Genesis 40:1-13 1 And it came to pass after these things הַדְּבָרִ֣ים ha.de.va.Rim H1697 , [ that ] the cup-bearer of the king מֶֽלֶךְ־ Me.lekh- H4428 of Egypt מִצְרַ֖יִם mitz.Ra.yim H4714 and the baker וְהָאֹפֶ֑ה ve.ha.'o.Peh H644 offended their lord H113 the king לְמֶ֥לֶךְ le.Me.lekh H4428 of Egypt מִצְרָֽיִם׃ mitz.Ra.yim H4714 . 2 And Pharaoh פַּרְעֹ֔ה par.'Oh H6547 was wroth with his two שְׁנֵ֣י she.Nei H8147 chamberlains — with the chief שַׂ֣ר sar H8269 of the cup-bearers and with the chief שַׂ֥ר sar H8269 of the bakers הָאוֹפִֽים׃ ha.'o.Fim H644 ; 3 and he put וַיִּתֵּ֨ן vai.yi.Ten H5414 them in custody בְּמִשְׁמַ֗ר be.mish.Mar H4929 into the house H1004 of the captain of the life-guard, into the tower-house, into the place מְק֕וֹם me.Kom H4725 where אֲשֶׁ֥ר 'a.Sher H834 Joseph יוֹסֵ֖ף yo.Sef H3130 was imprisoned אָס֥וּר 'a.Sur H631 . 4 And the captain of the life-guard appointed וַ֠יִּפְקֹד Vai.yif.kod H6485 Joseph יוֹסֵ֛ף yo.Sef H3130 to them , that he should attend on them . And they were H1961 [several] days יָמִ֖ים ya.Mim H3117 in custody בְּמִשְׁמָֽר׃ be.mish.Mar H4929 . 5 And they dreamed וַיַּֽחַלְמוּ֩ vai.ya.chal.Mu H2492 a dream חֲל֨וֹם cha.Lom H2472 , both of them in one אֶחָ֔ד 'e.Chad H259 night בְּלַ֣יְלָה be.Lay.lah H3915 , each his dream חֲלֹמוֹ֙ cha.lo.Mo H2472 , each according to the interpretation כְּפִתְר֣וֹן ke.fit.Ron H6623 of his dream חֲלֹמ֑וֹ cha.lo.Mo H2472 , the cup-bearer and the baker וְהָאֹפֶ֗ה ve.ha.'o.Peh H644 of the king לְמֶ֣לֶךְ le.Me.lekh H4428 of Egypt מִצְרַ֔יִם mitz.Ra.yim H4714 , who were imprisoned אֲסוּרִ֖ים 'a.su.Rim H631 in the tower-house. 6 And Joseph יוֹסֵ֖ף yo.Sef H3130 came H935 in to them in the morning בַּבֹּ֑קֶר ba.Bo.ker H1242 , and looked H7200 on them , and behold , they were sad. 7 And he asked וַיִּשְׁאַ֞ל vai.yish.'Al H7592 Pharaoh's chamberlains that were with him in custody בְמִשְׁמַ֛ר ve.mish.Mar H4929 in his lord's house בֵּ֥ית beit H1004 , saying לֵאמֹ֑ר le.Mor H559 , Why מַדּ֛וּעַ ma.Du.a' H4069 are your faces H6440 [ so ] sad to-day? 8 And they said H559 to him , We have dreamt a dream חֲל֣וֹם cha.Lom H2472 , and there is no interpreter of it . And Joseph יוֹסֵ֗ף yo.Sef H3130 said H559 to them , [ Do ] not interpretations H6623 [ belong ] to God לֵֽאלֹהִים֙ le.lo.Him H430 ? tell me [ your dreams H2472 ], I pray you . 9 Then the chief שַֽׂר־ sar- H8269 of the cup-bearers told his dream חֲלֹמ֖וֹ cha.lo.Mo H2472 to Joseph לְיוֹסֵ֑ף le.yo.Sef H3130 , and said H559 to him , In my dream בַּחֲלוֹמִ֕י ba.cha.lo.Mi H2472 , behold , a vine גֶ֖פֶן Ge.fen H1612 was before me ; 10 and in the vine וּבַגֶּ֖פֶן u.va.Ge.fen H1612 were three שְׁלֹשָׁ֣ה she.lo.Shah H7969 branches שָׂרִיגִ֑ם sa.ri.Gim H8299 ; and it was as though it budded H6524 : its blossoms shot forth, its clusters אַשְׁכְּלֹתֶ֖יהָ 'ash.ke.lo.Tei.ha H811 ripened into grapes . 11 And Pharaoh's cup וְכ֥וֹס ve.Khos H3563 was in my hand בְּיָדִ֑י be.ya.Di H3027 ; and I took H3947 the grapes , and pressed them into Pharaoh's cup כּ֣וֹס Kos H3563 , and gave H5414 the cup הַכּ֖וֹס ha.Kos H3563 into Pharaoh's hand H3027 . 12 And Joseph יוֹסֵ֔ף yo.Sef H3130 said H559 to him , This is the interpretation פִּתְרֹנ֑וֹ pit.ro.No H6623 of it: the three שְׁלֹ֙שֶׁת֙ she.Lo.shet H7969 branches הַשָּׂ֣רִגִ֔ים ha.Sa.ri.Gim H8299 are three שְׁלֹ֥שֶׁת she.Lo.shet H7969 days יָמִ֖ים ya.Mim H3117 . 13 In yet H5750 three שְׁלֹ֣שֶׁת she.Lo.shet H7969 days יָמִ֗ים ya.Mim H3117 will Pharaoh H6547 lift יִשָּׂ֤א yi.Sa' H5375 up thy head רֹאשֶׁ֔ךָ ro.She.kha H7218 and restore וַהֲשִֽׁיבְךָ֖ va.ha.shi.ve.Kha H7725 thee to thy place , and thou shalt deliver Pharaoh's cup כוֹס־ khos- H3563 into his hand בְּיָד֔וֹ be.ya.Do H3027 , after the former הָֽרִאשׁ֔וֹן ha.ri.Shon H7223 manner when thou wast his cup-bearer.
