2 Samuel 13:23-33 23 And it came to pass after two full years לִשְׁנָתַ֣יִם lish.na.Ta.yim H8141 , that Absalom לְאַבְשָׁל֔וֹם le.'av.sha.Lom H53 had sheepshearers in Baal-Hazor , which is beside Ephraim אֶפְרָ֑יִם 'ef.Ra.yim H669 ; and Absalom אַבְשָׁל֖וֹם 'av.sha.Lom H53 invited all the king's sons בְּנֵ֥י be.Nei H1121 . 24 And Absalom אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ 'av.sha.lOm H53 came H935 to the king הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ ha.Me.lekh H4428 , and said H559 , Behold , now , thy servant לְעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ le.'av.De.kha H5650 has sheepshearers ; let the king הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ ha.Me.lekh H4428 , I pray thee, and his servants וַעֲבָדָ֖יו va.'a.va.Dav H5650 go H935 with thy servant עַבְדֶּֽךָ׃ 'av.De.kha H5650 . 25 And the king הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ ha.Me.lekh H4428 said H559 to Absalom אַבְשָׁל֗וֹם 'av.sha.Lom H53 , No , my son בְּנִי֙ be.Ni H1121 , let us not all go , lest we be burdensome to thee. And he urged him , but he would אָבָ֥ה 'a.Vah H14 not go ; and he blessed H1288 him . 26 And Absalom אַבְשָׁל֔וֹם 'av.sha.Lom H53 said H559 , If not , I pray thee, let my brother אָחִ֑י 'a.Chi H251 Amnon אַמְנ֣וֹן 'am.Non H550 go with us . And the king הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ ha.Me.lekh H4428 said H559 to him , Why לָ֥מָּה La.mah H4100 should he go with thee? 27 But Absalom אַבְשָׁל֑וֹם 'av.sha.Lom H53 pressed him ; and he let Amnon אַמְנ֔וֹן 'am.Non H550 and all the king's sons בְּנֵ֥י be.Nei H1121 go H7971 with him . 28 And Absalom אַבְשָׁל֨וֹם 'av.sha.Lom H53 commanded וַיְצַו֩ vay.Tzav H6680 his servants נְעָרָ֜יו ne.'a.Rav H5288 , saying לֵאמֹ֗ר le.Mor H559 , Mark ye now when Amnon's heart לֵב־ lev- H3820 is merry with wine בַּיַּ֙יִן֙ bai.Ya.yin H3196 , and when I say וְאָמַרְתִּ֣י ve.'a.mar.Ti H559 to you , Smite Amnon H550 ; then slay him , fear H3372 not : have not I commanded צִוִּ֣יתִי tzi.Vi.ti H6680 you ? be H1961 courageous , and be H1961 valiant . 29 And the servants נַעֲרֵ֤י na.'a.Rei H5288 of Absalom אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ 'av.sha.lOm H53 did to Amnon לְאַמְנ֔וֹן le.'am.Non H550 as Absalom אַבְשָׁל֑וֹם 'av.sha.Lom H53 had commanded צִוָּ֖ה tzi.Vah H6680 . Then all the king's sons בְּנֵ֣י be.Nei H1121 arose H6965 , and they rode H7392 each upon his mule פִּרְדּ֖וֹ pir.Do H6505 and fled H5127 . 30 And it came H935 to pass , while they were H1961 in the way בַדֶּ֔רֶךְ va.De.rekh H1870 , that tidings came H935 to David דָּוִ֖ד da.Vid H1732 , saying לֵאמֹ֑ר le.Mor H559 , Absalom אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ 'av.sha.lOm H53 has smitten all the king's sons בְּנֵ֣י be.Nei H1121 , and there is not one אֶחָֽד׃ ס 'e.Chad H259 of them left H3498 . 31 Then the king הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ ha.Me.lekh H4428 arose וַיָּ֧קָם vai.Ya.kom H6965 , and rent his garments בְּגָדָ֖יו be.ga.Dav H899 , and lay H7901 on the earth H776 ; and all his servants עֲבָדָ֥יו 'a.va.Dav H5650 stood נִצָּבִ֖ים ni.tza.Vim H5324 by with their garments בְגָדִֽים׃ ס ve.ga.Dim H899 rent. 32 And Jonadab יוֹנָדָ֣ב׀ yo.na.Dav H3122 , the son בֶּן־ ben- H1121 of Shimeah שִׁמְעָ֨ה shim.'Ah H8093 David's brother אֲחִֽי־ 'a.chi- H251 , answered and said H559 , Let not my lord אֲדֹנִי֙ 'a.do.Ni H113 suppose that they have slain all the young הַנְּעָרִ֤ים ha.ne.'a.Rim H5288 men H5288 the king's sons בְּנֵֽי־ be.nei- H1121 ; for Amnon אַמְנ֥וֹן 'am.Non H550 only לְבַדּ֖וֹ le.va.Do H905 is dead H4191 ; for by the appointment of Absalom אַבְשָׁלוֹם֙ 'av.sha.lOm H53 this has been H1961 determined from the day מִיּוֹם֙ mi.yOm H3117 that he humbled his sister אֲחֹתֽוֹ׃ 'a.cho.To H269 Tamar תָּמָ֥ר ta.Mar H8559 .
