2The womanהָאִשָּׁ֖הha.'i.ShahH802conceivedוַתַּ֥הַרva.Ta.harH2029and boreוַתֵּ֣לֶדva.Te.ledH3205a sonבֵּ֑ןBenH1121;and when she sawוַתֵּ֤רֶאva.Te.re'H7200that he wasbeautifulט֣וֹבTovH2896,she hidוַֽתִּצְפְּנֵ֖הוּva.titz.pe.Ne.huH6845him for threeשְׁלֹשָׁ֥הshe.lo.ShahH7969monthsיְרָחִֽים׃ye.ra.ChimH3391.

3But when she couldיָכְלָ֣הya.khe.LahH3201hideהַצְּפִינוֹ֒ha.tze.fi.NoH6845him noוְלֹא־ve.lo'-H3808longerעוֹד֮'OdH5750,she gotוַתִּֽקַּֽח־va.ti.kach-H3947him awickerגֹּ֔מֶאGo.me'H1573basketתֵּ֣בַתTe.vatH8392and coveredוַתַּחְמְרָ֥הva.tach.me.RahH2560it over with tarבַחֵמָ֖רva.che.MarH2564and pitchוּבַזָּ֑פֶתu.va.Za.fetH2203.Then she putוַתָּ֤שֶׂםva.Ta.semH7760the childהַיֶּ֔לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206into it and setוַתָּ֥שֶׂםva.Ta.semH7760it among thereedsבַּסּ֖וּףba.SufH5488by the bankשְׂפַ֥תse.FatH8193of the Nileהַיְאֹֽר׃hay.'OrH2975.

4His sisterאֲחֹת֖וֹ'a.cho.ToH269stoodוַתֵּתַצַּ֥בva.te.ta.TzavH3320at a distanceמֵרָחֹ֑קme.ra.ChokH7350tofindלְדֵעָ֕הle.de.'AhH3045out whatמַה־mah-H4100wouldhappenיֵּעָשֶׂ֖הye.'a.SehH6213to him.

5The daughterבַּת־bat-H1323of Pharaohפַּרְעֹה֙par.'OhH6547cameH3381downוַתֵּ֤רֶדva.Te.redH3381to batheלִרְחֹ֣ץlir.ChotzH7364at the Nileהַיְאֹ֔רhay.'OrH2975,with her maidensוְנַעֲרֹתֶ֥יהָve.na.'a.ro.Tei.haH5291walkingהֹלְכֹ֖תho.le.KhotH1980alongsideיַ֣דyadH5921 H3027the Nileהַיְאֹ֑רhay.'OrH2975;and she sawוַתֵּ֤רֶאva.Te.re'H7200thebasketהַתֵּבָה֙ha.te.VahH8392amongבְּת֣וֹךְbe.TokhH8432the reedsהַסּ֔וּףha.SufH5488and sentוַתִּשְׁלַ֥חva.tish.LachH7971her maidאֲמָתָ֖הּ'a.ma.TahH519,and she broughtוַתִּקָּחֶֽהָva.ti.ka.Che.haH3947it to her.

6When she openedוַתִּפְתַּח֙va.tif.TachH6605it, shesawוַתִּרְאֵ֣הוּva.tir.'E.huH7200the childהַיֶּ֔לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206,and beholdוְהִנֵּה־ve.hi.neh-H2009, theboyנַ֖עַרNa.'arH5288was cryingבֹּכֶ֑הbo.KhehH1058.And she hadH2550pityH2550on him and saidוַתֹּ֕אמֶרva.To.merH559, “Thisזֶֽה׃ZehH2088is oneH4480of the Hebrews’הָֽעִבְרִ֖יםha.'iv.RimH5680childrenמִיַּלְדֵ֥יmi.yal.DeiH3206.”

7Then his sisterאֲחֹתוֹ֮'a.cho.ToH269saidוַתֹּ֣אמֶרva.To.merH559to Pharaoh’sפַּרְעֹה֒par.'OhH6547daughterבַּת־bat-H1323, “Shall I goהַאֵלֵ֗ךְha.'e.LekhH1980and callוְקָרָ֤אתִיve.ka.Ra.tiH7121a nurseמֵינֶ֔קֶתmei.Ne.ketH3243for you from the Hebrewהָעִבְרִיֹּ֑תha.'iv.ri.YotH5680womenH5680that she may nurseוְתֵינִ֥קve.tei.NikH3243the childהַיָּֽלֶד׃hai.Ya.ledH3206for you?”

8Pharaoh’sפַּרְעֹ֖הpar.'OhH6547daughterבַּת־bat-H1323saidוַתֹּֽאמֶר־va.to.mer-H559to her, “Goלֵ֑כִיLe.khiH1980ahead.”So the girlהָֽעַלְמָ֔הha.'al.MahH5959wentוַתֵּ֙לֶךְ֙va.Te.lekhH1980and calledוַתִּקְרָ֖אva.tik.Ra'H7121the child’sהַיָּֽלֶד׃hai.Ya.ledH3206motherאֵ֥ם'emH517.

9Then Pharaoh’sפַּרְעֹ֗הpar.'OhH6547daughterבַּת־bat-H1323saidוַתֹּ֧אמֶרva.To.merH559to her, “Takeהֵילִ֜יכִיhei.Li.khiH1980thisהַזֶּה֙ha.ZehH2088childהַיֶּ֤לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206away and nurseH3243him for me and I will giveאֶתֵּ֣ן'e.TenH5414youyour wagesשְׂכָרֵ֑ךְse.kha.RekhH7939.”So the womanהָאִשָּׁ֛הha.'i.ShahH802tookוַתִּקַּ֧חva.ti.KachH3947the childהַיֶּ֖לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206and nursedH5134him.

10The childהַיֶּ֗לֶדhai.Ye.ledH3206grewוַיִגְדַּ֣לva.yig.DalH1431,and she broughtוַתְּבִאֵ֙הוּ֙va.te.vi.'E.huH935him to Pharaoh’sפַּרְעֹ֔הpar.'OhH6547daughterלְבַת־le.vat-H1323andhe becameוַֽיְהִי־vay.hi-H1961her sonלְבֵ֑ןle.VenH1121.And she namedוַתִּקְרָ֤א שְׁמוֹ֙va.tik.Ra' she.MoH7121 H8034himMosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872,and saidוַתֹּ֕אמֶרva.To.merH559, “Becauseכִּ֥יkiH3588Idrewמְשִׁיתִֽהוּ׃me.shi.Ti.huH4871him out of the waterהַמַּ֖יִםha.Ma.yimH4325.”

11Now it cameוַיְהִ֣י׀vay.HiH1961about in thoseהָהֵ֗םha.HemH1992daysבַּיָּמִ֣יםbai.ya.MimH3117,when Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872had grownוַיִּגְדַּ֤לvai.yig.DalH1431up, that he wentוַיֵּצֵ֣אvai.ye.Tze'H3318out to his brethrenאֶחָ֔יו'e.ChavH251and lookedוַיַּ֖רְאvai.Yar'H7200on theirhardH5450laborsבְּסִבְלֹתָ֑םbe.siv.lo.TamH5450; andhe sawוַיַּרְא֙vai.yaR'H7200an Egyptianמִצְרִ֔יmitz.RiH4713beatingמַכֶּ֥הma.KehH5221a Hebrewעִבְרִ֖י'iv.RiH5680,oneH4480of his brethrenמֵאֶחָֽיו׃me.'e.ChavH251.

12So helookedוַיִּ֤פֶןvai.Yi.fenH6437thisכֹּה֙kohH3541wayוָכֹ֔הva.KhohH3541and that, and when he sawוַיַּ֖רְאvai.Yar'H7200thereH369was noH369oneאִ֑ישׁ'IshH376around, hestruckH5221downH5221the Egyptianהַמִּצְרִ֔יha.mitz.RiH4713and hidוַֽיִּטְמְנֵ֖הוּvai.yit.me.Ne.huH2934him in the sandבַּחֽוֹל׃ba.CholH2344.

13He wentוַיֵּצֵא֙vai.ye.Tze'H3318outthe nextהַשֵּׁנִ֔יha.she.NiH8145dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117,and beholdוְהִנֵּ֛הve.hi.NehH2009,twoשְׁנֵֽי־she.nei-H8147Hebrewsעִבְרִ֖ים'iv.RimH5680werefightingנִצִּ֑יםni.TzimH5327with each other; and he saidוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559to theoffenderלָֽרָשָׁ֔עla.ra.Sha'H7563, “Whyלָ֥מָּהLa.mahH4100are you strikingתַכֶּ֖הta.KehH5221your companionרֵעֶֽךָ׃re.'E.khaH7453?”

14But he saidוַ֠יֹּאמֶרVai.yo.merH559, “Whoמִ֣יmiH4310madeשָֽׂמְךָ֞sa.me.KhaH7760you aprinceשַׂ֤רsarH8269or a judgeוְשֹׁפֵט֙ve.sho.FetH8199overעָלֵ֔ינוּ'a.Lei.nuH5921us? Are youintendingאֹמֵ֔ר'o.MerH559to killהַלְהָרְגֵ֙נִי֙hal.ha.re.Ge.niH2026me as you killedהָרַ֖גְתָּha.Rag.taH2026the Egyptianהַמִּצְרִ֑יha.mitz.RiH4713?”Then Mosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872was afraidוַיִּירָ֤אvai.yi.Ra'H3372and saidוַיֹּאמַ֔רvai.yo.MarH559, “Surelyאָכֵ֖ן'a.KhenH403the matterהַדָּבָֽר׃ha.da.VarH1697has become knownנוֹדַ֥עno.Da'H3045.”

15When Pharaohפַּרְעֹה֙par.'OhH6547heardוַיִּשְׁמַ֤עvai.yish.Ma'H8085of thisהַזֶּ֔הha.ZehH2088matterהַדָּבָ֣רha.da.VarH1697,he triedוַיְבַקֵּ֖שׁvay.va.KeshH1245to killלַהֲרֹ֣גla.ha.RogH2026Mosesמֹשֶׁ֑הmo.ShehH4872. ButMosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872fledוַיִּבְרַ֤חvai.yiv.RachH1272from the presenceמִפְּנֵ֣יmi.pe.NeiH6440of Pharaohפַרְעֹ֔הfar.'OhH6547andsettledH3427in the landבְּאֶֽרֶץ־be.'e.retz-H776of Midianמִדְיָ֖ןmid.YanH4080,and he satH3427downH3427by a wellהַבְּאֵֽר׃ha.be.'ErH875.

16Nowthe priestוּלְכֹהֵ֥ןu.le.kho.HenH3548of Midianמִדְיָ֖ןmid.YanH4080had sevenשֶׁ֣בַעShe.va'H7651daughtersבָּנ֑וֹתba.NotH1323; andthey cameוַתָּבֹ֣אנָהva.ta.Vo.nahH935to drawH1802waterH1802and filledוַתְּמַלֶּ֙אנָה֙va.te.ma.Le.nahH4390the troughsהָ֣רְהָטִ֔יםha.re.ha.TimH7298to waterלְהַשְׁק֖וֹתle.hash.KotH8248their father’sאֲבִיהֶֽן׃'a.vi.HenH1flockצֹ֥אןtzonH6629.

17Then the shepherdsהָרֹעִ֖יםha.ro.'ImH7462cameוַיָּבֹ֥אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935and droveH1644them awayוַיְגָרְשׁ֑וּםvay.ga.re.ShumH1644, butMosesמֹשֶׁה֙mo.ShehH4872stoodוַיָּ֤קָםvai.Ya.komH6965up and helpedוַיּ֣וֹשִׁעָ֔ןvai.Yo.o.shi.'AnH3467them and wateredוַיַּ֖שְׁקְvai.YashkH8248their flockצֹאנָֽם׃tzo.NamH6629.

18When they cameוַתָּבֹ֕אנָהva.ta.Vo.nahH935toReuelרְעוּאֵ֖לre.'u.'ElH7467their fatherאֲבִיהֶ֑ן'a.vi.HenH1,he saidוַיֹּ֕אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whyמַדּ֛וּעַma.Du.a'H4069have you comeבֹּ֖אbo'H935backso soonמִהַרְתֶּ֥ןmi.har.TenH4116todayהַיּֽוֹם׃hai.YomH3117?”

19So they saidוַתֹּאמַ֕רְןָva.to.Mar.naH559, “An Egyptianמִצְרִ֔יmitz.RiH4713deliveredהִצִּילָ֖נוּhi.tzi.La.nuH5337us from the handמִיַּ֣דmi.YadH3027of the shepherdsהָרֹעִ֑יםha.ro.'ImH7462,and whatH1571is moreH1571,he evenH1571drewדָּלֹ֤הda.LohH1802the waterדָלָה֙da.LahH1802for us and wateredוַיַּ֖שְׁקְvai.YashkH8248the flockהַצֹּֽאן׃ha.TzonH6629.”

20He saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to his daughtersבְּנֹתָ֖יוbe.no.TavH1323, “Whereוְאַיּ֑וֹve.'ai.YoH335is he then? Whyלָ֤מָּהLa.mahH4100is it that you have leftH5800the manהָאִ֔ישׁha.'IshH376behindH5800?Inviteקִרְאֶ֥ןkir.'EnH7121himto have somethingלָֽחֶם׃La.chemH3899to eatוְיֹ֥אכַלve.Yo.khalH398.”

21Mosesמֹשֶׁ֖הmo.ShehH4872was willingוַיּ֥וֹאֶלvai.Yo.'elH2974to dwellלָשֶׁ֣בֶתla.She.vetH3427with the manהָאִ֑ישׁha.'IshH376,and he gaveוַיִּתֵּ֛ןvai.yi.TenH5414his daughterבִתּ֖וֹvi.ToH1323Zipporahצִפֹּרָ֥הtzi.po.RahH6855to Mosesלְמֹשֶֽׁה׃le.mo.ShehH4872.
