightH8505. 18When the righteousH6662 turnsH7725 from his righteousnessH6666 and 2commitsH6213 iniquityH5766, then he shall dieH4191 in 3it. 19But when the wickedH7563 turnsH7725 from his wickednessH7564 and practicesH6213 justiceH4941 and righteousnessH6666, he will liveH2421 by them. 20Yet you sayH559, ‘4The wayH1870 of the LordH136 is not rightH8505.’ O houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, I will judgeH8199 eachH376 of you according to his waysH1870.”

21Now 5in the 6twelfthH8147H6240 yearH8141 of our exileH1546, on the fifthH2568 of the tenthH6224 monthH2320, the 7refugeesH6412 from JerusalemH3389 cameH935 to me, sayingH559, “8The cityH5892 has been 9takenH5221.” 22Now the 10handH3027 of the LordH3068 had beenH1961 upon me in the eveningH6153, beforeH6440 the 11refugeesH6412 cameH935. And He 12openedH6605 my mouthH6310 13at the timeH5704 they cameH935 to me in the morningH1242; so my mouthH6310 was 14openedH6605 and I was noH3808 longerH5750 15speechlessH481.

23Then the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to me sayingH559, 24“SonH1121 of manH120, they who 16liveH3427 in theseH428 wasteH2723 placesH2723 in the landH127 of IsraelH3478 are sayingH559, ‘17AbrahamH85 was only oneH259, yet he possessedH3423 the landH776; so to 18us whoH7227 are manyH7227 the landH776 has been givenH5414 as a possessionH4181.’ 25ThereforeH3651 sayH559 to them, ‘ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH136 GodH3068, “You eatH398 meat with the 19bloodH1818 in it, liftH5375 up your eyesH5869 to your idolsH1544 as you shedH8210 bloodH1818. 20Should you then possessH3423 the landH776? 26You 2122relyH5975 on your swordH2719, you commitH6213 abominationsH8441 and eachH376 of you defilesH2930 his neighbor’sH7453 wifeH802. Should you then possessH3423 the landH776?”’ 27ThusH3541 you shall sayH559 to them, ‘ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH136 GodH3068, “As I liveH2416, surelyH518H3808 those whoH834 are in the wasteH2723 placesH2723 will 23fallH5307 by the swordH2719, and whoeverH834 is in the 24openH6440 fieldH7704 I will giveH5414 to the beastsH2421 to be devouredH398, and those whoH834 are in the strongholdsH4679 and in the 25cavesH4631 will dieH4191 of pestilenceH1698. 28I will 26makeH5414 the landH776 a desolationH8077 and a wasteH4923, and the 27prideH1347 of her powerH5797 will ceaseH7673; and the mountainsH2022 of IsraelH3478 will be desolateH8074 soH4480 that noH369 oneH369 will passH5674 throughH5674. 29Then they will knowH3045 that I am the LordH3068, when I makeH5414 the landH776 a desolationH8077 and a wasteH4923 becauseH5921 of allH3605 their abominationsH8441 whichH834 they have committedH6213.”’

30“But as for you, sonH1121 of manH120, 28your fellowH1121H5971 citizensH5971 who talkH1696 about you by the wallsH7023 and in the doorwaysH6607 of the housesH1004, speakH1696 to oneH2297 anotherH259, eachH376 to his brotherH251, sayingH559, ‘29ComeH935 nowH4994 and hearH8085 whatH4100 the 30messageH1697 is which comesH3318 forthH3318 from the LordH3068.’ 31They comeH935 to you as peopleH5971 comeH3996, and sitH3427 beforeH6440 you as My peopleH5971 and hearH8085 your wordsH1697, but they do not doH6213 them, for they doH6213 the lustfulH5690 desiresH5690 expressed by their 31mouthH6310, and their heartH3820 goesH1980 afterH310 their 32gainH1215. 32BeholdH2009, you are to them like a sensualH5690 songH7892 by one who has a 33beautifulH3303 voiceH6963 and playsH5059 wellH3190 on an instrument; for they hearH8085 your wordsH1697 but they do not practiceH6213 them. 33So when it 34comesH935 to passH935--35as surelyH2009 it will--then they will knowH3045 that a prophetH5030 has beenH1961 in their midstH8432.”
