1Then KingH4428 DavidH1732 saidH559 to the entireH3605 assemblyH6951, “My sonH1121 SolomonH8010, whom aloneH259 GodH430 has chosenH977, 1is still youngH5288 and inexperiencedH7390 and the workH4399 is greatH1419; for 2the 3templeH1002 is not for manH120, but for the LordH3068 GodH430. 2Now 4with allH3605 my abilityH3581 I have providedH3559 for the houseH1004 of my GodH430 the goldH2091 for the things of goldH2091, and the silverH3701 for the things of silverH3701, and the bronzeH5178 for the things of bronzeH5178, the ironH1270 for the things of ironH1270, and woodH6086 for the things of woodH6086, onyxH7718 stonesH68 and inlaidH4394 stones, stonesH68 of antimonyH6320 and stonesH7553 of variousH7553 colorsH7553, and allH3605 kinds of preciousH3368 stonesH68 and alabasterH7893 in abundanceH7230. 3MoreoverH5750, in my delightH7521 in the houseH1004 of my GodH430, the treasureH5459 I haveH3426 of goldH2091 and silverH3701, I giveH5414 to the houseH1004 of my GodH430, overH4605 and aboveH4480H4605 allH3605 that I have already providedH3559 for the holyH6944 5templeH1004, 4namely, 63,000H7969H505 talentsH3603 of goldH2091, of 7the goldH2091 of OphirH211, and 7,000H7651H505 talentsH3603 of refinedH2212 silverH3701, to overlayH2902 the wallsH7023 of the 8buildingsH1004; 5of goldH2091 for the things of goldH2091 and of silverH3701 for the things of silverH3701, that is, for allH3605 the workH4399 9doneH3027 by the craftsmenH2796. WhoH4310 then is willingH5068 10to consecrateH4390H3027 himself this dayH3117 to the LordH3068?”
6Then 11the rulersH8269 of the fathers’H1 households, and the princesH8269 of the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, and the commandersH8269 of thousandsH505 and of hundredsH3967, with 12the overseersH8269 over the king’sH4428 workH4399, offeredH5068 willinglyH5068; 7and for the serviceH5656 for the houseH1004 of GodH430 they gaveH5414 5,000H2568H505 talentsH3603 and 10,000H6235H505 13daricsH150 of goldH2091, and 10,000H6235H505 talentsH3603 of silverH3701, and 18,000H8083H7239H505 talentsH3603 of brassH5178, and 100,000H3967H505 talentsH3603 of ironH1270. 814Whoever possessedH4672 precious stonesH68 gaveH5414 them to the treasuryH214 of the houseH1004 of the LordH3068, 15in careH3027 of 16JehielH3171 the GershoniteH1649. 9Then the peopleH5971 rejoicedH8055 becauseH5921 they had offeredH5068 so willinglyH5068, for they madeH5068 their offeringH5068 to the LordH3068 17with a wholeH8003 heartH3820, and KingH4428 DavidH1732 alsoH1571 rejoicedH8055 greatlyH1419.
David’s Prayer
10So DavidH1732 blessedH1288 the LordH3068 in the sightH5869 of allH3605 the assemblyH6951; and DavidH1732 saidH559, “BlessedH1288 are You, O LordH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478 our fatherH1, foreverH5769 and everH5769. 1118Yours, O LordH3068, is the greatnessH1420 and the powerH1369 and the gloryH8597 and the victoryH5331 and the majestyH1935, indeedH3588 everythingH3605 that is in the heavensH8064 and the earthH776; Yours is the dominionH4467, O LordH3068, and You exaltH5375 Yourself as headH7218 over allH3605. 1219Both richesH6239 and honorH3519 come from You, and You ruleH4910 over allH3605, and 20in Your handH3027 is powerH3581 and mightH1369; and it lies in Your handH3027 to makeH1431 greatH1431 and to strengthenH2388 everyoneH3605. 13NowH6258 therefore, our GodH430, we thankH3034 You, and praiseH1984 Your gloriousH8597 nameH8034.
14“But whoH4310 am I and whoH4310 are my peopleH5971 that we should 21be ableH6113H3581 to offerH5068 as generously as thisH2088? For allH3605 thingsH3605 come from You, and from Your handH3027 we have givenH5414 You. 15For 22we are sojournersH1616 beforeH6440 You, and tenantsH8453, as allH3605 our fathersH1 were; 23our daysH3117 on the earthH776 are like a shadowH6738, and thereH369 is noH369 hopeH4723. 16O LordH3068 our GodH430, allH3605 thisH2088 abundanceH1995 that we have providedH3559 to buildH1129 You a houseH1004 for Your holyH6944 nameH8034, it is from Your handH3027, and allH3605 is Yours. 17Since I knowH3045, O my GodH430, that 24You tryH974 the heartH3824 and 25delightH7521 in uprightnessH4339, I, in the integrityH3476 of my heartH3824, have willinglyH5068 offeredH5068 allH3605 theseH428 things; so nowH6258 with joyH8057 I have seenH7200 Your peopleH5971, who are presentH4672 hereH6311, makeH5068 their offeringsH5068 willinglyH5068 to You. 18O LordH3068, the GodH430 of AbrahamH85, IsaacH3327 and IsraelH3478, our fathersH1, preserveH8104 thisH2088 foreverH5769 in the 26intentionsH3336H4284 of the heartH3824 of Your peopleH5971, and directH3559 their heartH3824 to You; 19and 27giveH5414 to my sonH1121 SolomonH8010 a perfectH8003 heartH3824 to keepH8104 Your commandmentsH4687, Your testimoniesH5715 and Your statutesH2706, and to doH6213 them allH3605, and 28to buildH1129 the 29templeH1002, for whichH834 I have madeH3559 provisionH3559.”
20Then DavidH1732 saidH559 to allH3605 the assemblyH6951, “NowH4994 blessH1288 the LordH3068 your GodH430.” And 30allH3605 the assemblyH6951 blessedH1288 the LordH3068, the GodH430 of their fathersH1, and 31bowedH6915 lowH6915 and didH7812 homageH7812 to the LordH3068 and to the kingH4428.
Sacrifices
21On the nextH4283 dayH3117 32they 33madeH2076 sacrificesH2077 to the LordH3068 and offeredH5927 burntH5930 offeringsH5930 to the LordH3068, 1,000H505 bullsH6499, 1,000H505 ramsH352 and 1,000H505 lambsH3532, with their drinkH5262 offeringsH5262 and sacrificesH2077 in abundanceH7230 for allH3605 IsraelH3478.
Solomon Again Made King
22So they ateH398 and drankH8354 that dayH3117 beforeH6440 the LordH3068 with greatH1419 gladnessH8057.
And they madeH4427 SolomonH8010 the sonH1121 of DavidH1732 kingH4427 34a secondH8145 timeH8145, and they 35anointedH4886 him as rulerH5057 for the LordH3068 and ZadokH6659 as priestH3548. 23Then 36SolomonH8010 satH3427 on the throneH3678 of the LordH3068 as kingH4428 insteadH8478 of DavidH1732 his fatherH1; and he prosperedH6743, and allH3605 IsraelH3478 obeyedH8085 him. 24AllH3605 the officialsH8269, the mightyH1368 menH1368, and alsoH1571 allH3605 the sonsH1121 of KingH4428 DavidH1732 37pledgedH5414 allegianceH3027H8478 to KingH4428 SolomonH8010. 2538The LordH3068 highlyH4605 exaltedH1431 SolomonH8010 in the sightH5869 of allH3605 IsraelH3478, and 39bestowedH5414 on him royalH4438 majestyH1935 whichH834 hadH1961 not beenH1961 on anyH3605 kingH4428 beforeH6440 him in IsraelH3478.
26Now 40DavidH1732 the sonH1121 of JesseH3448 reignedH4427 overH5921 allH3605 IsraelH3478. 2741The periodH3117 whichH834 he reignedH4427 overH5921 IsraelH3478 was fortyH705 yearsH8141; he reignedH4427 in HebronH2275 sevenH7651 yearsH8141 and 42in JerusalemH3389 thirty-threeH7970H7969 years.
