1Nowthe serpentוְהַנָּחָשׁ֙ve.ha.na.ChashH5175was moreH4480craftyעָר֔וּם'a.RumH6175thanH4480anyמִכֹּל֙mi.KolH3605beastH2421of the fieldהַשָּׂדֶ֔הha.sa.DehH7704whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֑ים'E.lo.HimH430had madeעָשָׂ֖ה'a.SahH6213.And he saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559to the womanהָ֣אִשָּׁ֔הha.'i.ShahH802, “Indeedאַ֚ף כִּֽי־'af ki-H637 H3588,has Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430saidאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559, ‘You shall not eatתֹֽאכְל֔וּto.khe.LuH398fromanyמִכֹּ֖לmi.KolH3605treeעֵ֥ץ'etzH6086of the gardenהַגָּֽן׃ha.GANH1588’?”

2The womanהָֽאִשָּׁ֖הha.'i.ShahH802saidוַתֹּ֥אמֶרva.To.merH559to the serpentהַנָּחָ֑שׁha.na.ChashH5175, “From the fruitמִפְּרִ֥יmi.pe.RiH6529of the treesעֵֽץ־'etz-H6086of the gardenהַגָּ֖ןha.GanH1588we may eatנֹאכֵֽל׃no.KhelH398;

3but from the fruitוּמִפְּרִ֣יu.mi.pe.RiH6529of the treeהָעֵץ֮ha.'EtzH6086whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834is in the middleבְּתוֹךְ־be.tokh-H8432of the gardenהַגָּן֒ha.GanH1588,Godאֱלֹהִ֗ים'E.lo.HimH430has saidאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559, ‘You shall not eatתֹֽאכְלוּ֙to.khe.LuH398from it or touchתִגְּע֖וּti.ge.'UH5060it, or you will dieתְּמֻתֽוּן׃te.mu.TunH4191.’”

4The serpentהַנָּחָ֖שׁha.na.ChashH5175saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the womanהָֽאִשָּׁ֑הha.'i.ShahH802, “You surelyמ֖וֹתMotH4191will not dieתְּמֻתֽוּן׃te.mu.TunH4191!

5For Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430knowsיֹדֵ֣עַyo.De.a'H3045that in the dayבְּיוֹם֙be.yOmH3117you eatאֲכָלְכֶ֣ם'a.khal.KhemH398from it your eyesעֵֽינֵיכֶ֑ם'ei.nei.KhemH5869will be openedוְנִפְקְח֖וּve.nif.ke.ChuH6491, andyou will be like Godכֵּֽאלֹהִ֔יםke.lo.HimH430,knowingיֹדְעֵ֖יyo.de.'EiH3045goodט֥וֹבTovH2896and evilוָרָֽע׃va.Ra'H7451.”

6When the womanהָֽאִשָּׁ֡הha.'i.ShahH802sawוַתֵּ֣רֶאva.Te.re'H7200that the treeהָעֵ֨ץha.'EtzH6086was goodטוֹב֩tOvH2896for foodלְמַאֲכָ֜לle.ma.'a.KhalH3978,and that it was a delightתַֽאֲוָה־ta.'a.vah-H8378to the eyesלָעֵינַ֗יִםla.'ei.Na.yimH5869,and that the treeהָעֵץ֙ha.'EtzH6086was desirableוְנֶחְמָ֤דve.nech.MadH2530to make onewiseלְהַשְׂכִּ֔ילle.has.KilH7919,she tookוַתִּקַּ֥חva.ti.KachH3947from its fruitמִפִּרְי֖וֹmi.pir.YoH6529and ateוַתֹּאכַ֑לva.to.KhalH398;and she gaveוַתִּתֵּ֧ןva.ti.TenH5414alsoגַּם־gam-H1571to her husbandלְאִישָׁ֛הּle.'i.ShahH376with her, and he ateוַיֹּאכַֽל׃vai.yo.KhalH398.

7Then the eyesעֵינֵ֣י'ei.NeiH5869of bothשְׁנֵיהֶ֔םshe.nei.HemH8147of them were openedוַתִּפָּקַ֙חְנָה֙va.ti.pa.Kach.nahH6491, and theyknewוַיֵּ֣דְע֔וּvai.Ye.de.'UH3045that they were nakedעֵֽירֻמִּ֖ם'ei.ru.MimH5903;and they sewedוַֽיִּתְפְּרוּ֙vai.yit.pe.RuH8609figתְאֵנָ֔הte.'e.NahH8384leavesעֲלֵ֣ה'a.LehH5929togetherH8609and madeוַיַּעֲשׂ֥וּvai.ya.'a.SuH6213themselvesהֵ֑םHemH1992loinH2290coveringsH2290.

8They heardוַֽיִּשְׁמְע֞וּvai.yish.me.'UH8085the soundק֨וֹלKolH6963ofthe Lordיְהוָ֧הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֛ים'E.lo.HimH430walkingמִתְהַלֵּ֥ךְmit.ha.LekhH1980in the gardenבַּגָּ֖ןba.GanH1588in thecoolלְר֣וּחַle.Ru.achH7307of the dayהַיּ֑וֹםhai.YomH3117,and the manהָֽאָדָ֜םha.'a.DamH120and his wifeוְאִשְׁתּ֗וֹve.'ish.ToH802hidוַיִּתְחַבֵּ֨אvai.yit.cha.Be'H2244themselves from the presenceמִפְּנֵי֙mi.pe.NeiH6440of the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֔ים'E.lo.HimH430amongבְּת֖וֹךְbe.TokhH8432the treesעֵ֥ץ'etzH6086of the gardenהַגָּֽן׃ha.GanH1588.

9Then the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֖ים'E.lo.HimH430calledוַיִּקְרָ֛אvai.yik.Ra'H7121to the manהָֽאָדָ֑םha.'a.DamH120,and saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to him, “Whereאַיֶּֽכָּה׃'ai.Ye.kahH335are you?”

10He saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “I heardשָׁמַ֖עְתִּיsha.Ma'.tiH8085the soundקֹלְךָ֥ko.le.ChaH6963of You in the gardenבַּגָּ֑ןba.GanH1588,and I was afraidוָאִירָ֛אva.'i.Ra'H3372becauseכִּֽי־ki-H3588I was nakedעֵירֹ֥ם'ei.RomH5903;so I hidוָאֵחָבֵֽא׃va.'e.cha.Ve'H2244myself.”

11And He saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whoמִ֚יmiH4310toldהִגִּ֣ידhi.GidH5046you that you were nakedעֵירֹ֖ם'ei.RomH5903?Have you eatenאֲכָל־'a.khol-H398from the treeהָעֵ֗ץha.'EtzH6086of whichאֲשֶׁ֧ר'a.SherH834I commandedצִוִּיתִ֛יךָtzi.vi.Ti.khaH6680you not to eatאָכָֽלְתָּ׃'a.Khal.taH398?”

12The manהָֽאָדָ֑םha.'a.DamH120saidוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “The womanהָֽאִשָּׁה֙ha.'i.ShahH802whomאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834You gaveנָתַ֣תָּהna.Ta.tahH5414to bewith me, she gaveנָֽתְנָה־na.te.nah-H5414me from the treeהָעֵ֖ץha.'EtzH6086,and I ateוָאֹכֵֽל׃va.'o.KhelH398.”

13Then the Lordיְהוָ֧הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֛ים'E.lo.HimH430saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the womanלָאִשָּׁ֖הla.'i.ShahH802, “Whatמַה־mah-H4100is thisH2088you have doneעָשִׂ֑ית'a.SitH6213?”And the womanהָֽאִשָּׁ֔הha.'i.ShahH802saidוַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙va.To.merH559, “The serpentהַנָּחָ֥שׁha.na.ChashH5175deceivedH5378me, and I ateוָאֹכֵֽל׃va.'o.KhelH398.”

14The Lordיְהֹוָ֨הYah.wehH3068Godאֱלֹהִ֥ים׀'E.lo.HimH430saidוַיֹּאמֶר֩vai.yo.MerH559to the serpentהַנָּחָשׁ֮ha.na.ChashH5175, “Becauseכִּ֣יkiH3588you have doneעָשִׂ֣יתָ'a.Si.taH6213thisH2088,Cursedאָר֤וּר'a.RurH779are you moreH4480thanH4480allמִכָּל־mi.kolH3605cattleהַבְּהֵמָ֔הha.be.he.MahH929,And moreH4480thanH4480everyוּמִכֹּ֖לu.mi.KolH3605beastH2421of the fieldהַשָּׂדֶ֑הha.sa.DehH7704;On your bellyגְּחֹנְךָ֣ge.cho.ne.KhaH1512you will goתֵלֵ֔ךְte.LekhH1980, Anddustוְעָפָ֥רve.'a.FarH6083you will eatתֹּאכַ֖לto.KhalH398Allכָּל־kol-H3605the daysיְמֵ֥יye.MeiH3117of your lifeH2425;

15And I will putאָשִׁ֗ית'a.ShitH7896enmityוְאֵיבָ֣ה׀ve.'ei.VahH342BetweenH996you and the womanהָֽאִשָּׁ֔הha.'i.ShahH802,And betweenH996your seedזַרְעֲךָ֖zar.'a.KhaH2233and her seedזַרְעָ֑הּzar.'AhH2233; He shallbruiseיְשׁוּפְךָ֣ye.shu.fe.KhaH7779you on the headרֹ֔אשׁRoshH7218,And you shall bruiseתְּשׁוּפֶ֥נּוּte.shu.Fe.nuH7779him on the heelעָקֵֽב׃ ס'a.KevH6119.”
