Peril in Transporting the Ark
1Then DavidH1732 consultedH3289 with the captainsH8269 of the thousandsH505 and the hundredsH3967, even with everyH3605 leaderH5057. 2DavidH1732 saidH559 to allH3605 the assemblyH6951 of IsraelH3478, “IfH518 it seems goodH2895 to you, and if it is from the LordH3068 our GodH430, let us sendH7971 everywhereH6555 to our kinsmenH251 who remainH7604 in allH3605 the landH776 of IsraelH3478, also to the priestsH3548 and LevitesH3881 who are with them in their citiesH5892 with pastureH4054 landsH4054, that they may meetH6908 with us; 3and let us bringH5437 backH5437 the arkH727 of our GodH430 to us, 1for we did not seekH1875 it in the daysH3117 of SaulH7586.” 4Then allH3605 the assemblyH6951 saidH559 that they would doH6213 soH3651, for the thingH1697 was rightH3474 in the eyesH5869 of allH3605 the peopleH5971.
52So DavidH1732 assembledH6950 allH3605 IsraelH3478 together, from the ShihorH7883 of EgyptH4714 even to the entranceH935 of HamathH2574, 3to bringH935 the arkH727 of GodH430 from Kiriath-jearimH7157. 64DavidH1732 and allH3605 IsraelH3478 wentH5927 up to 5BaalahH1173, that is, to Kiriath-jearimH7157, whichH834 belongs to JudahH3063, to bringH5927 up from thereH8033 the arkH727 of GodH430, the LordH3068 6who is enthronedH3427 above the cherubimH3742, whereH834 His nameH8034 is calledH7121. 7They 7carriedH7392 the arkH727 of GodH430 on a newH2319 cartH5699 from 8the houseH1004 of AbinadabH41, and UzzaH5798 and AhioH283 droveH5090 the cartH5699. 8DavidH1732 and allH3605 IsraelH3478 were celebratingH7832 beforeH6440 GodH430 with allH3605 their mightH5797, 9even with songsH7892 and with lyresH3658, harpsH5035, tambourinesH8596, cymbalsH4700 and with trumpetsH2689.
9When they cameH935 to 10the threshingH1637 floorH1637 of ChidonH3592, UzzaH5798 putH7971 out his handH3027 to holdH270 the arkH727, becauseH3588 the oxenH1241 nearly upsetH8058 it. 10The angerH639 of the LordH3068 burnedH2734 against UzzaH5798, so He struckH5221 him downH5221 11becauseH5921H834 he putH7971 out his handH3027 to the arkH727; 12and he diedH4191 thereH8033 beforeH6440 GodH430. 11Then DavidH1732 becameH2734 angryH2734 becauseH3588 13of the Lord’sH3068 outburstH6555H6556 against UzzaH5798; and he calledH7121 that placeH4725 14Perez-uzzaH6560 to thisH2088 dayH3117. 12DavidH1732 was afraidH3372 of GodH430 that dayH3117, sayingH559, “HowH1963 can I bringH935 the arkH727 of GodH430 home to me?” 13So DavidH1732 did not takeH5493 the arkH727 with him to the cityH5892 of DavidH1732, but tookH5186 it asideH5186 15to the houseH1004 of Obed-edomH5654 the GittiteH1663. 14Thus the arkH727 of GodH430 remainedH3427 with the familyH1004 of Obed-edomH5654 in his houseH1004 threeH7969 monthsH2320; and 16the LordH3068 blessedH1288 the familyH1004 of Obed-edomH5654 with allH3605 that he had.
