2 Samuel 9
David’s Kindness to Mephibosheth
1Then DavidH1732 saidH559, “Is thereH3426 yetH5750 1anyoneH834 leftH3498 of the houseH1004 of SaulH7586, 2that I may showH6213 him kindnessH2617 for Jonathan’sH3083 sakeH5668?” 2Now there was a servantH5650 of the houseH1004 of SaulH7586 whose nameH8034 was ZibaH6717, and they calledH7121 him to DavidH1732; and the kingH4428 saidH559 to him, “Are you 3ZibaH6717?” And he saidH559, “I am your servantH5650.” 3The kingH4428 saidH559, “Is thereH657 not yetH5750 anyoneH376 of the houseH1004 of SaulH7586 to whom I may showH6213 the 4kindnessH2617 of GodH430?” And ZibaH6717 saidH559 to the kingH4428, “5There is stillH5750 a sonH1121 of JonathanH3083 who is crippledH5223 in both feetH7272.” 4So the kingH4428 saidH559 to him, “WhereH375 is he?” And ZibaH6717 saidH559 to the kingH4428, “BeholdH2009, he is 6in the houseH1004 of MachirH4353 the sonH1121 of AmmielH5988 in Lo-debarH3810.” 5Then KingH4428 DavidH1732 sentH7971 and broughtH3947 him from the houseH1004 of MachirH4353 the sonH1121 of AmmielH5988, from Lo-debarH3810. 67MephiboshethH4648, the sonH1121 of JonathanH3083 the sonH1121 of SaulH7586, cameH935 to DavidH1732 and 8fellH5307 on his faceH6440 and prostratedH7812 himself. And DavidH1732 saidH559, “MephiboshethH4648.” And he saidH559, “HereH2009 is your servantH5650!” 7DavidH1732 saidH559 to him, “Do not fearH3372, for 9I will surelyH6213 showH6213 kindnessH2617 to you for the sakeH5668 of your fatherH1 JonathanH3083, and 10will restoreH7725 to you allH3605 the 11landH7704 of your 12grandfatherH1 SaulH7586; and 13you shall 14eatH398 at my tableH7979 regularlyH8548.” 8Again he prostratedH7812 himself and saidH559, “WhatH4100 is your servantH5650, that you should regardH6437 15a deadH4191 dogH3611 likeH3644 me?”
9Then the kingH4428 calledH7121 Saul’sH7586 servantH5288 ZibaH6717 and saidH559 to him, “16AllH3605 that belongedH1961 to SaulH7586 and to allH3605 his houseH1004 I have givenH5414 to your master’sH113 17grandsonH1121. 10You and your sonsH1121 and your servantsH5650 shall cultivateH5647 the landH127 for him, and you shall bringH935 in the produce so that your master’sH113 grandsonH1121 may haveH1961 foodH3899; nevertheless 18MephiboshethH4648 your master’sH113 grandsonH1121 19shall 20eatH398 at my tableH7979 regularlyH8548.” Now ZibaH6717 had fifteenH2568H6240 sonsH1121 and twentyH6242 servantsH5650. 11Then ZibaH6717 saidH559 to the kingH4428, “According 21to allH3605 that my lordH113 the kingH4428 commandsH6680 his servantH5650 soH3651 your servantH5650 will doH6213.” So MephiboshethH4648 ateH398 at 22David’s tableH7979 as oneH259 of the king’sH4428 sonsH1121. 12MephiboshethH4648 had a youngH6996 sonH1121 whose nameH8034 was MicaH4316. And allH3605 who livedH4186 in the houseH1004 of ZibaH6717 were servantsH5650 to MephiboshethH4648. 13So MephiboshethH4648 livedH3427 in JerusalemH3389, for 23he ateH398 at the king’sH4428 tableH7979 regularlyH8548. Now 24he was lameH6455 in bothH8147 feetH7272.
