1 Kings 1:15-31
15So BathshebaH1339 wentH935 in to the kingH4428 in the bedroomH2315. Now 1the kingH4428 was veryH3966 oldH2204, and AbishagH49 the ShunammiteH7767 was ministeringH8334 to the kingH4428. 16Then BathshebaH1339 bowedH6915 and prostratedH7812 herself 2before the kingH4428. And the kingH4428 saidH559, “WhatH4100 3do you wish?” 17She saidH559 to him, “My lordH113, you sworeH7650 to your maidservantH519 by the LordH3068 your GodH430, saying, ‘4SurelyH3588 your sonH1121 SolomonH8010 shall be kingH4427 afterH310 me and he shall sitH3427 on my throneH3678.’ 18NowH6258, beholdH2009, AdonijahH138 is kingH4427; and nowH6258, my lordH113 the kingH4428, you do not knowH3045 it. 195He has sacrificedH2076 oxenH7794 and fatlingsH4806 and sheepH6629 in abundanceH7230, and has invitedH7121 allH3605 the sonsH1121 of the kingH4428 and AbiatharH54 the priestH3548 and JoabH3097 the commanderH8269 of the armyH6635, but he has not invitedH7121 SolomonH8010 your servantH5650. 20As for you now, my lordH113 the kingH4428, the eyesH5869 of allH3605 IsraelH3478 are on you, to tellH5046 them whoH4310 shall sitH3427 on the throneH3678 of my lordH113 the kingH4428 afterH310 him. 21Otherwise it will comeH1961 about, 6as soon as my lordH113 the kingH4428 sleepsH7901 with his fathersH1, that I and my sonH1121 SolomonH8010 will be considered 7offendersH2400.”
22BeholdH2009, while she was stillH5750 speakingH1696 with the kingH4428, NathanH5416 the prophetH5030 cameH935 in. 23They toldH5046 the kingH4428, sayingH559, “HereH2009 is NathanH5416 the prophetH5030.” And when he cameH935 in beforeH6440 the kingH4428, he prostratedH7812 himself 8before the kingH4428 with his faceH639 to the groundH776. 24Then NathanH5416 saidH559, “My lordH113 the kingH4428, have you saidH559, ‘AdonijahH138 shall be kingH4427 afterH310 me, and he shall sitH3427 on my throneH3678’? 259For he has goneH3381 downH3381 todayH3117 and has sacrificedH2076 oxenH7794 and fatlingsH4806 and sheepH6629 in abundanceH7230, and has invitedH7121 allH3605 the king’sH4428 sonsH1121 and the commandersH8269 of the armyH6635 and AbiatharH54 the priestH3548, and beholdH2009, they are eatingH398 and drinkingH8354 beforeH6440 him; and they sayH559, ‘10Long liveH2421 KingH4428 AdonijahH138!’ 2611But me, even me your servantH5650, and ZadokH6659 the priestH3548 and BenaiahH1141 the sonH1121 of JehoiadaH3077 and your servantH5650 SolomonH8010, he has not invitedH7121. 27Has thisH2088 thingH1697 beenH1961 doneH1961 by my lordH113 the kingH4428, and you have not shownH3045 to your 12servantsH5650 whoH4310 should sitH3427 on the throneH3678 of my lordH113 the kingH4428 afterH310 him?”
28Then KingH4428 DavidH1732 saidH559, “CallH7121 BathshebaH1339 to me.” And she cameH935 into the king’sH4428 presenceH6440 and stoodH5975 beforeH6440 the kingH4428. 29The kingH4428 vowedH7650 and saidH559, “13As the LordH3068 livesH2416, whoH834 has redeemedH6299 my lifeH5315 from allH3605 distressH6869, 30surelyH3588 as 14I vowedH7650 to you by the LordH3068 the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, ‘Your sonH1121 SolomonH8010 shall be kingH4427 afterH310 me, and he shall sitH3427 on my throneH3678 in my placeH8478’; I will indeedH3588 doH6213 soH3651 thisH2088 dayH3117.” 31Then BathshebaH1339 bowedH6915 with her faceH639 to the groundH776, and prostratedH7812 herself 15before the kingH4428 and saidH559, “16May my lordH113 KingH4428 DavidH1732 liveH2421 foreverH5769.”
