50Now beforeבְּטֶ֥רֶםbe.Te.remH2962the yearשְׁנַ֣תshe.NatH8141of famineהָרָעָ֑בha.ra.'AvH7458cameתָּב֖וֹאta.Vo'H935,twoשְׁנֵ֣יshe.NeiH8147sonsבָנִ֔יםva.NimH1121were bornיֻלַּד֙yu.LadH3205to Josephוּלְיוֹסֵ֤ףu.le.yo.SefH3130,whomאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834Asenathאָֽסְנַ֔ת'a.se.NatH621,the daughterבַּת־bat-H1323of PotipheraH6319priestכֹּהֵ֥ןko.HenH3548ofOnאֽוֹן׃'onH204,boreיָֽלְדָה־Yal.dah-H3205to him.

51Josephיוֹסֵ֛ףyo.SefH3130namedוַיִּקְרָ֥א שֵׁ֥םvai.yik.Ra' shemH7121 H8034the firstbornהַבְּכ֖וֹרha.be.KhorH1060Manassehמְנַשֶּׁ֑הme.na.ShehH4519, “For,” he said, “Godאֱלֹהִים֙'E.lo.HimH430has made me forgetנַשַּׁ֤נִיna.Sha.niH5382allכָּל־kol-H3605my troubleעֲמָלִ֔י'a.ma.LiH5999and allכָּל־kol-H3605my father’sאָבִֽי׃'a.ViH1householdבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004.”

52He namedשֵׁ֥ם קָרָ֣אshem ka.Ra'H7121 H8034the secondהַשֵּׁנִ֖יha.she.NiH8145Ephraimאֶפְרָ֑יִם'ef.Ra.yimH669, “For,” he said, “Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430has madeH6509me fruitfulהִפְרַ֥נִיhif.Ra.niH6509in the landבְּאֶ֥רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of my afflictionעָנְיִֽי׃'a.ne.YiH6040.”

53When the sevenשֶׁ֖בַעShe.va'H7651yearsשְׁנֵ֣יshe.NeiH8141of plentyהַשָּׂבָ֑עha.sa.Va'H7647whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834had beenהָיָ֖הha.YahH1961in the landבְּאֶ֥רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714cameH3615to an endוַתִּכְלֶ֕ינָהva.tikh.Lei.nahH3615,

54andthe sevenשֶׁ֣בַעShe.va'H7651yearsשְׁנֵ֤יshe.NeiH8141of famineהָרָעָב֙ha.ra.'AvH7458beganוַתְּחִלֶּ֜ינָהva.te.chi.Lei.nahH2490to comeלָב֔וֹאla.Vo'H935,justH3512as Josephיוֹסֵ֑ףyo.SefH3130had saidאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559,then there was famineרָעָב֙ra.'AvH7458in allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605the landsהָ֣אֲרָצ֔וֹתha.'a.ra.TzotH776,but in allוּבְכָל־u.ve.Khol-H3605the landאֶ֥רֶץ'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֖יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714there was breadלָֽחֶם׃La.chemH3899.

55So when allכָּל־kol-H3605the landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרַ֔יִםmitz.Ra.yimH4714was famishedוַתִּרְעַב֙va.tir.'AvH7456,the peopleהָעָ֛םha.'AmH5971criedוַיִּצְעַ֥קvai.yitz.'AkH6817out to Pharaohפַּרְעֹ֖הpar.'OhH6547for breadלַלָּ֑חֶםla.La.chemH3899;and Pharaohפַּרְעֹ֤הpar.'OhH6547saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to allלְכָל־le.kholH3605the EgyptiansH4714, “Goלְכ֣וּle.KhuH1980to Josephיוֹסֵ֔ףyo.SefH3130;whateverאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834he saysיֹאמַ֥רyo.MarH559to you, you shall doתַּעֲשֽׂוּ׃ta.'a.SuH6213.”

56When the famineוְהָרָעָ֣בve.ha.ra.'AvH7458was spreadoverעַ֖ל'alH5921allכָּל־kol-H3605the faceפְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440of the earthהָאָ֑רֶץha.'A.retzH776,then Josephיוֹסֵ֜ףyo.SefH3130openedוַיִּפְתַּ֨חvai.yif.TachH6605allכָּל־kol-H3605the storehousesאֲשֶׁ֤ר'a.SherH834,and soldוַיִּשְׁבֹּ֣רvai.yish.BorH7666to the Egyptiansלְמִצְרַ֔יִםle.mitz.Ra.yimH4714;and the famineהָֽרָעָ֖בha.ra.'AvH7458was severeוַיֶּחֱזַ֥קvai.ye.che.ZakH2388in the landבְּאֶ֥רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714.
