4Then the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872, “BeholdH2009,I will rainמַמְטִ֥ירmam.TirH4305breadלֶ֖חֶםLe.chemH3899from heavenהַשָּׁמָ֑יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064for you; and the peopleהָעָ֤םha.'AmH5971shall goוְיָצָ֨אve.ya.Tza'H3318out and gatherוְלָֽקְטוּ֙ve.la.ke.TuH3950a day’sי֣וֹםYomH3117portionדְּבַר־de.var-H1697every dayבְּיוֹמ֔וֹbe.yo.MoH3117, that I maytestאֲנַסֶּ֛נּוּ'a.nas.Se.nuH5254them, whether orאִם־'im-H518not they will walkהֲיֵלֵ֥ךְha.ye.LekhH1980in Myinstructionבְּתוֹרָתִ֖יbe.to.ra.TiH8451.
6So Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872and Aaronוְאַהֲרֹ֔ןve.'a.ha.RonH175saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to allכָּל־kol-H3605the sonsבְּנֵ֖יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478, “At eveningעֶ֕רֶב'E.revH6153you will knowוִֽידַעְתֶּ֕םvi.da'.TemH3045that the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068has broughtהוֹצִ֥יאho.Tzi'H3318you out of the landמֵאֶ֥רֶץme.'E.retzH776of Egyptמִצְרָֽיִם׃mitz.Ra.yimH4714;
7and in the morningוּבֹ֗קֶרu.Vo.kerH1242you will seeוּרְאִיתֶם֙u.re.'i.TemH7200the gloryכְּב֣וֹדke.VodH3519of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068, forHe hearsבְּשָׁמְע֥וֹbe.sha.me.'OH8085your grumblingsתְּלֻנֹּתֵיכֶ֖םte.lu.no.tei.KhemH8519againstעַל־'al-H5921the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068; andwhatמָ֔הMahH4100are we, that you grumbleתַלִּ֖ינוּta.lo.nuH3885againstעָלֵֽינוּ׃'a.Lei.nuH5921us?”

8Mosesמֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “This will happenwhen the Lordיְהוָה֩Yah.wehH3068givesבְּתֵ֣תbe.TetH5414youmeatבָּשָׂ֣רba.SarH1320to eatלֶאֱכֹ֗לle.'e.KholH398in the eveningבָּעֶ֜רֶבba.'E.revH6153,and breadוְלֶ֤חֶםve.Le.chemH3899to the fullלִשְׂבֹּ֔עַlis.Bo.a'H7646in the morningבַּבֹּ֙קֶר֙ba.Bo.kerH1242;for the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068hearsבִּשְׁמֹ֤עַbish.Mo.a'H8085your grumblingsתְּלֻנֹּ֣תֵיכֶ֔םte.lu.No.tei.KhemH8519whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834you grumbleמַלִּינִ֖םma.li.NimH3885againstעָלָ֑יו'a.LavH5921Him. And whatמָ֔הMahH4100are we? Your grumblingsתְלֻנֹּתֵיכֶ֖םte.lu.no.tei.KhemH8519arenot againstעָלֵ֥ינוּ'a.Lei.nuH5921us but againstעַל־'al-H5921the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.”
9Then Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Aaronאַהֲרֹ֔ן'a.ha.RonH175, “Sayאֱמֹ֗ר'e.MorH559to allכָּל־kol-H3605the congregationעֲדַת֙'a.DatH5712of the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478, ‘ComeH7126nearH7126beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,for He has heardשָׁמַ֔עsha.Ma'H8085your grumblingsתְּלֻנֹּתֵיכֶֽם׃te.lu.no.tei.KhemH8519.’”
10It cameוַיְהִ֗יvay.HiH1961about as Aaronאַהֲרֹן֙'a.ha.RonH175spokeכְּדַבֵּ֤רke.da.BerH1696to the wholeכָּל־kol-H3605congregationעֲדַ֣ת'a.DatH5712of the sonsבְּנֵֽי־be.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478, that theylookedוַיִּפְנ֖וּvai.yif.NuH6437towardH413the wildernessהַמִּדְבָּ֑רha.mid.BarH4057,and beholdוְהִנֵּה֙ve.hi.NehH2009,the gloryכְּב֣וֹדke.VodH3519of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068appearedנִרְאָ֖הnir.'AhH7200in the cloudבֶּעָנָֽן׃ פbe.'a.NanH6051.
12“I have heardשָׁמַ֗עְתִּיsha.Ma'.tiH8085the grumblingsתְּלוּנֹּת֮te.lu.NotH8519of the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֒Yis.ra.'ElH3478;speakדַּבֵּ֨רda.BerH1696to them, sayingלֵאמֹ֗רle.MorH559, ‘At twilightהָֽעַרְבַּ֙יִם֙ha.'ar.Ba.yimH6153you shall eatתֹּאכְל֣וּto.khe.LuH398meatבָשָׂ֔רva.SarH1320,and in the morningוּבַבֹּ֖קֶרu.va.Bo.kerH1242you shall be filledתִּשְׂבְּעוּ־tis.be.'u-H7646with breadלָ֑חֶםLa.chemH3899; andyou shall knowוִֽידַעְתֶּ֕םvi.da'.TemH3045that I am the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֵיכֶֽם׃'e.lo.hei.KhemH430.’”
13So it cameH1961about at eveningבָעֶ֔רֶבva.'E.revH6153thatthe quailsהַשְּׂלָ֔וha.se.LavH7958cameוַתַּ֣עַלva.Ta.'alH5927up and coveredוַתְּכַ֖סva.te.KhasH3680the campהַֽמַּחֲנֶ֑הha.ma.cha.NehH4264,and in the morningוּבַבֹּ֗קֶרu.va.Bo.kerH1242there was a layerשִׁכְבַ֣תshikh.VatH7902of dewהַטַּ֔לha.TalH2919aroundסָבִ֖יבsa.VivH5439the campלַֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃La.ma.cha.NehH4264.
14When the layerשִׁכְבַ֣תshikh.VatH7902of dewהַטָּ֑לha.TalH2919evaporatedוַתַּ֖עַלva.Ta.'alH5927,beholdוְהִנֵּ֞הve.hi.NehH2009, on thesurfaceפְּנֵ֤יpe.NeiH6440of the wildernessהַמִּדְבָּר֙ha.mid.BarH4057there was a fineדַּ֣קdakH1851flake-likeH2636thingH2636,fineדַּ֥קdakH1851as the frostכַּכְּפֹ֖רka.ke.ForH3713on the groundהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.
15When the sonsבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478sawוַיִּרְא֣וּvai.yir.'UH7200it,they saidוַיֹּ֨אמְר֜וּvai.Yo.me.RuH559to oneאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376anotherאָחִיו֙'a.ChivH251, “Whatמָ֣ןmanH4478is it?” For they did not knowיָדְע֖וּya.de.'UH3045whatמַה־mah-H4100it was. And Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “It is the breadהַלֶּ֔חֶםha.Le.chemH3899whichאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068has givenנָתַ֧ןna.TanH5414you to eatלְאָכְלָֽה׃le.'okh.LahH402.
16Thisזֶ֤הzehH2088iswhatהַדָּבָר֙ha.da.VarH1697H834the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068has commandedצִוָּ֣הtzi.VahH6680, ‘Gatherלִקְט֣וּlik.TuH3950of it everyH376manH376as muchלְפִ֣יle.FiH6310as he should eatH398;you shall takeתִּקָּֽחוּ׃ti.Ka.chuH3947an omerעֹ֣מֶר'O.merH6016apieceלַגֻּלְגֹּ֗לֶתla.gul.Go.letH1538according to the numberמִסְפַּר֙mis.ParH4557of personsנַפְשֹׁ֣תֵיכֶ֔םnaf.Sho.tei.KhemH5315eachH376of you hasH3947in his tentבְּאָהֳל֖וֹbe.'o.ho.LoH168.’”
18When they measuredוַיָּמֹ֣דּוּvai.ya.Mo.duH4058it with an omerבָעֹ֔מֶרva.'O.merH6016,he who hadH7235gathered muchהַמַּרְבֶּ֔הha.mar.BehH7235had noוְלֹ֤אve.Lo'H3808excessהֶעְדִּיף֙he'.DifH5736,and he who hadH4591gathered littleH4591had noלֹ֣אlo'H3808lackהֶחְסִ֑ירhech.SirH2637;everyH376manH376gatheredלָקָֽטוּ׃la.Ka.tuH3950as muchלְפִֽי־le.fi-H6310as he should eatH398.
20But they did not listenשָׁמְע֣וּsha.me.'UH8085to Mosesמֹשֶׁ֗הmo.ShehH4872,and someH376leftוַיּוֹתִ֨רוּvai.yo.Ti.ruH3498part of it untilעַד־'ad-H5704morningבֹּ֔קֶרBo.kerH1242,and it bredH7426wormsתּוֹלָעִ֖יםto.la.'ImH8438and becameH887foulH887;and Mosesמֹשֶֽׁה׃mo.ShehH4872was angryוַיִּקְצֹ֥ףvai.yik.TzofH7107with them.
