Offerings for the Temple

1Then KingH4428 DavidH1732 saidH559 to the wholeH3605 assemblyH6951, “My sonH1121 SolomonH8010, the oneH259 whom GodH430 has chosenH977, is youngH5288 and inexperiencedH7390. The taskH4399 is greatH1419 becauseH3588 this palaceH1002 is notH3808 for manH120, butH3588 for the LORDH3068 GodH430. 2Now with allH3605 my abilityH3581 I have made provisionH3559 for the houseH1004 of my GodH430—goldH2091 for the gold articlesH2091, silverH3701 for the silverH3701, bronzeH5178 for the bronzeH5178, ironH1270 for the ironH1270, and woodH6086 for the woodH6086, as well as onyxH68H7718 for the settingsH4394, turquoiseH68H6320, stones of various colorsH7553, all kindsH3605 of preciousH3368 stonesH68, and slabsH68 of marbleH7893—all in abundanceH7230.

3MoreoverH5750, because of my delightH7521 in the houseH1004 of my GodH430H3426, I now giveH5414 forH1004H430 it my personal treasuresH5459 of goldH2091 and silverH3701, over and aboveH4605 allH3605 that I have providedH3559 for this holyH6944 templeH1004: 4threeH7969 thousandH505 talentsH3603 of goldH20911 (the goldH2091 of OphirH211) and sevenH7651 thousandH505 talentsH3603 of refinedH2212 silverH3701,2 to overlayH2902 the wallsH7023 of the buildingsH1004, 5for the gold workH2091 and the silver workH3701, and for allH3605 the workH4399 to be done byH3027 the craftsmenH2796. Now whoH4310 is willingH5068 to consecrateH4390 himselfH3027 to the LORDH3068 todayH3117?”

6Then the leadersH8269 of the familiesH1, the officersH8269 of the tribesH7626 of IsraelH3478, the commandersH8269 of thousandsH505 and of hundredsH3967, and the officialsH8269 in charge of the king’sH4428 workH4399 gave willinglyH5068. 7Toward the serviceH5656 of God’sH430 houseH1004 they gaveH5414 5,000H2568H505 talentsH36033 and 10,000H7239 daricsH150 of goldH2091,4 10,000H6235H505 talentsH3603 of silverH3701,5 18,000H7239H8083H505 talentsH3603 of bronzeH5178,6 and 100,000H3967H505 talentsH3603 of ironH1270.7 8Whoever hadH4672H854 precious stonesH68 gave themH5414 to the treasuryH214 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, underH5921 the careH3027 of JehielH31718 the GershoniteH1649. 9And the peopleH5971 rejoicedH8055 atH5921 the willing response of their leadersH5068, forH3588 they had givenH5068 to the LORD freelyH3068 and wholeheartedlyH3820H8003. And KingH4428 DavidH1732 alsoH1571 rejoicedH8055H8057 greatlyH1419.

David’s Prayer of Blessing

10Then DavidH1732 blessedH1288 the LORDH3068 in the sightH5869 of allH3605 the assemblyH6951 and saidH559:

“May YouH859 be blessedH1288, O LORDH3068, GodH430 of our fatherH1 IsraelH3478, from everlastingH5769 toH5704 everlastingH5769.

11Yours, O LORDH3068, is the greatnessH1420 and the powerH1369 and the gloryH8597 and the splendorH1935 and the majestyH5331, forH3588 everythingH3605 in heavenH8064 and on earth belongs to YouH776.

Yours, O LORDH3068, is the kingdomH4467, and You are exaltedH5375 as headH7218 over allH3605. 12Both richesH6239 and honorH3519 come from YouH6440, and YouH859 are the rulerH4910 over allH3605. In Your handsH3027 are powerH3581 and mightH1369 to exaltH1431 and give strengthH2388 to allH3605.

13Now thereforeH6258, our GodH430, weH587 give You thanksH3034, and we praiseH1984 Your gloriousH8597 nameH8034. 14ButH3588 whoH4310 am IH589, and whoH4310 are my peopleH5971, thatH3588 we should be ableH6113H3581 to give as generouslyH5068 as thisH2063? ForH3588 everythingH3605 comes from YouH4480, and from Your own handH3027 we have givenH5414 to You. 15ForH3588 weH587 are foreignersH1616 and strangersH8453 in Your presenceH6440, as were allH3605 our forefathersH1. Our daysH3117 onH5921 earthH776 are like a shadowH6738, withoutH369 hopeH4723.

16O LORDH3068 our GodH430, from Your handH3027 comesH1931 allH3605 thisH2088 abundanceH1995 thatH834 we have providedH3559 to buildH1129 You a houseH1004 for Your holyH6944 NameH8034, and all of itH3605 belongs to You. 17I knowH3045, my GodH430, thatH3588 YouH859 testH974 the heartH3824 and delightH7521 in uprightnessH4339. AllH3605 these thingsH428 IH589 have given willinglyH5068 and with an uprightH3476 heartH3824, and nowH6258 I have seenH7200 Your peopleH5971 who are presentH4672 hereH6311 giving joyfullyH8057 and willinglyH5068 to You.

18O LORDH3068, GodH430 of our fathersH1 AbrahamH85, IsaacH3327, and IsraelH3478, keepH8104 thisH2063 desireH3336 foreverH5769 in the intentionsH4284 of the heartsH3824 of Your peopleH5971, and directH3559 their heartsH3824 toward YouH413. 19And giveH5414 my sonH1121 SolomonH8010 a wholeH8003 heartH3824 to keepH8104 and carry outH6213 allH3605 Your commandmentsH4687, decreesH5715, and statutesH2706, and to buildH1129 Your palaceH1002 for whichH834 I have made provisionH3559.”

20Then DavidH1732 saidH559 to the wholeH3605 assemblyH6951, “BlessH1288H4994 the LORDH3068 your GodH430.”

So the wholeH3605 assemblyH6951 blessedH1288 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of their fathersH1. They bowed downH6915 and paid homageH7812 to the LORDH3068 and to the kingH4428.

Solomon Anointed King

(1 Kings 1:32–40)

21The next dayH4283H3117H1931 they offeredH2076 sacrificesH2077H5927 and presented burnt offeringsH5930 to the LORDH3068: a thousandH505 bullsH6499, a thousandH505 ramsH352, and a thousandH505 lambsH3532, along with their drink offeringsH5262, and other sacrificesH2077 in abundanceH7230 for allH3605 IsraelH3478. 22ThatH1931 dayH3117 they ateH398 and drankH8354 with greatH1419 joyH8057 in the presenceH6440 of the LORDH3068.

Then, for a secondH8145 time, they designated David’sH1732 sonH1121 SolomonH8010 as kingH4427, anointing himH4886 before the LORDH3068 as rulerH5057, and ZadokH6659 as the priestH3548.

23So SolomonH8010 satH3427 onH5921 the throneH3678 of the LORDH3068 as kingH4428 in place ofH8478 his fatherH1 DavidH1732. He prosperedH6743, and allH3605 IsraelH3478 obeyed himH8085H413. 24AllH3605 the officialsH8269 and mighty menH1368, as well asH1571 allH3605 of KingH4428 David’sH1732 sonsH1121, pledgedH5414 their allegianceH3027 toH8478 KingH4428 SolomonH8010.

25The LORDH3068 highlyH4605 exaltedH1431 SolomonH8010 in the sightH5869 of allH3605 IsraelH3478 and bestowedH5414 on himH5921 royalH4438 majestyH1935 such asH834 had notH3808 beenH1961 bestowed onH5921 anyH3605 kingH4428 inH5921 IsraelH3478 before himH6440.

David’s Reign and Death

(1 Kings 2:10–12)

26DavidH1732 sonH1121 of JesseH3448 was kingH4427 overH5921 allH3605 IsraelH3478. 27The lengthH3117 of David’sH834 reignH4427 overH5921 IsraelH3478 was fortyH705 yearsH8141—sevenH7651 yearsH8141 in HebronH2275H4427 and thirty-three yearsH7970H7969 in JerusalemH3389. 28He diedH4191 at a ripeH2896 old ageH7872, fullH7649 of yearsH3117, richesH6239, and honorH3519, and his sonH1121 SolomonH8010 reignedH4427 in his placeH8478.

29Now the actsH1697 of KingH4428 DavidH1732, from firstH7223 to lastH314, are indeedH2009 writtenH3789 inH5921 the ChroniclesH1697 of SamuelH8050 the SeerH7203H5921, the ChroniclesH1697 of NathanH5416 the ProphetH5030, andH5921 the ChroniclesH1697 of GadH1410 the SeerH2374, 30together withH5973 all the detailsH3605 of his reignH4438, his mightH1369, and the circumstancesH6256 thatH834 cameH5674 upon himH5921 and IsraelH3478 and allH3605 the kingdomsH4467 of the landsH776.
