1“Whenכִּֽי־ki-H3588the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙'e.lo.Hei.khaH430cutsיַכְרִ֞יתyakh.RitH3772offH3772the nationsהַגּוֹיִ֔םha.go.YimH1471,whoseאֲשֶׁר֙'a.SherH834landאַרְצָ֑ם'ar.TzamH776the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430givesנֹתֵ֥ןno.TenH5414you, and you dispossessוִֽירִשְׁתָּ֕םvi.rish.TamH3423them and settleוְיָשַׁבְתָּ֥ve.ya.shav.TaH3427in their citiesבְעָרֵיהֶ֖םve.'a.rei.HemH5892and in their housesוּבְבָתֵּיהֶֽם׃u.ve.va.tei.HemH1004,

2you shall setתַּבְדִּ֣ילtav.DilH914asideH914threeשָׁל֥וֹשׁsha.Lo.oshH7969citiesעָרִ֖ים'a.RimH5892for yourself in the midstבְּת֣וֹךְbe.TokhH8432of your landאַרְצְךָ֔'ar.tze.KhaH776,whichאֲשֶׁר֙'a.SherH834the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430givesנֹתֵ֥ןno.TenH5414you topossessלְרִשְׁתָּֽהּ׃le.rish.TahH3423.

3You shall prepareתָּכִ֣יןta.KhinH3559theroadsהַדֶּרֶךְ֒ha.de.reKhH1870for yourself, and divideH8027into threeוְשִׁלַּשְׁתָּ֙ve.shi.lash.TaH8027partsH8027the territoryגְּב֣וּלge.VulH1366of your landאַרְצְךָ֔'ar.tze.KhaH776whichאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֑יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430will giveיַנְחִֽילְךָ֖yan.chi.le.KhaH5157you as a possessionH5157,so that anyכָּל־kol-H3605manslayerרֹצֵֽחַ׃ro.Tze.achH7523may fleeלָנ֥וּסla.NusH5127thereשָׁ֖מָּהSha.mahH8033.

4“Now thisוְזֶה֙ve.ZehH2088is the caseדְּבַ֣רde.VarH1697of the manslayerהָרֹצֵ֔חַha.ro.Tze.achH7523whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834may fleeיָנ֥וּסya.NusH5127thereשָׁ֖מָּהSha.mahH8033and liveוָחָ֑יva.ChaiH2421:whenאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834hekillsיַכֶּ֤הya.KehH5221his friendרֵעֵ֙הוּ֙re.'E.huH7453unintentionallyבִּבְלִי־ דַ֔עַתbiv.li- Da.'atH1847 H1097,not hatingשֹׂנֵ֥אso.Ne'H8130him previouslyמִתְּמֹ֥ל שִׁלְשֹֽׁם׃mi.te.Mol shil.ShomH8543 H8032--

5as whenוַאֲשֶׁר֩va.'a.SherH834a mangoesיָבֹ֨אya.Vo'H935into the forestבַיַּעַר֮vai.ya.'ArH3293with his friendרֵעֵ֥הוּre.'E.huH7453to cutלַחְטֹ֣בlach.ToH2404woodעֵצִים֒'e.TzimH6086,and his handיָד֤וֹya.DoH3027swingsוְנִדְּחָ֨הve.ni.de.ChahH5080the axeבַגַּרְזֶן֙va.gar.ZenH1631to cutלִכְרֹ֣תlikh.RotH3772downH3772the treeהָעֵ֔ץha.'EtzH6086,and the ironהַבַּרְזֶל֙ha.bar.ZelH1270headslipsH5394offH5394thehandleהָעֵ֔ץha.'EtzH6086andstrikesוּמָצָ֥אu.ma.Tza'H4672his friendרֵעֵ֖הוּre.'E.huH7453so that he diesוָמֵ֑תva.MetH4191--he may fleeיָנ֛וּסya.NusH5127to oneאַחַ֥ת'a.ChatH259of theseהָאֵ֖לֶּהha.'E.lehH428citiesהֶעָרִים־he.'a.rim-H5892and liveוָחָֽי׃va.ChaiH2421;

6otherwiseפֶּן־pen-H6435the avengerגֹּאֵ֨לgo.'ElH1350of bloodהַדָּ֜םha.DamH1818might pursueיִרְדֹּף֩yir.DofH7291the manslayerהָרֹצֵ֗חַha.ro.Tze.achH7523in the heatיֵחַם֮ye.ChamH2552of his angerלְבָבוֹ֒le.va.VoH3824,and overtakeוְהִשִּׂיג֛וֹve.hi.si.GoH5381him, becauseH3588the wayהַדֶּ֖רֶךְha.De.rekhH1870is longיִרְבֶּ֥הyir.BehH7235, andtakeוְהִכָּ֣הוּve.hi.Ka.huH5221his lifeנָ֑פֶשׁNa.feshH5315,though he was not deservingמִשְׁפַּט־mish.pat-H4941of deathמָ֔וֶתMa.vetH4194,sinceH3588he had not hatedשֹׂנֵ֥אso.Ne'H8130him previouslyמִתְּמ֥וֹל שִׁלְשֽׁוֹם׃mi.te.Mol shil.ShomH8543 H8032.

7Thereforeעַל־ כֵּ֛ן'al- kenH5921 H3651,I commandמְצַוְּךָ֖me.tza.ve.KhaH6680you, sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, ‘You shall setתַּבְדִּ֥ילtav.DilH914asideH914threeשָׁלֹ֥שׁsha.LoshH7969citiesעָרִ֖ים'a.RimH5892for yourself.’

8“Ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֙יךָ֙'e.lo.Hei.khaH430enlargesיַרְחִ֞יבyar.ChivH7337your territoryגְּבֻ֣לְךָ֔ge.Vul.khaH1366,justH3152as He has swornנִשְׁבַּ֖עnish.Ba'H7650to your fathersלַאֲבֹתֶ֑יךָla.'a.vo.Tei.khaH1,and givesוְנָ֤תַןve.Na.tanH5414you allכָּל־kol-H3605the landהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776whichH834Hepromisedדִּבֶּ֖רdi.BerH1696to giveלָתֵ֥תla.TetH5414your fathersלַאֲבֹתֶֽיךָ׃la.'a.vo.Tei.khaH1--

9ifכִּֽי־ki-H3588youcarefullyלַעֲשֹׂתָ֗הּla.'a.so.TahH6213observeתִשְׁמֹר֩tish.MorH8104allכָּל־kol-H3605thisH2088commandmentהַמִּצְוָ֨הha.mitz.VahH4687whichאֲשֶׁ֨ר'a.SherH834I commandמְצַוְּךָ֮me.tza.ve.KhaH6680you todayהַיּוֹם֒hai.yOmH3117,to loveלְאַהֲבָ֞הle.'a.ha.VahH157the Lordיְהוָ֧הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֛יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430,and to walkוְלָלֶ֥כֶתve.la.Le.khetH1980in His waysבִּדְרָכָ֖יוbid.ra.KhavH1870alwaysכָּל־ הַיָּמִ֑יםkol- hai.ya.MimH3605 H3117--then you shall addוְיָסַפְתָּ֨ve.ya.saf.TaH3254threeשָׁלֹ֣שׁsha.LoshH7969moreעוֹד֙'OdH5750citiesעָרִ֔ים'a.RimH5892for yourself, besidesעַ֖ל'alH5921theseהָאֵֽלֶּה׃ha.'E.lehH428threeהַשָּׁלֹ֥שׁha.sha.LoshH7969.

10So innocentנָקִ֔יna.KiH5355bloodדָּ֣םdamH1818will not be shedיִשָּׁפֵךְ֙yi.sha.feKhH8210in the midstבְּקֶ֣רֶבbe.Ke.revH7130of your landאַרְצְךָ֔'ar.tze.KhaH776whichאֲשֶׁר֙'a.SherH834the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ'e.lo.Hei.khaH430givesנֹתֵ֥ןno.TenH5414you as an inheritanceנַחֲלָ֑הna.cha.LahH5159, andbloodguiltinessדָּמִֽים׃ סda.MimH1818be on you.

11“Butifוְכִֽי־ve.khi-H3588there is a manאִישׁ֙'ishH376who hatesשֹׂנֵ֣אso.Ne'H8130his neighborלְרֵעֵ֔הוּle.re.'E.huH7453and liesוְאָ֤רַבve.'A.ravH693in waitH693for him and risesוְקָ֣םve.KamH6965up againstעָלָ֔יו'a.LavH5921him and strikesוְהִכָּ֥הוּve.hi.Ka.huH5221him so that he diesוָמֵ֑תva.MetH4191,and he fleesוְנָ֕סve.NasH5127to oneאַחַ֖ת'a.ChatH259of theseהָאֵֽל׃ha.'ElH411citiesהֶעָרִ֥יםhe.'a.RimH5892,

12then the eldersזִקְנֵ֣יzik.NeiH2205of his cityעִיר֔וֹi.RoH5892shall sendוְשָֽׁלְחוּ֙ve.sha.le.ChuH7971and takeוְלָקְח֥וּve.la.ke.ChuH3947him from thereמִשָּׁ֑םmi.ShamH8033and deliverוְנָתְנ֣וּve.na.te.NuH5414him into the handבְּיַ֛דbe.YadH3027of the avengerגֹּאֵ֥לgo.'ElH1350of bloodהַדָּ֖םha.DamH1818,that he may dieוָמֵֽת׃va.MetH4191.

13You shall not pityתָח֥וֹסta.ChosH2347him, butyou shall purgeוּבִֽעַרְתָּ֧u.vi.'ar.TaH1197the bloodדַֽם־dam-H1818of the innocentהַנָּקִ֛יha.na.KiH5355from Israelמִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֖לmi.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,that it may goH2895wellH2895with you.

15“A singleאֶחָ֜ד'e.ChadH259witnessH5707shall not riseיָקוּם֩ya.KumH6965up against a manבְּאִ֗ישׁbe.'IshH376on account of anyH3605iniquityעָוֹן֙'a.VonH5771or anyH3605sinחֵ֖טְאchet'H2399whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834he has committedיֶֽחֱטָ֑אye.che.Ta'H2398; on theevidenceH6310of twoשְׁנֵ֣יshe.NeiH8147orא֛וֹ'oH176threeשְׁלֹשָֽׁה־she.lo.shah-H7969witnessesH5707a matterדָּבָֽר׃da.VarH1697shall be confirmedיָק֥וּםya.KumH6965.

16Ifכִּֽי־ki-H3588a maliciousחָמָ֖סcha.MasH2555witnessעֵד־'ed-H5707risesיָק֥וּםya.KumH6965up against a manבְּאִ֑ישׁbe.'IshH376toaccuseלַעֲנ֥וֹתla.'a.NotH6030him ofwrongdoingסָרָֽה׃sa.RahH5627,

17then bothשְׁנֵֽי־she.nei-H8147the menH376whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834have the disputeהָרִ֖יבha.RivH7379shall standוְעָמְד֧וּve.'a.me.DuH5975beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,beforeלִפְנֵ֤יlif.NeiH6440the priestsהַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ha.ko.ha.NimH3548and the judgesוְהַשֹּׁ֣פְטִ֔יםve.ha.Sho.fe.TimH8199whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834will be in officein thoseהָהֵֽם׃ha.HemH1992daysבַּיָּמִ֥יםbai.ya.MimH3117.

18The judgesהַשֹּׁפְטִ֖יםha.sho.fe.TimH8199shall investigateוְדָרְשׁ֥וּve.da.re.ShuH1875thoroughlyהֵיטֵ֑בhei.TevH3190,and ifוְהִנֵּ֤הve.hi.NehH2009the witnessעֵֽד־'ed-H5707is a falseשֶׁ֙קֶר֙she.kerH8267witnessהָעֵ֔דha.'EdH5707and he hasaccusedעָנָ֥ה'a.NahH6030his brotherבְאָחִֽיו׃ve.'a.ChivH251falselyשֶׁ֖קֶרShe.kerH8267,
